Hi all,

I've been looking on the net at all the e cig sites, and am just overwhelmed by options and reviews, and this and that.

I'm 30 now, been smoking since I was about 15. 1/2 pack a day for the last several years, maybe up to a full pack on weekends. Mostly, 5 in the morning and throughout work, and 5 after work, in the evening. I am a marlboro light girl.

So, now I'm on the patch, on day 3. The patch helps a little with the cravings, but I find myself, wanting something to inhale, I miss the "activity" of smoking if that makes sense. I want to try an e cig that has nicotine in it (will NOT use along with the patch) mg of nicotine equivalent to the marlboro light.

I'm not looking for any fancy setups, flavors, etc. Just basic e cig with some cartrdiges, that preferably looks like a real cig. Some of the reviews I found online were saying green smoke is pretty good? I also don't care to spend a lot to start with in case it's not something that really works for me. Also, I am in the US if that helps. Hopefully I am not asking too many questions!

Thanks all! Enjoying reading the forum, but have a lot to learn apparently. Also, I would like to eventually use the ecig to wean off the nicotine. IE, start with higher dose nic, then lower dose eventually, and hopefully not need the e cig anymore, or just use socially if possible.

Thank you all if you made it this far!

I started out with the cig look a likes and found the batteries would die to quick .
The wife and i then bought ego's and that did the trick i since moved on .
The ego is bigger than a cig look a like though but battery life was important to us.
Many have started with an ego on the forum and quickly got use to it .
Good Luck in your quest .

...most of the "reviews" you read online thru Google and such were paid for by the company being reviewed...DON"T BELIEVE 'EM...for what you are stating you want I suggest what is known as a KR808D style PV...here are some links for your perusal........

I recently made the change to PVs, I was a pack a day smoker for 13 years and started at 15, after looking around and trying a few things myself I would suggest something like V2. Maybe not the brand, though I do like them, but at least the battery KR808 I believe, mine last me a couple of hours on a single charge, or all day with the charging cases you find everywhere. They look like a real cigarette, which was what I wanted, and there are tons of cartridges in tons of flavors and strengths, including zero nicotine if you want.

Also, I wouldn't bother with pre-filled cartridges or cartomizers. Get one of the kits from Madjack's list, some blank cartomizers and some juice to fill them with. There are lots of threads on here as to how to fill your cartomizers.

I recommend, as a juice, Tampa from VaporStation as a lot of Marlboro Light users seem to like that one, or better yet get a sample pack of juice. You'll probably want to start at 16mg to 18mg strength.

Welcome DC;
I started my e-cigarette with GreenSmoke.........very easy to adjust to since they look like a cigarette.....are automatic (the battery turns on when you suck on the thing) and have various choices when it came to selecting nicotine percentages .....
However....I found they worked well for like a week... very weak batteries and the cartomizer that are designed for the battery ...well some worked some did not.....like some seemed empty, no juice, nicotine, clogged, etc... anyhow I found this site and after reviewing different models and vendors, selected a vendor from the ecf vendor list, these guys have been vetted by the forum members and to my understanding, all are pretty reliable.
My suggestion is that you go with a manual battery (you have to push a button to turn the battery on when you inhale). It becomes second nature in no time using a manual e-cigarette. Get one with at least 900mAh, this will last you most of the day if not more. Mine were 1000mAh and lasted 12 hours.....but again it is how much use it gets. There are many models to select from ...and all below the initial cost of GreenSmoke....and some even give you a free bottle of juice (the flavor nicotine stuff)........... Good Luck DC.....others will chime in and give their opinions....it's a friendly helpful group here :)

Welcome to ECF!!

I started vaping on a $20 gas station pv! It was terrible!!! Then I bought a blu starter pack. It was okay for a while. It looked very nice, but didn't function well. It was very hit or miss. Then I found ECF! I bought an Ego after reading how many people on here like theirs. This worked well for me. I too was looking for something that looked like an analog and felt as close to an analog as possible, but in reality they just didn't work well enough for me to stop smoking. I have moved on from the ego, but it is still my backup if anything ever goes wrong. I would suggest starting out with a bigger battery right from the start if you are looking to save money. If you are really against the bigger batteries then go with a manual, and also something that has a PCC (portable charging case) so that you can recharge the batteries during the day if you are out and about.

Good luck!

A good starter kit is the Riva ego from Liberty Flights for $30. Also purchase some boge 2.0 cartomizers for it and purchase juice from a juice vendor.

If you decide to move up, you can use the 510 cartomizers on most pvs. If you want to go smaller, again you can use the cartomizers on the smaller pv (but only standard resistance cartomizers, not low resistance).

That's what I started with and it helped me quit. Very economical, very versatile- you can use carts, tanks, drip, etc. and batteries last a long time.

+100 for this advice. Go with a Riva or eGo kit from LF. I don't care for their juices but their hardware is good. The Boge cartomizers come empty so don't fire them on the batteries until you fill them. That is also simple to do and there are lots of youtube videos on it.

I would also suggest you resist the urge to buy a kit that is "cigarette" sized... If you have to go that route, I would suggest one of the 510 models from various vendors... They are probably the most popular of the "regular" cigarette size PVs and the produce a good vaping experience. The downside is battery life and having to constantly refill the cartridges with juice... Stepping up right away to the eGo sized battery will remove some of the frustrations with a 510 sized PV... BTW, I still use my Joyetech/TW Titan 510 from time to time. It hits very well for it's small size...

My sentiments exactly .... good luck and I hope you find all that you are looking, and most especially that you successfully stay off analogs.

Quoted for truth. That and I can only 'like' what you wrote once.

All the google links to reviews of ecigs don't even mention all the ones most of us are using. Try to find and Ego/Kgo/Riva, E-Power. Let alone all the mods like the Provari, Darwin, Lavatube, etc.

You'll find far more biased reviews here, but it's from folks that have lots of experience and tried those look-a-likes and found them lacking.

There are a couple look-a-like that do work, like the volt and others but do the research here and folks will tell you up front what they like and don't like about many of these products.

Yes to 510s. Avoid minis. If you are a lights smoker, you should probably start at a lower Nicotine level. Personally, I go for 24-36mg, which is really high. Try for either 4mg or 8mg strength and be careful- especially on the patch. In fact, if you're going to use the patch in tandem, you should really be using 0mg juice.

About Price. 510-T system is going to be your best starter option, IMO. More cigarette sized, you can get a white battery w/ clear cart (pretty close to cig-looking). My personal go-to site is liberty flights: Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye 510 The "KIT" for the 510-T is $50, but at the top left corner of the page, there should be a 20% off link. Click it and it'll be about $40. Or, alternately you could buy One battery, One Atomizer, One pack of Carts, one wall charger and some juice for about $40 before the discount. A kit will give you a better Idea of what you like.

Not enough vapor? try VG juice. if that doesn't help enough, get a bigger battery (Ego or Riva). don't worry you can use the same stuff with the Ego an Riva batteries.
