Bottom line: OP asked for trouble .. now the OP hopes he can get away with it and comes here for comfort .. ?? Somethings wrong with that picture ..

I think you missed the part where he didn't ask if he should sneak in a closet and vape. Only that he did and he's worried about it and wonders if he got fired.

Perhaps the Best advise the OP can get from everything that has happened is to get a Clearer Understanding of what his Employer’s Policy is regarding e-Cigarette use while On the Job.

Reality Check: Many Employer’s are not so Sympathetic to vaping or Smoking when not done on a Designated Break in a Designated Area like some of the members here on the ECF are.

Ok children, enough bickering. The op made a mistake and is worried about it, who hasn't made bad choices in the past? I know I have made plenty myself. He cane to us because he wanted our thoughts and maybe a little support, is that to much to ask? I think not, that is why we are here, to support each other. Personally I think he is probably ok, if the "closet" he was in was for data storage there would be large amounts of magnetic and electrical energy around which is most likely what screwed up his pass card. I don't believe any one would have canceled his security pass with him still in the building, especially unsupervised!

I believe the OP knew he might have been busted. Not sure he asked for 'support' or anything like that. Mainly helping people be aware to be careful when and how you vape. A good message in my opinion.

It's all part of the way public forums work.
The great part of it is that people browsing these threads can get various points of view about the issue. Also, I think after seeing this thread, more people will 'think twice' before whipping out a PV and blowing out a cloud of fog.

Somewhere down the line...many people feel like more and more civil rights are being trumped in the name of 'security' and "protecting the health of the public". Those boundaries do need to be tested constantly....otherwise we may find cameras in our own homes someday...monitoring the brand of carrots we eat! OK...a bit out there...but without checks and balances and public discussions it could possibly happen. It has before in some parts of the world (maybe not with cameras, but with he said she said spying...as bad or worse)!

Yepper!

I see you are a Jethro Tull fan and remember that song. They put out a lot of Great albums back in the day. But you knew that.

Something must be wrong with me and my brain
if I'm so painfully unrewarding
But my dreams are for dreaming and best left that way
And My Zero to Your Power of Ten Equals Nothing at All.

Why yes, yes it is too much to ask. He needs a good talking to and lecture. Because apparently looking up and seeing the big 'ol camera there and spending the whole weekend worring that he was fired wasn't enough remind him to never try that little trick again, he needs a little shaming. It's for the good of the community and all the future vapers after all.

And like you said earlier- NO, not everyone has "snuck a vape or cig break". Not everyone does that. I don't vape when I'm not supposed to. I respect my boss and my authority figures when they ask me to vape or smoke outside. To go hide in a closet or break the rules to get my "fix" is fiendish and childish.
Be an adult and have a little self control. I'm sure you'll flame on though...

If smoking is banned anywhere, why do we feel we should be excluded from that policy .. ?? It looks like smoking .. we live in a World of cameras and busy bodies .. excercise a little self restraint .. otherwise, when the e-cig gets more and more common, the ban will simply be ammended to include anything that looks like smoking .. and on most cameras, it's going to look like you are smoking something ..

And let's hope the security folks that view the footage don't think it's an illegal substance ..

OH but it already is! Because we have people that act like vaping is crack and can't pull the darn thing out of their lips for two seconds while they are AT WORK

OH I totally understand. He had a reason to worry!
I used to be that paranoid when I was a "peace pipe" smoking teen. I had a reason to worry.

We have people on here that are straight up ADDICTED to vaping. Some people can't STOP. It's like a pacifier!
Now people can't stop while they're at work? I've been vaping over a year and I have no problem quitting while I'm at work. I use 32 mg!

I'm just upset because people do things like this and THAT'S the reason why bans are being made. it also makes us look like crack heads- as if half the world doesn't think we are anyway!

I'm not going to flame you. I agree with a lot of what you said.

I just think in this instance, it's over and done with. The poor guy knows he shouldn't have. He just spent a miserable weekend worrying about if he was fired. I feel bad for him. He probably beat himself up enough about it.

Don't get me wrong...

I feel bad for the guy also. These are very tough time and losing your job is a very serious concern.

But losing your job because the company went out of business is one thing. Loosing your job because you sneak around taking hits off a PV is another.

Something to consider. Sometimes when people post points of views in threads it is solely for the OP. If one person besides the OP reads this thread and doesn't get fired for vaping on the job, wouldn't that be a good thing?

Right On bassthumper.

I'm glad you had the guts to say that. I've mentioned things like this in other threads and have been Flamed Severely.

So what? I'm addicted to coffee and vaping. Why is that anyone's business?

Now people can't stop while they're at work? I've been vaping over a year and I have no problem quitting while I'm at work. I use 32 mg!

I'm just upset because people do things like this and THAT'S the reason why bans are being made. it also makes us look like crack heads- as if half the world doesn't think we are anyway!

Wrong. That's not the reason why companies are banning vaping - they are banning it because they CAN.

Who cares if uninformed people think you're a crackhead? They're obviously not very bright, so their opinion is largely irrelevant.

I'm not trying to keep this thread going or argue with you. I like you! I'm not an 'out there' vapor myself. Yes, I vaped in a bathroom stall at the hospital. I was a mess but I'd probably do it again. I'm not gonna lie, I had a few vapes of my peach juice.

Something to consider. Sometimes when people post points of views in threads it is solely for the OP. If one person besides the OP reads this thread and doesn't get fired for vaping on the job, wouldn't that be a good thing?

I think his first post did exactly that. His post was a wake-up call not to if there ever was one.

Do I think the responses and nasty remarks helped educate new people not to vape where they shouldn't? Do you?
