Hello,

I'm new to vaping and mixing and have so many questions that I don't even know where to start. The more research I do the more confuse I get! So here I am on ECF hoping to get some help!

1. Bought a 5V smoktek box (that's not variable and unable to return :glare:). It burns thru coil heads quicker then my freaking ejuice! I'm using a mini vivi nova with 2.4ohm & 2.8 coil heads, it would taste burnt after a few days and then just not even useable after a week! I have tried cleaning the heads every couple of days, but it still does not taste the same as if when I first start with a new one.

2. I have bought a few bottles online that had really good reviews, but pretty much taste and smell like crap! I don't want to throw it away because stupid frugal me made the noob mistake of buying 30-50ml bottles.

So frustrated!!! Can anyone help me?

I would be so grateful if anyone can help me fix or point me in the right direction for these newbie mistakes!

Well since you seem to have vivi nova's, you could give it try and rebuild your coils to have slightly higher resistance.
Get some silica and a nice thin kanthal wire and do plenty loops when making a coil, 6 or 7 even maybe.
Plenty good youtubes out there to rebuilding a vivi. A multi meter thingy might be good to have.

Otherwise just spend a few bucks and get some regular Ego batteries and a charger.

Keep the smoktek till you a bit more 'educated' and equiped (no offense meant), in itself it's not a bad device.

Very likely you just frying your liquid hence it tastes like crap.

1. Try building like Steve says or switch to a Rebuildable Atomizer Rebuildables/Tanks That way you can adjust the wire strength to match the output of your Smoktec. It will taste cleaner for longer.

2. No one can help you with that. Most of us probably have mostly full bottles of ejuice we don't like. It's just part of the journey to finding the ones you do like. Buy smaller sample packs of 10ml bottle until you find some different juices you like. The ones you don't use, put up for sale or trade on the classifieds.

As for...

1. With a 5 volt device you should be using higher resistance heads/cartomizers/attomizers. Something around 3.0 to 3.2 ohms would likely be a better choice. How much time/use you can realize from any head/carto/atty before it needs to cleaned or replaced will vary by juice juice, i.e., thickness, darkness, sweetness, etc., as well as the voltage of your PV/APV. With my cartos I get three to four days using some juices, and well over a week using other juices.

2. Some juice needs time to steep/age before vaping, some doesn't. That juice you don't like now, you might like down the road a little, some you will never like; Write it up to experience. Most vendors have sample packs that allow you to try their wares in small quantities before making a larger purchase. When it comes to juice, expect the unexpected as far as likes and dislikes. This is much too subjective for anyone to tell you what you will like.

You are only a month into this lifestyle choice, it does get better and easier, but it takes time. I am 18-plus months into vaping and I learn something new most every day. I would advise sticking to the basics - good reliable VV or VW device, emphasis on reliable, some Smok cartos, and a few sample packs from various vendors. Some that I like are Alien Visions E-juice, Johnson Creek, Virgin Vapor, and Hearther's Heavenly Vapes.

I also advise against sinking a large amount of money into any particular device, systems or gadgets until you have a little more experience so that you can be assured of getting something that will serve your needs over the long run.

Just my two cents, for what it is worth. Good luck!

whats up west? sorry to hear about your situation.
you will be able to sell your juices in the classifieds here as soon as your verified (at 25 posts)
(that doesn't mean you should spam the forum, because you wont get verified if you do, lol)
not that you would. But yeah, you'll be able to sell those juices, so I hope that eases ur mind.

In the mean time, lets see if we can help you get those juices tasting better!
I'm guessing your frying the crap out of them with your 5v box mod.
2.8 ohms is still a little too low for 5 volts. Which, is probably causing your coils to scorch ur wicks.
Your going to want to try to get your hands on some 3ohm vivi nova heads if possible.

If finding 3ohm vivi nova heads is impossible, you may want to try cartomizer tanks.
2-3 carto tanks and a pack of 3 ohm cartomizers can last you up to a month each.
pre-punched cartos are around 2 dollars each and they will last you up to a month.
cartomizers are the best option for finding 3ohm coils i'm guessing. 3ohm is what you need for 5v.

Don't be too discouraged.
Also, you can probably use the coils for your vivi nova tanks that you have now.
You'll just have to adjust your vaping style.
You have to try to take shorter drags to adjust and compensate for overpowering the coils.
A shorter drag will allow you to vaporize your juice without burning it while overpowering the coils.

GL man and keep asking questions.

Thanks everyone! Wow, wished I found ECF before I started vaping :)

Like Plumes.91 said...it's almost impossible to get 3ohm heads, been searching everyday but haven't been very successful. I will keep trekking and try all of your advices and see how it goes.

I'm thinking about just getting an Ego just to make my life a little less stressful. Any advice on that?

I was wondering if it's possible to add just flavors to the already premixed juice to make it better?
