I am only two weeks in to the experience and have fully engrossed myself in all the information I can, albeit overwhelming for a first timer! Everything started well and as I am sure with most first timers bought a number of flavor samplers from a few different vendors and accessories as well. The last three days I am having lots of trouble with my tank leaking, burnt flavors, and other growing pains along the way so far. I bought the Kangertech Evod starter kit with clearomizer and have since upgraded to the ProTank Mini 2. I thought I had the right coils, but upon further reading it seems I put in a 1.8 when the kit came with a 2.2. I realize the differences on the vaping experience in regards to ohms, but could that be causing bigger problems with the battery or the juice not hitting right? Did I restrict my options on interchangeable parts by purchasing the Evod? I think maybe I have been buying the wrong upgrades, but they seem to fit or come with an adapter.

Hi and Welcome to ECF!

Using a 1.8 Ohm coil on a fixed voltage battery should be fine. If you are getting dry/burned hits you are having a wicking issue. Is this occurring with a high or all VG ratio liquid?

You did not restrict yourself at all. An Evod battery has both standard threading types 510/eGo. So most things should work. You would only need an adapter for less common options like 808, but finding something beyond a cartomizer with 808 you should be good to go.

1.8 on an evod topper should be fine. Also, same heads on the Protank I and II. Perhaps too much heat, try lowering your vv evod battery. Leaking has several causes but always a lost pressure seal is the failure, though several causes. This blog by State O'Flux may help:

Good luck, and welcome to the Forum!

Thank you all for the warm welcome and feedback. I have been using a 70/30 PG/VG juice. I disassembled everything last night and let it soak in an alcohol/warm water mix(battery excluded).Today I let it dry and just replaced the o-rings with the spares they sent and seems to be fine. I think the bad flavor may have been the juice itself. Now reading more about steeping. I had no clue how much was involved and the options when I bought my starter kit, definitely exciting!

Welcome! There is a whole lot you can learn, but you got a good starter kit, and in no time at all you'll have it down. It doesn't take much to get the hang of it, and if you have some self-restraint (something I don't have) you can go with your existing setup for a long time. Unfortunately I keep finding new cool things to buy & try.
