I received my "HotCig" Fev3 from FT today, and went downstairs and opened my package, a very nice looking RTA. I I detected just a trace of liquid film inside, but no smell, so I washed it just to be safe. The way that the glass
tank is connected is a bit different than on the "ShenRay", but seems quite secure none the less. I put a build in it, 30g twisted/3mm/Rayon with SS Mesh #400 feeder tubes and off I went. I filled it up, it will take 4.8/4.9ml, and started
vaping.
Everything was looking pretty good, till I noticed that the little "Location Pin" on the 510 base to locate the air housing/coil chamber that holds the feeder tubes and screws into the
tank section was missing. No Location Pin, just a tiny hole where it used to be. I say "used to be" because I swear that it was on there when I washed and assembled it initially. I didn't know that it could detach, else I would have been looking for the blasted thing right away, and been more careful to begin with. I went back to the sink where I washed it and looked all around, then went back to my build desk where I do all my builds and checked everywhere, I even checked in my favorite chair where I sit and vape while watching collage football, No Luck, it's GONE. Well, Crap-ola.
After sitting and stewing for a while, I had an epiphany. I went back down stairs and tried the 510 base off of my "ShenRay" Fev4 and slid the top section of my "HotCig" Fev3 onto that, and it fit Perfectly. At least I can still use the "HotCig" Fev3 minus it's 510 base. If I am Real careful, I can still use the Fev3 complete, even though that location pin is missing. It's nice to know that the "HotCig" and "ShenRay" 510 bases are dimensionaly close enough to work good together in a pinch.
dw, have you had any problems with that location pin falling out, or missing on any of your Fev's ??
