Okay, so I'm vaping on a Halo Reactor (basically a eleaf istick 50W). Now for the last well about 8hrs it read at a constant .5ohm (as the coil is). In the last half hour it started reading at .7, then back down to .6. The last few minutes it been bouncing from .7 to 2.1. Now finally it seems to have settled back on .6

I checked the connections when I first noticed (didn't fix the issue), was wondering what could have caused this?

Umm 8hrs maybe? Just got it today

Is it a prefab coil or is it a coil you wrapped?
What kind of topper are you using? a tank or an rda?
I don't think that's a temperature controlled mod.

If its an rda, tighten the screws when you are dryburning because the screws will be hot, and they tend to come loose when hot.

pre-fab .5ohm dual vertical coil, basically a Freemax Starre sub-ohm tank

well it could just be to do with the coil.
with a proper rebuildable type setup you literally screw the coil legs down to make a proper connection, but with prefab coils, the coil legs are just pressed against metal between silicone/rubber/plastic insulator.
On the other hand it could also be 510 centerpin connection issues.

Only way to isolate whether it's a problem at the top or bottom is if you had another mod to compare.

High readings = loose connection

Coil not tight or legs making poor contact at the center pin of coil head.

:)

Yeah may have had slightly too much bourbon before I tried fixing it the first time :) its working all good now. Still reading slightly high (between .6-.8) but working fine. I'll get it one more go when I sober up a bit.

If that doesn't fix it completely, tomorrow I"ll throw in my extra coil and see.

An update in case anyone cares. Looks like 3rd time the charm. It was connection related, been constant at .5 for over hours now.

I'm not sure how but it seems like when I was refilling the tank previously I somehow got a stray drop just right onto the coil/base and I basically missed a spot.

Future advice.... fix things sober. Or try try try again.

I've seen this and had it fixed by simply removing the attie and screwing it back on, sometimes a loose connection can be as simple as the attie backed out a little, or the coil isn't screwed tight enough into the base. Finding the culprit can be difficult if alcohol is involved

I did that twice and it didn't fix it. I guess I just missed a spot with the q-tip and paper towel that I got the 3rd time.

The amazing thing about this though... The damn thing still functioned great in the midst of all that.
