I am jealous of your rda! Mine is the ridiculous Smoktech model with the terrible airholes..

I must say, though, that my wicking looks terribly similar to yours. Do you manually fray the wick ends?

No, that's just the way I rolled the wick. I inserted it from right to left, and the left end was rolled tighter than the right so I could feed it through the coil; it was in a conical shape, and as I fed the pointed end through I kept pulling until I felt some resistance and stopped.

Lately I've been using less cotton and trying to roll the wick so that it is a uniform thickness of just slightly bigger than the interior diameter of my coil and it seems to work better.

Update.

Got really tired of the high resistance microcoil, despite a quality vape. Changing batts too much for my taste. But I only had 32awg kanthal..

Then I read about twisting wire. So I twisted a good length of my 32 and wrapped it 6/5 around a 1/16''
drill bit. I metered it on my Vamo and to my surprise it came out at 0.9ohms. Obviously a Vamo won't fire that and I wouldn't dare put that on an eGo batt, so it just went in the drawer. I coiled another 10 wraps on the bit and it metered 1.6ohms. Even glow after a little touchup.

Wow. Beautiful vape. Takes a bit longer to heat up certainly, but that I can live with. The flavor and vapor out of this coil is truly INTENSE. I might pick up a mech and play with that subohm coil I accidentally built, but for now I am in vaper's heaven. Just a gorgeous vaping experience.

EDIT: Forgot, I also drilled a 1/16" airhole in the RDA housing and plugged up the original, terrible airholes. Made a huge difference as well.
