So I took the plunge and scored a sweet Reo woodvil off the classifieds last night! Need some quick help, kinda tight for time, so admittedly I didn't research as much as I'd like.

Question about batteries. These are what I've been instructed to buy. Yes/no?
AW IMR 18650

I also want a few of these with matching charger for 5v, they the right ones? Thanks to Wanttoquit's thread about 5v, it is what put me over the edge lol..
4.8V NiMH 600mah Battery

Also there's two 18650 chargers listed, the ultrafire WF 188 and the 139. Does it make a difference?

Thanks all for the help! I hope I love this thing as much as you all seem to love yours!

Cheers!

4.8V NiMH Battery Charger

You can only use the above charger for the 4.8V NiMH batteries.

The WF 139 allows use with a 12 volt adapter (cigarette lighter plug in a car) and the WF 188 does not.

Hmmm interesting... So I'm deciding between charging different sizes, and portability? Thanks for the info!

I doubt I'll need to charge anything other then 18650's since this is my only mod lol, and having car access is pretty sweet!

Every time I think I'm done spending money, I find out I have to buy more stuff lol

Thanks for the advice guys!

I got my charger and batteries from Super T Manufacturing. Seems like they have some of the best pricing and cheapest shipping........ and everything is still working! Definitely get the IMR's!!

Congrats, you got a really beautiful Reo!!

Thanks and thanks again lol!

I'll check out super t, but I'm pretty sure they won't ship to me because they have a dealer here in Canada. I like this rtd so far because it's all there, and decently priced. Easy is better haha..

I have one of these: 1 UltraFire BRC 18650 3000mAh Battery coming with it, is it safe to use? I heard something about cooking these with the wrong battery, I will most likely be using an adapter a lot of the time as I have a ton of 808 cartos. Also any safety concerns with the 4.8v batts?

Thanks everyone, I know this has all been asked 100 times, but I appreciate you guys being patient and making me feel like it's the first lol!
Is it safe to use

The UltraFire battery you have may be too tall to let the spring collapse and break the circuit in the event of a short from your atty, carto, adapter, or whatever might happen. It also probably won't perform as well as the AW IMR batteries recommended by Rob.

The 4.8V batteries are safe but don't last as long as 3.7V batteries. They also require 5 hours on the charger, regardless of the LED indicator on the charger.

Ok I'm almost done I swear!

So I'm going to order 3 4.8v's and a charger! I figure that should get me started.

The IMR aw batteries, are they the high drain? What kind of battery life and charge time can I expect? Is this effected by which charger i buy? Also, if I order a couple of them, are they suitable for other tube mods and things I may buy down the road?

Yeah I read once that you can tell when it's shorting, and as long as you don't cook the spring it can still be safely used.

Considering that this sub forum isn't clogged with endless posts about shorted reo's, am I safe to assume that it's unlikely to have a problem? How many of you have used adapters successfully?

You mean if the spring collapses. The Damage is only the spring. That's the point of the thin spring. I haven't had any issues with that. It probably wouldn't hurt to have a spare just in case.

Thanks guys! From all I've read, these things are bulletproof so I'm not that worried. Just want to be safe.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be ordering a spring right now lol. Had the credit card out, made it all the way to checkout, and saw the $25 international shipping haha! Just too crazy for a $4 spring lol, I'm going to try the "cross my fingers and hope I never need one" method to start!

Thanks again everyone, I'll be placing my battery order now and can't wait to get wood!
