If anyone has had or is having the same issue I'm having with harshness, I'd appreciate any feedback.

One suggestion is to add a little Glycerin (VG) to your liquids. This will help dilute the nicotine level, dilute the flavor a little, dilute the PG level, thicken the e-liquid, help to blend the e-liquid, produce more vapor, and lessen the harshness. You can buy a 6-ounce bottle of Glycerin at Walmart for $3. It can be found on the shelf above the rubbing alcohol products in the pharmacy section. I usually add 20% to 33%, depending on the nicotine strength and how much I want to dilute it, to my juices when creating the final RY4/caramel apple with nuts mixture. Experimenting with the percentage will help you find how much you need to keep the flavor but reduce the harshness of the nicotine level and possibly PG level.

If you add too much Glycerin (which has a slight sweet taste), the flavor will be more fizzy, like the carbonation in soda water.

Again, I wasn't kidding when I said it may all be in how you take your draw. It does make a big difference for some people. I had to teach my mom how to use one. Some people simply need to learn how to use their e-cig. It's not a cigarette, and you can't treat it like one.

I may be entirely wrong in your case, but experimenting with how you take a drag is the best first option, considering you can do that right now and it will cost you nothing.

I had the exact same problem as you with the lung harshness. It took me weeks to try and figure it out. I also have the KR808 from V4L. I have tried juices from Velvet Vapors, Vaperite, Backwoods Brew, vapables, Ms. T's, Johnson's Creek and I definitely concur with some of the people here: VG is the answer.....at least for now. 100% VG makes all the difference in the world. I'm still relatively new and I find even 50-50 mixes it's too harsh. The best and most mellow juice I've ever had are the organic VG juices from vaperite.com. I have the honey flue cured (sort of sweet tobacco-ey) and banana's foster (as well as about 10 others). You get tons of vapor (I mean tons) but none of the burning. Don't know what kind of difference this makes but I also use V4L's CoolCart's blank cartomizers.

Wow! Thank you everyone. Based on the feedback I received here, I plan to place my first order for juice this week and give vaping another shot. Being a menthol smoker, I'm going to try FSUSA's Newport menthol...hopefully the tobacco element of this flavor isn't too strong/sweet. It's a 50/50 mix so hopefully this will dilute some of the chest/throat harshness. Also greencity's reply led me to Vaporite.com where they have a "design your own menthol"! Trying to decide between the 70 VG/30 PG mix or the 100% VG. If I go the 100% route, should I up my nicotine level? I originally started with 11mg being a half-a-day smoker. And lastly, for juice, I'm curious about Halo but can't seem to find their VG/PG ratio. With a juice plan in place here some other questions:

1: Ordering juice is all new to me. I originally assumed that I would just be ordering cartomizers for my V4L Shorty and would eventually work my way up to filling cartomizers. Since I'm here already without much vaping experience, can anyone recommend a good quality blank cartomizer for a KR808 Shorty (D1?)? The V4L CoolCart's sound like they would be exactly what I'm looking for...something to cool the heat, but I've read mixed reviews. If there are other similar cooling carts out there I'd be interested in hearing about those. Maybe longer cartomizers?

2: Emptying & Refilling unused Cartomizers? With my V4L Shorty Starter Kit I have about 10 prefilled cartomizers. Mostly menthol and some coffee flavors. I've sampled 5 of those but they are I'd say 85% full of their original China juice. I realize most refill finished flavor carts. But, since I'm ordering blank cartomizers, is it worth it to empty, clean and refill these used and unused carts? Is emptying a practically full cartomizer and cleaning a hassle?

3: Whistle tip cartomizers or adaptors? Does anyone make a whistle tip cartomizer that will easily fit a KR808 Shorty battery?

4: Does anyone make a good USA made VG>PG menthol KR808 cartomizer? I know I'm trying the juice with blanks but am curious about this.

Thanks again for all of your help. I look forward to checking back in tomorrow.

YAY! Great to hear you're sticking with it. I'm fairly new to all this myself and I related to your question. For me, it didn't feel like quitting analogs was going to "stick" until I started ordering juice and filling blank carts (I use 808s, 1 shorty and 2 regulars.) Maybe find a flavor you like and then buy 2 bottles of the same, but with one 100% VG and one blend? With the 100% VG I've tried, it seems like I can barely tell the nicotine's in there and I feel like I'm at risk of getting too much cause I just vape away. There really is a lot of vapor to it though, which is fun! I have had decent luck with the blank V4L coolcarts but I'll be watching this thread to see what else people recommend, I'd like to know what else is out there. Have not tried the washing out yet but they're expensive enough it seems like it would be worth the effort.
