Good to hear that the ShenRay Fev4 is working well for you. I have one en route from Focal, which seems to have some software problems. The site is not usable for me. Can't use Paypal or credit cards and won't accept coupons.I can't even add items to my shopping cart at the moment.

The site is difficult and confusing... Ive ordered from them once for a fev v3 little over a year ago.. Needless to say i was surprised when i got two packages.thought i got a freebie, but no somehow I ordered twice. I think it was if you dont set up account you have no way to know that you ordered with a confirmation. (At the time)

I received my "HotCig" Fev3 from FT today, and went downstairs and opened my package, a very nice looking RTA. I I detected just a trace of liquid film inside, but no smell, so I washed it just to be safe. The way that the glass tank is connected is a bit different than on the "ShenRay", but seems quite secure none the less. I put a build in it, 30g twisted/3mm/Rayon with SS Mesh #400 feeder tubes and off I went. I filled it up, it will take 4.8/4.9ml, and started vaping.

Everything was looking pretty good, till I noticed that the little "Location Pin" on the 510 base to locate the air housing/coil chamber that holds the feeder tubes and screws into the tank section was missing. No Location Pin, just a tiny hole where it used to be. I say "used to be" because I swear that it was on there when I washed and assembled it initially. I didn't know that it could detach, else I would have been looking for the blasted thing right away, and been more careful to begin with. I went back to the sink where I washed it and looked all around, then went back to my build desk where I do all my builds and checked everywhere, I even checked in my favorite chair where I sit and vape while watching collage football, No Luck, it's GONE. Well, Crap-ola.

After sitting and stewing for a while, I had an epiphany. I went back down stairs and tried the 510 base off of my "ShenRay" Fev4 and slid the top section of my "HotCig" Fev3 onto that, and it fit Perfectly. At least I can still use the "HotCig" Fev3 minus it's 510 base. If I am Real careful, I can still use the Fev3 complete, even though that location pin is missing. It's nice to know that the "HotCig" and "ShenRay" 510 bases are dimensionaly close enough to work good together in a pinch.

dw, have you had any problems with that location pin falling out, or missing on any of your Fev's ??

I only have the one, it hasn't fallen out as yet. It shouldn't be too hard to fashion one from something (?)

I was looking at trying to do just that, but, that little pin is tiny, and I have no machinery here at all, just basic hand tools. I'm not sure how I would accomplish the task. I was thinking of Super Gluing something small into the hole, but don't know how Super Glue would hold up in this type of application. Do you think that SuperGlue would hold up to the temps and juice dripping down on it ?? My wife has a lot of different sized pins in her sewing case, I might be able to file down the head to fit ??

what part are you missing? can you show us a pict?
Have you contacted where you got it? Maybe they can send you a replacement?

What are the size pic's I need to post on these forums ? I have a Pentax K5, 16MP camera and a Macro lens.

Is it the little sort of peg that is on the base that the chamber part sort of snaps on? Ive seen some posts regarding it coming off, but most people run it without problems.

I have a spare chamber if you need that.

This is what I am talking about. That hole just above the knurling is where the location pin "Should" be.

Of all the vape gear I have bought since Aug. of 2014, this is the First item that was flawed in any way, so I guess I can't complain too much.

Wow !! My first pic's on this forum.

I used my Wife's Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS15 in Macro mode, no flash. It was easier than getting out my Pentax K-5 and Macro lens.

I might upload more pic's in the future, now that I know how to do it.

No thanks anavidfan, I have a complete Fev3, just that pin is gone. I was worried about it spinning and messing up those feeder tubes or my wicking, and then leaking is all, but you said that folks run theirs without that pin and don't have any problems. Guess I'll do the same, very carefully. Thanks for the offer anyways though.

@52anddone Did you get the FeV 3 from Fasttech?
If so open a support ticket and tell them the package came missing the pin. Attach a photo of the base (clean/not with build) showing the pin missing and they should ship you a replacement base.

Go to your Order History, click the Support button on that order and then Items defective or damaged (DOA) and request a replacement base. Attach a photo and you should be good to go.

My pin came out quite a while back. I put a little bit of JB Weld in the hole and pressed it back in.

Hey 52, bummer the pin is pressed in and all mine are really hard to take out. Tye hole must have been drilled a little big. Anything you can find to fit the hole would work just to keep it from spinning. A big needle or mabye a small syringe needle can be driven in. A tooth pick would probably work! Its soft so Drive it in then if its a little wide on the tank slit you can gently push it in and it will cut into it for a tight fit.

The fev v4 is a much better design with the glass tank for sure. The v3 glass is a bit fiddly compared to v4.

I get annoyed by how the tank wants to raise off the base a tad on all versions.. It's becuse the oring retaining cuts are slightly wide. If you fill the gap it keeps the orings from being able to slide up a bit and keeps the tank down tight.

Sitting down, facing forward.
52, the pin fell out of the FEV V3 I use all the time about three months ago. I thought about replacing it, but it hasn't really been much of a problem. The tank location in relation to the wicks is the key and the hole for the pin makes it easy to line up. It doesn't reall rotate during use, and I use mine out on the tractor and while working in the yard so it gets some abuse.

As far as tools to make one, all you need is a piece of round stock, a finishing nail would do, a hand drill and a file. Chuck the nail in the file, cut it down to about 3/4", spin it with the drill and file it down, gently, checking the fit into the hole as you go.

For an adhesive, I'd suggest JB Weld rather than super glue. It is made for metal and seems to have some decent hold and heat tolerance. I used it to build a side by side DNA40 and it has held up, holding multiple parts that get warm/hot, for over a year now.
