I prefer mech mods, just me. Go for you like, there are so many out there now and most of them are good devices. if your not into high wattage or voltage you will be very content with a mech, you can also add a kick if want some adjustability. Most mechs are built on the same principle "complete the circuit" operation. I would not suggest buying something because it's inexpensive, figure your budget and get the best quality mod you can afford. That's how I try to do it, somehow I always go over by budget though???? I just got a elements mods tree of life and I love it.

Mech mods have there place, my first mech was a Puresmoker Icon, followed by Reo Minis.
What you need to ask yourself before settling on a first mech is do you want a bottom switch, pinky switch (gg style), or side switch (roller/dingo style), and what size batteries do you plan on using, do you want to be able to use different batteries? If so get one with changeable tubes or one that telescopes.
That all being said, check out the pros and cons of each mod your considering there plenty of information on any mod you could want out there.

ok guys i jus wanna say thanx to everyone for helping me buy my first mod. i decided to go with the nemesis with the magnet switch with a patriot RDA. i also got the nitecore i4 charger and some kanthal wire. however i did not purchase the batteries online because i am not sure of the international shipping rules for them and i didnt want any problems with customs. hopefully i should be able to find some out in town at a computer electronic store or something. oh yeah and i got the 28ga kanthal. i am so excited. i just hate the fact that it'll take nearly 2 weeks
