Hey all. So i just made my first attempt at making some fused claptons. Well. Lets just say it didnt go so well.

I now know this stuff aint easy. I used grimm greens video method. I used 2 cores of 26g nichrome80 and 36g kanthal as clapton. I had a hard time keeping the 36g from doubling back on itself. Out of 2 or so feet of wire i ended up only having about 8 inches if usable wire.

Another issue is i cant figure out how to straighten the wire when im done. It was very twisted and using my fingers didnt work, i guess it was just so tight i couldnt move the cores around.

Last issue, i went ahead and made 6 wraps of it and put it in my velocity clone i got it to heat up decently not perfect hardly. Took a few hits... Meh... And noticed my koopor plus kept asking me if i put on a new atomizer, the ohms keep jumping around from .5 to 1.0. It wont stay still. I checked the grub screws and its tight as a whistle.

Anyone have any suggestions? I went through alot and spent a bit of money to try this. Just kinda disappointed. But i know ill get it.

Thanks

Taptalk killed the res but you can kinda see how the wire didnt flaten out in the middle while wraping it. Its twisted in the middle.

I had that problem of overlapping the secondary wire so my solve for it was to make a foot at a time, not 4 feet like they do in the videos. I make 26/32 claptons and really enjoy them in my TFV4's. My clapton coil wrapping is still not at its best but its getting better with every build, its ornery stuff. I did read somewhere but I haven't had my ohms jump around to have to try is they removed some of the secondary wire from the ends cause what your doing is tightening the screws down onto the wraps and separating the wraps in turn the screws really never tighten completely.

I tried that. I can't seem to hold the spool loose enough so it feeds properly and it kept binding up on me every 3 or 4 inches. I think I need a proper table dedicated to the work, not the extra space on my home office work desk.
Ya i had that same problem. The spool wouldnt spin smooth enough making the wire bounce. Might try again with a pencil or something to let it spin while putting pressure on the spool

For fused Claptons, I use the fishing swivel anchor technique just like Grimm. You will still get a bit of twist in the cores but that can be back out with 2 pairs of pliers. I just use some basic needle nose and clamp the wire in the toothless section of the jaws. Doesn't need to be perfect as it will flatten out a bit as you wrap. Just keep at it and try different setups to see what works for you.

I am warming up to claptons. I had to find a build that worked for me on my mechs. I found it at 4 wraps and 2.5mm diam (26/30) wire. Perfect. And the taste is more complex I think. it seems to be smoother too. And the cloud is bigger, even with PG, so I`m used to sucky clouds, but the clapton does make a denser thicker vapor. And for me, that`s what Im chasing.

Besides just being bored or wanting to make something. Why in God's name would anyone make captions instead of buying them? You can get a lifetime supply for about a week's worth of cigarettes.

Because im bored. And i can use it to make other types of coils when i get it down. And also, i know exactly who made the wire.[emoji12]

While I wanted to leave it alone.... I just can't. You twist 2 wires together. Your not "making wire" so you don't know where the wire came from anyway. Either way like I said it's all good and fun but if op is getting super overly frustrated...just buy it, who cares.

I was just looking for suggestions. Thanks. I may not know "exactly" where it came from. But i know what company made it and that it didnt come from some cheap Chinese factory.
