Go ahead and use the ego battery with the dual coils. I do it all the time. They will not last as long between charges as you are drawing more current but other than not being recommended, as long as the battery will fire it go ahead and use it. The one draw back is that like the 510 mega battery the voltage is regulated so what you get is all your going to get out of it =] You will probably shorten the usable life of the battery because of the extra stress you are putting on it but what the heck.

You will ultimately want a variable voltage device so you can dial in the voltage that works best for the carto you have attached. I can't personally recommend a VV as I built mine myself. However I have heard nothing but good about the Darwin, except $$$$$$$$$$$$.... If I would have spent the $$$$$$$$$ on a Darwin to begin with I wouldn't be over $500 bucks into the hobby in two months. Of course I wouldn't have had as much fun either =]

With the ego batt that is missing the switch you might be able to just find something that will fit down inside the opening to replace the button top. I'm thinking if you have a sewing box you could find something that you could set in there to be able to push the switch. I'm thinking of something like one of those little stick on jewels. As long as the switch still functions all you need is something that you can push on to activate it. If you find something just put a tiny drop of hot glue on it and stick in. Just be careful not to put too much on as it can glue the switch itself into position if your not careful. You can just use the tip of a pen to see if the switch still works or not.

It's true that the dual-coil cartomizers are not recommended for an eGo battery, but they do work. I'm sure they drastically shorten the life of the battery and can probably kill one. They should not cut down the vapor production that noticeably though.
I would disagree.
:)

The Ego is not a true 3.7 volt battery, it only runs at 3.2 volts under load.
The same is true for the 510 standard and mega batteries.

A true 3.7 volt battery should make a noticeable difference.

It really isn't that noticeable with the dual-coil. I don't know why, there's definitely a difference between the two with Boge Regular or LR.

LOL DC2 (I'm sure you think I'm nuts), I know I haven't been at this long, but I have been vaping like a maniac since I gave up smoking - it's been a full time job with 5 hours of sleep. The dual-coil cartos are really different.
No, I don't think you're nuts... yet.
I'll wait for others to respond before making a final decision.
:)

As I said, I have no experience with the dual coils.
So as far as I know something could be different about using them.

There is a definite difference between an ego and 3.7 mod. You can find some ego clones that do run at 3.7V. I have used my 1.5 dual coils on an 808 auto batt and they where definitely hotter than the ego. They drew too much current for the 808's however and I had to quit trying that.=]

That the beauty of the variable voltage. It doesn't matter what carto you are using you can dial it in to the level that works for you. =]

hoosierecigsupply.com
Hoosier has 1.25ohm dual coils that will give you more hit than the 1.5's. You can order just one to start to see if it works for you. They are $2.20 apiece. These are what I prefer. They however don't have the convenience to be able to see your level of the clear carto. Again your battery life will suffer even more with these but I love the hell out of them. I am running them at just over 4V and yea if you are not careful you can start getting nauseous and headachey from to much nic... Also, they do seem to gunk up a little quicker causing the draw to tighten up. I just dial up my voltage when this happens to burn through it for a couple of vapes=]

Remember, with dual coils it is even more important to keep them moist to keep them running for several days. I am on day 2 of a 1.25 right now and expect to get at least another day if not two out of it.

what is the "Lipton pyramid bag trick"?

replace the filler in your cart with a lipton tea bag material increases vapor production and taste.... i use it on my magma from volcano for in the car. PTB works fine theres many videos on youtube of how to "proporly" do it

Vape on

thanks, I plan to do just that and hope that I don't kill any batteries in the process.

You might as well go ahead and use your eGo battery this weekend because you'll smoke anyway if you don't use it. Fill up a new dual-coil, charge the battery well, and practice vaping. If you can go without smoking while it's recharging, then that's great, if not, oh well - but start vaping again as soon as it is charged. Yes, your battery might give out next month, but you can consider it your learning battery.

thanks for the suggestion. I will look around at Micheal's this weekend and see if there is something I can rig up. The battery works fine with a pen pushing through.

I hope so too.

I should have commented on your health too before.. my husband is 55 and has the beginning signs of COPD plus some cardiovascular issues due to smoking. He's also at 50 days of vaping and no smoking, and the difference it's made so far is phenomenal. I don't hear any wheezing from him now. He's hoping that he can cut down on his Combivent inhaler soon.

I know that everyone who has kept up with this thread feels bad that you've gone through so much frustration with equipment. I'm sure the burnt cartos were the worst. I hope that it isn't long before you find the perfect setup that works for you.

This is probably the difference for me, I'm using a Riva. If you're using the duals on an eGo, they must do alright though?

The ego just doesn't have a lot of horse power, That is why i went to the 1.25 dual. The 1.5 was only a little stronger than the 2.0 single =] The 1.25 seem to run a lot hotter than anything else. However if I hadn't found the 1.25's i would have probably been happy with the 1.5's. Ignorance is not always bliss but just the status quo =]
