First experience kissing a smoker as an ex-smoker

First let me say that I wish I could apologize to every non-smoker I ever kissed!

I started smoking before I started kissing... A couple years before, as a matter of fact. I have dated mostly, but not all, smokers during the time I smoked, and even quit a few brief times, but never really dated when I wasn't smoking.

When I first started vaping, I was a dual user with no intention of quitting analogs... And soon began dating a smoker, who would share a cigarette with me before we kissed. About a month ago, after I hit that "This is so disgusting and disappointing" epiphany while sharing a cigarette with her... I stopped, one drag in, and handed it back to her.

Before the next time I saw her, I had gathered a basic setup for her, as she expressed an interest in switching to vaping. She did good for quite awhile on just vaping, but she wasn't satisfied by it and she was ready to switch back as soon as someone offered her some rolling tobacco. Oops.

A couple days later we actually shared our first kiss since she had started smoking again and omg! I mean I'm not going to pressure her into switching back to vaping just to please me but omg, that taste, lol

This is interesting. It's been 2 1/2 years since I've had a smoke but I still appreciate the smell of cigarette smoke. I do not however like the smell of an ashtray. My wife quit smoking about four years before I switched to vaping and I've not kissed a smoker intimately since I quit smoking. I think I would feel the same way about it as you do Babz, but the depth of the relationship would probably have an impact on this for me.

I'll ask my wife how she felt about kissing me after she quit and I was still smoking and let you know what she says. I'm curious now too :)

Hee hee, I like this topic. My girlfriend was a non-smoker, and oh how long-suffering she was. We had a LDR so whenever we got a hotel room, she made sure we had a smoking-allowed room. I was the kind of smoker who always had gum and Purell hand sani with me. But yes, you're right, the "kissing an ashtray" is very, very true. But hey, at least you got to kiss a gal, that's worth everything, in my opinion!! :) :)

This might be TMI, but my girlfriend never liked the smell of "smoke" per se, but she liked the spicy smell of tobacco on my moustache. She said there was a difference. When I vaped Halo's original "Turkish" (they changed the formula, even though they say they didn't!), she told me it reminded her of those early days.

Interesting topic but come to think about it, I don't know because I can't remember being kissed in a long long time other than a peck on the cheek. :) Is that normal for a 25 year old marriage.

Take your man, throw him against the wall, and plant a big, sloppy, wet one on him. ;-) Don't give him a choice! :)

I've been married almost 31 years, and I'd say that is pretty normal. People take each other for granted after a time. Stuff happens, love changes. It's not like the Hallmark movies, and we don't live so happily ever after. But you've been together this long for a reason. There must be something there, still.

My husband and I have had our differences and there was a distance between us. But when he was diagnosed last month with stage IV cancer, and we realized odds are he'll be gone in a few months, well, you think differently.

I never thought I'd lose him. I never stopped to think about why I was married to him in the first place. I never realized all that he is in my life.

And as for kissing, I don't care if he still smokes...

My wife still smokes a PaD and I cant abide the smell of smoke on people now, but oddly enough I am not bothered by it when kissing her. I guess that means I still love her?

^^ This ^^

If the chemistry is there... smell and taste doesn't matter. Obviously some things are more enjoyable than others. But if everything has to be perfect in order to get the heart engaged... might be a good sign that you may not be with "the" right person.

Smoking affects the taste of everything on a person. *wink wink*. Beyond that...

There are some things people do that leave a taste in their mouth...on their hands...on other bits of anatomy, that don't seem to bother partners.

Being in a relationship with someone where all that goes on is...for lack of a word...blinding to all flaws and unpleasant characteristics.
