Been drip vaping until yesterday when i tried a ce4 clearo i bought from little shop of vapors (excellent supplier btw). Taste is muted and taste like burnt plastic in background

using vamo v2
ce4 reading 2.5ohms and set mod to 4.5v

I've also noticed that vaping at 5v i get less flavor, so i needed to tune down to 4.5v. Dripping with a smoktek atty reading 2.6 ohms at 5v is simply awesome.

anybody else have similar experience?

Clearos are never going to give you a dripping experience. What a clearo does for you, is get rid of the constant dripping. But some taste will be sacrificed.

Having said that, I 'd drop the voltage even further if you are having a muted taste. Top coil clearos don't need as much voltage.

You might also want to take it apart and clean with warm water and dry it. Sometimes factory dust or whatnot can get in there. I generally rinse mine before using. Finally, you dont say what juice ratio you are using. Anything heavy VG isn't going to be optimal. I won't got more than 50/50 on most juices.

Yes, same here. I had stopped using clearos a few months ago and began using pyrex cartotanks exclusively since that time.

I bought a couple of clearomizers a couple of weeks ago specifically to bring to an indoor rock concert. I was concerned of losing my more expensive cartotanks should security confiscate my gear, so I wanted a less expensive alternative for the concert. I tried them out and experienced the same as you did. I ended up finding a couple of inexpensive polypropylene DCT tanks that I had stopped using in favor of the pyrex tanks, and used those instead.

I'll likely not use the clearomizers again, their performance was disappointing to say the least.

Generally juice in a clearo or a Vivi tank is always a little weaker in flavor. Try turning your voltage down and slowly work your way up until you hit that sweet spot. Also some flavors taste great at high voltage while others are better at a lower voltage. I add extra flavor in my DIY juice- some vendors offer extra flavor hits also.

Will try some leftover 50/50 then. Don't know how much vg/pg ratio in my juice. i buy from a local brick and mortar shop who does fine with local business. All his juices taste 100% natural and he brews them in his own lab all the way down to his flavorings. will ask him how much vg next time i'm there. I don't want to switch juice suppliers (bought from a company that rhymes with ezbland, and all flavors tasted either artificial or downright nasty) so if he's vg i'll go back to drip.

TY for input

The VG can be tough to wick.

I don't know if you've tried one or not but I think the Vivi Nova tank, which is somwhat similar to the clearos you are using work quite a bit better. They are 510 threaded though so you wouldn't get that seamless look.

Agree. About a mos. ago i popped a mega dual coil 1.5 on my 5v wow. Much better (with same juice) than clearo, but still not nearly like a drip atty.

If it's freshly made juice sometimes it needs to be steeped. As for VG heavy juices:

Juice Components
Flavoring usually about 15%- could be higher or lower depending on the flavor used.
PG enhances flavor, TH and lung hit- water like
VG= vapor and can mute flavor- thick
Nicotine- TH, lung hit and our need for nicotine. The MOST important ingredient in regards to TH and lung hit.
Standards in the industry are 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG.

I'm assuming the steeping is just for the flavors marrying, not for carto/clearo performance.

Only for taste- some juices from smaller vendors are fresh and need to "age". Larger vendors generally mix in large batches and store on the shelf. Although I've used the clearos I prefer the Vision Vivi Nova BUT it is also plastic and some have reported a plastic taste.

If it's too thick to wick well, you can add a small amount of PG or a drop of distilled water to thin it out, but proceed slowly with a small amount. Too much dilution can reduce flavor and vape thickness.

My experience with clearos is that genuine Vision eGo clearos, v1 and v2, work very well for a few weeks, then I replace them. There are many copies that use inferior wick or have coils would a little too tight so that they don't wick as well and get a burning taste easily. I wasted money on ones that looked good and were crap from the first vape. As long as they are genuine Vision I haven't had any problem using 1.6-1.8 ohm at 3.7-4.2 volts.

One last point. If you are vaping acidic juices it could very well be the juice is eating the plastc away thus causing the plastic taste- not a good idea to vape acidic juices in plastic tanks. A long thread listing acidic juices

i am totally confused now, cause i thought and heard that clearos were the way to go. so now they aren't? my head it be spinnin'! i use kanger t3s and the only real prob i have is embarrassing slurpy noises.

so if i decide to go with something else, what should i go with. it has to fit on my e-go twist tho.
Clearomizers and the Vivi Nova tanks are often recommended to beginners because they are easier to fill with juice. Many people find their performance to be great, many do not. I always found them to be very inconsistant, your results may vary.

I prefer cartotanks much more, it's all I use beside my RBA which I finally have working with a superior vape than my cartotanks. If you are unfamiliar with cartotanks, read the end of this article that I wrote about common juice delivery devices:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blogs/baditude/3230-1-proper-terminology-carto-tank-what-primer-juice-delivery-attachments.html

If you are interested in more information about cartotanks, then read this tutorial I wrote:

I have a DCT tank and I cannot make it work for the life of me. All I get is hot air no flavor what so ever. I have tried 2 cartos in it, one i filled put in tank filled and used. The next one I filled the carto and tank and let sit for a day. I got the same crappy results both ways. Now I have the tank and 3 cartos just sitting around :(
I keep going back to my mini vivi novas they perform the best for me and no polyfill taste from the carto.
Not sure if that helps you or not :)

To fix T3 you need to replace flavoring weeks with cotton week!

Couture, not saying my method is the best or only way to do it. There are hundreds of people using cartotanks successfully, and all have found their "best" method of doing it. I've detailed my method in my blog, and it has a video of a similar method that I use that might aid in understanding why I do what I do.

I recommend you follow the two links that I included in my previous post and see what you might have done differently with your tanks. Just know that most of us who are now successful went through a similar learning curve as you have, but learning what everyone else does successfully and applying it into your own method should spell success if you are determined.

Good luck. :)
