Hi all....Just wanted to introduce myself....

I have been researching e-cigs through this forum as well as through various websites and talking to a couple of friends who have just started vaping, for about 2 weeks. I'm a single mom of 2, have tried to quit using the patch twice....while it worked good (when I was mentally prepared to stop) it actually worked "too" good and I didn't follow the program...hence the reason I'm here....yep, still a smoker, and let me tell you the guilt is overwhelming because my kids were SO happy I finally stopped (when I did).

A friend of mine bought a cheap starter kit (I wouldn't even insult this forum with the name) and I was actually impressed with how much like an analog it felt/tasted like. So, here I am, ready to switch to e-cigs.

I am ordering my starter kit tomorrow and am SO excited to give up analogs once and for all so I can be around to watch my children grow up!

Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Thank you....I'm very excited! My only question now is when would you vape? when you would normally have an analog? Eventually I want to stop completely (I am starting off with nicotine, but eventually want to wean myself off). Being as it's so "easy" to just get the fix as opposed to having to "hide" when having an analog, I don't want to "smoke" more than I normally would. And when you do vape....being as there is no .... to put out, how do you know when you're done? Does that make sense? Hope so....

Welcome EP. I purchased two starter kits ( Blu and Premium ) before I purchased my 510. The Blu and Premium got me to cut back on cigs but the 510 got me off them completely. Dont get discouraged if you cant quit day one. Stay vigilant and try out a few different things.

And don't forget that you have an amazing resource right here at these forums for both information and support. We've all been right there. You can do it!

Hi Electric Power...
Welcome to the ECF. And congratulations on your attempt....I know its so hard when you fall back, but remember you were just practicing. :) It may help if you start thinking of it as changing your habbit....instead of breaking your habbit. You will find loads of information in here regarding peoples experiences with various products, shared information on how to make things work better, even the success stories are moving. I wish you luck with your transition and remember we're here for each other.

Hi Electric Power,

When I first started vaping, I started on a Joye510 and 25mg of juice. It was awesome, except the juice was too high of mg for me, and I had headaches. Next order I cut down to 18mg and 2 30ml juices, and that was better. After that, down to 12mg, and that is what was right for me. Since then, I have begun blending my own juices from the tips I got in the DIY subforum here at ECF. That way I can vape whatever mg I choose for the mood I'm in.

And as for when will you know when you're through vaping -- you won't, you just vape until you're satisfied enough to move on to another activity. Just do what feels natural, since there is no right or wrong or time limits. Some ppl chain vape. Some ppl vape for only a few minutes like when they smoked. You'll find what's right for you. At first, you'll probably vape a lot b/c the flavors are rather pleasing. After the newness wears off, it will be less.

Good luck on your new vaping pursuit, and welcome to ECF. Be sure and check out the ECF Library -- lots of tips and good advice.

Thank you MrGrimme and Fire....I am actually ordering the King Vapor through Vapor4Life. That's the one my buddy is using now, and he really likes it. His father, a smoker of many, many years tried it after using others (including Blu) and is now completely smoke free.

Fire....I think you're right....all of us smokers who have started that transition, have always put so much pressure on ourselves that it makes us fail time and time again. I for one, am soooo over feeling horrible about my addiction and I want to be able walk next to my children again :)

I vape full-time and have ever since I got my Riva. I started out with 18mg juice, but I still had some cravings for an analog, so I bumped the nic level to 24mg. Now I vape both levels. You basically vape until you're satisfied. I vape for a few minutes then I put it down for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or so. It depends on where I am and how much I feel the urge to vape. I don't deny myself. I vape when I feel I need or want to vape. I hope that answers your question!

Thank you!!! That's exactly what I needed to know because I don't want to overdo it and get sick from nicotine....although I was (am) smoking about a pack (give or take) of Marlboro Lights and have been smoking roughly 25 years.

When you first start, be prepared to vape like you just got a new toy! I got a few very low nic juices so that I could vape as often as I wanted without worrying about over doing it. I still actually do that, now that I have a few favs, I order one in my normal nic level and one of the same flavor in zero...that way I never feel like 'I shouldn't'

welcome to ecf!!!!!

I've been vaping for just over a month now and I would recommend getting extra cartomizers when you start.

I quit regular cigarettes for about a week straight when I first got my e-cig but ran out of cartomizers... which sent me back to smoking for a couple of days until my order came in :( I smoked extra lights for most of the 4-5 years I was smoking and I started with 6-8 mg juices. At first I used it the same times I used to smoke then I starting using it almost everywhere alot more than I usually smoked. That lasted a couple of weeks but now the novelty factor has kind of worn off and I've slowed down using it as often. (There's some days where i just use it in the morning and basically forget it until the evening)

So don't worry about using it too much at first because it's 1000x healthier than real smokes :)

Sometimes I think tinkering with cartridges and cartomizers to refill them is easier than changing a light bulb. Then again, I have very high ceilings in my house and one very oddly placed light fixture at the top of the stairs. The lights in the living room require either an extension arm with a bulb changing adapter, or a ladder to change them. I have M.S. so balance is sometimes an issue for me, and climbing a ladder would be a really bad idea.

Refilling a cart or a carto doesn't require any climbing and the worst that could happen is I drop something made of plastic. I think I'll take my chances with dropping the plastic while both feet are on the floor. LOL!

Thanks Kris...I'm seeing alot of people here using juices...I'm ordering a cartomizer....I don't need to do anything but replace them right? I'm so not the type to tinker with anything. I can't even change a lightbulb ;)

You can just order cartomizers and do it that way or you can order juice and refill your cartomizers, there are videos to show you how.
