i make all my juices 50/50. i followed your video vapdivrr (nice house by the way looks beautiful) and after a few more puffs i think the wick got more saturated so it hits better (thats one thing i didnt do was soak my coil like you did, just a few drops here and there i was afraid of flooding) now its blowing as much vapor as say my protank mini 3. should it be producing more vapor? i didnt notice any airflow obstruction although there is adjustable or at least what i think is adjustable airflow and i loosened the bolt. my results are much better. i was thinking about trying to twist up four strands of 32 gauge kanthal wire to lower my resistance. thats the next thing i need to buy is 26 gauge kanthal.

You've got some very good advice here but somehow vapdivrr missed something that I've found very important, diameter:length of the coil. You want a largish coil that will allow for a loose wick. I'm building my coils in a 2.4mm form (out of Ga 30 or 28). This gives me much more heating area. 32 is good for rebuilding atty heads with micro coils but Kfs work better with normal coils. Not very low on Ω either; I've found best 1.3~1.6. Of course these are sluggish coils, not lightning fast like micros but the vapor will be huge and the taste as well. Do heed the centering of the coil (transversally square) over the air hole. A 2.4 dia. coil will let you place a really loose thick wick that just touches the deck. You will be doing 8 sec fires but it's worthwhile.

Look at the video on the first page.

Buy 28g kanthal and do it exactly as he does. It will work unless you have a cheap clone. Forget about he twisted kanthal or any other tricks you've seen from more experienced builders.

I only use Hcigar KF 3.1 clones and EHPro KFL+ v2 clones. I use essentially the same process and I get great vapor and flavor from every one of my Kayfun builds without exception.

should i buy 26 or 28guage kanthal wire? all ive got now is 32, which is why i twist it to lower the resistance, two wraps of 32 guage is already like 7 ohms

Just recoiled my Russian and made a quick vid showing vapor production. It's a 1Ω coil with cotton. I'm using a Panzer Black Hawk and the Russian is filled with Bobas Bounty

Ugh! Boba's.

Yuck!

It's one of the few juices that abhorrent.

how much vapor should i expeCT FROm a kayfun

A good amount, but it's not designed to be a cloud maker.

If vapor is your primary concern, a Kayfun will only ever be a disappointment. It can give you good amounts, but it's not a dripper.

As soon as I have a computer in front of me I'll post a link to a coil calculator.

The one I use is this spreadsheet.

If you want a good online coil calculator check Steam Engine

In my Android smartphone I have Vaper's Toolbox. A must!

I tried to post yesterday but ECF was down or something... I could never connect.

28.

I am currently experimenting with 26g (10 wraps around 2.4mm), but even though it's producing a great vape, it spits entirely too much as the coil heats. I can't currently recommend 26g for the Kayfun because I haven't figured out a build with that works to my satisfaction.

Just use single wire, twisted coils dont work too good for me.This tank is not designed for sub ohm builds, the vapour will burn your lips,i use 28 ga at 5 wraps for 1.2 ohm, works perfect, raise the coil above the airhole as much as possible.

That really depends on what you're calling "sub ohm". Personally, I hate that term. If we are talking 0.2-0.5Ω, then I'd agree. There's no benefit to building a Kayfun style atomizer this way.

However, I prefer my Kayfuns at 0.8-0.9Ω for use on my mechs. Still technically "sub ohm" (Less than 1 Ohm) And that's far from burning your lips off.

For the OP, if I build my Kayfuns using 26ga wire to achieve the coil size and resistance I prefer. 28ga works well also, especially if you're trying to keep your resistance a bit higher. Save anything higher gauge for regulated mods. 30ga is perfect for a regulated mod such as the MVP where higher resistance actually gets you a better overall result.

The links provided above for coil calculators are FANTASTIC, and are a great tool to help you get the result you're looking for on the first shot. I use the excel spreadsheet version and it's dead on. For these Kayfun's I usually figure a leg length of .25" and in doing so, my coil builds have been very predictable.

I keep reading these post saying that the KFL is not a cloud maker? It out clouded all my atties and higher resistances. If built right, and it does take a bit of getting the placement of your wick just right, its amazing. Depending on thickness of your juice one has to play with amount of wick material place properly on the channel. Just my opinion, but it makes giant clouds with 50/50 and heavy to 100% VG juice.
