Pete at what percent would you recommend starting that Black Fire with? What are your favorite tobaccos by them in order and why?

I am going to say right upfront I did not like the Perique Black or Virginia at all (maybe I used them improperly or didn't steep long enough) The Dark Vapure is good with other flavors and Mellow is easy to work with. I kept Cowboy not sure what I think of that one yet.

Has anyone had there RY4? Not the Oryental but the regular Ry4 by flavour art? (Can you all tell I am gearing up for a flavor purchase? hahha

Some of my FA favorites are Cowboy, Black Fire, Shade, Dark Vapure, Cuban Supreme and Burley. I actually have 12 FA tobacco flavors in my arsenal. Most of my mixes contain a small amount of tobacco flavor in them. I think it gives any flavor more complexity if it is mixed with a little tobacco. I like to use Cowboy as the complimentary tobacco flavor in these mixes, it doesn't seem to overpower other flavors and kind of lingers in the background.

My description of Black Fire:

Rather dry and smokey. It seems to have a burnt wood undertone. Kind of reminds me of a campfire. The smell of hot coals in a campfire perhaps. It definitely doesn't taste too much like tobacco. Kind of how an analog doesn't have an overpowering tobacco taste like a cigar would.

My recipe for a straight up Black Fire mix: (The same recipe for Cowboy, just use Cowboy in place of Black Fire.)

5ml base @ 18mg NIC, 70%PG/30%VG

FA Black Fire 3 drops
Ethyl Maltol 3 drops
Apple cider Vinegar 2 drops

Don't forget the vinegar! It makes a huge difference.

Here's a really good recipe for Shade and/or Dark Vapure:

5ml base @ 18mg NIC, 70%PG/30%VG

FA Shade or Dark Vapure (Interchangeable) 2 drops
TPA Orange (Sweet) 1 drop
Ethyl Maltol 3 drops
Apple Cider Vinegar 2 drops

Don't forget the vinegar! It makes a huge difference.

Good luck!

Pete

This was my introduction to, and reason for buying the Black Fire...thanks again for sharing it. IMO very tasty, but a bit heavy on the EM...a tad too sweet for me. Again...just my opinion...otherwise great mix though! :)

I wasn't aware that FA made a double choc or toasted marshmallow...where do you get them? :)

Camtel is real floral and I usually use it as back note but can vape it straight on occasion. I find the 10% EM solution (not 10% of a 10% solution) really knocks down the harsh top notes in a FA tobacco and allows the true notes through. Start with 4 to 6 drops of Camtel in 10ml and wait a week.

Sorry I read the label wrong,it's Pa.Are they the same company?

FA - is typically FlavourArt
PA - is typically The Perfumers Apprentice but the flavor section is called The Flavor Apprentice

eta: refer to next post if this confuses you further. thx BnB

Sorry, no.
Tpa/Tfa is perfumers apprentice/flavor apprentice (same company, different divisions - a USA company
FA is flavourart an Italian company

It's confusing, I know :(

Sorry AZ...we must've been typing at the same time...
What AZ said ;)

Then yes, that would be FlavourArt and have to assume it is an abbrev. for Camtel. Does it have a sharp floral taste to it?

I haven't taken any time to individually test my flavors...I should probably do that some day. I've made quite a few successful mixes though, so I guess I got the knack for it. ;) I tried it in a Lemonade mix and 1% didn't do anything...so I'll probably try it at like 3-5% and see what happens.

Thats what I do with a mix of fruits I break up the flavors with one being more prominent like the pineapple at 4-6% and then the secondary fruits at slightly lower and then a couple drops of the tart and sour by Loranns and some sweetener after that steeps a little bit.

You are not hijacking anything :D thats what the thread is for-- talk away--this is how we can learn from each other about what might work or not work with this brand. The only reason I started a new thread is I wanted as up to date experiences as possible and with some of the new flavors and some of the flavour art threads are two years old.

How much T&S should be used? Like 1-2%? I tried some in another mix at about 2% and it ended up clogging my atomizer really fast so I haven't used the T&S again yet.

I have used 1 drop for every 5 ml's of liquid and so far I don't notice any clogging. I don't know what rate other people use but my rate is only approximately six drops sometimes up to ten drops for a 30 ml bottle which is still way under one percent. i am sure others use there own ratio but I hope its not clogging.
