I agree with everything you have said, and tell Doris this same EXACT thing quite frequently in fact .. the bottom line is that none of them are vapers, and this "brand name/manufacturer" name thing is actually foreign to them, but I am trying to help them get it.

As far as specs, FC, just like FT are at the mercy of the supplier with regards to product specifications, and both companies list specs exactly as they are given to them by the supplier, who way more often than not, is not the manufacturer. Which brings me to my other point, the manufacturer specs actually suck just as bad. Go take a stroll on Alibaba for any product that you know well, and you will quickly see what I mean.

The most infuriating practice of clone manufacturers is that 99.9% of the time they simply copy and paste the specs of the original that they are cloning, from a vendors website. Accurate and detailed information is not really their strong suit, and I agree that they need to step up their game. But its hard to convince them of this when so many will still buy the product regardless .. I am a person who needs to know everything, so I feel ya.

Like I said, I Can't Expect Everyone at a Company like FC to be Experts on All things e-Cigarettes. But Accurately Describing a Product Doesn't seem all that hard.

Because somewhere is a Purchase Order that FC gave to their Supplier of those ZNA Clones. And on that PO there would be all of the Spec Items (as well as more) that I mentioned.

Getting a bad item once in a while is the price we pay for saving so much money on closes. Stop and think about how seldom we get something we are unhappy with and how much you have saved buying clones. The products from China are getting better and better, they have gained in technology & the machinery they use and they know if they try to pass off junk people will stop buying from them.

That is Also a Bad Business Model to Operate Under for a Retailer.

Especially in a Highly Competitive Market where you are Trying to Capture Market Share from someone like fasttech.

You get that level of detail here. Not necessarily over there. Which sucks. Different cultures, different business practices. So yes, sometimes it is that hard.

China supplier/manufacturer order PI's actually do not contain any info other than color, model, price per pc, paypal fee's and shipping cost ..

Its not hard to you because you are an experienced vaper, its difficult to understand for them because they are not consumers of their own products. item specs are copy and pasted from Alibaba pages.

If FC does Not Include any Specifications when they issue a Purchase Order to one of their Suppliers, how does FC ensure that what the Supplier sends them is what they Want?

I have done Business with Chinese Suppliers before.

They didn't seem to have a Problem with Signing a Highly Detailed Purchase Order that had No Substitution Clauses.

I don't think Most of the Suppliers I worked with Liked it. But they All Signed the PO.

BTW - Did you feel that Earthquake a couple of Days Ago that hit Napa?

I've never seen how things work in China, but I've been around a lot of businesses in Chinatown SF. Sometimes it's trusted sales reps that present the product, sometimes it's by customer request - if the customer was brand-specific, then they try to pursue that. If not, then they shop around for the product. I think they go more by the name of the product (e.g. Plume Veil) rather than specific specs - then it's a matter of finding the best deal. And if we just ask for "Plume Veil" and don't give them specific details, they won't know to look for them. Doris lucked out with Nikki, who's well versed and well connected, and does all the research necessary to sway them in the right direction. FC just has to use that to their advantage.

Huh, makes me think of a story about a fellow who moved to a new town. The town's minister stopped to welcome the new neighbor, he asked the minster what the town was like, the minster asked him how he found the town he moved from and was told "that place was awful, the people were unfriendly and hard to get along with. The minster said, "Well then I'm afraid you'll find it the same here."

I've Never been to China. But I Know and have Worked with many how have. And they have All said that things are Very Different there then Here in the USA. Not so much Better or Worse. But Different.

To me, if I was Targeting a US Market, I would be Highly Descriptive when listing a Product. APV buyers can be Very Savvy. And Hip to OEM's, Model Numbers, and things like Specs and Revision Levels.

Yes... Price Point is a Defining Factor on a Line Item for either someone like TF or FC. But when the Price/Shipping Time of an Item is the Same, who do you go with?

I Always would go with the One with better Specs. People are saying that the ZNA Clones that are coming from Wotofo are supposed to be Good Quality. So I went with FC instead of FT because TF's ZNA Clones are supposed to come from Hotecig. And the Yihi SXA300 is supposed to be Better than the Chip-Set that is Used by Hotecig.

I Really don't know if All this is True? Or if the ZNA Clone I get from FC is going to be what other say it will be.

But if it is, and It works good I'll be Happy. And Isn't and it Works Good, I'll be Happy Also. But if it Isn't a Wotofo and it Doesn't Work well, then I kinda feel like I got Taken. Even though FC has Never said it was a Wotofo in the First Place.

Wish I was. I did my Lower Units in Santa Rosa way, way, way back when. Always liked that area.

I'm down in So-Cal.

If FC does Not Include any Specifications when they issue a Purchase Order to one of their Suppliers, how does FC ensure that what the Supplier sends them is what they Want?

Because the majority of their inventory is not supplied in the manner that you think .. There are some things that they request specifically, which is usually driven by a direct consumer request. However, usually it is the supplier who informs them of what the latest products are, and offers them .. no different than you checking new arrivals on FT or FC to see what they are offering, and you buy from what has been made available to you. Its the same exact thing.

Their inventory comes from what a) has been offered in the suppliers "new arrival"s and b) what consumers have actually directly requested. Even then they don't go by specs, they go by product name and style. If they actually purchased by specs then we wouldn't see half of the janky clones that often mar the pages of the new arrivals pages.

FT is no different, which is evidenced by the 10 clone variants for a single Mod style, and usually there is only one that anyone with any modicum of ecig product knowledge is interested in ... and that is on a good new arrivals week. They just keep going until they land on one that people like, which is sometimes guided by helpful feedback and harsh criticism alike. In most cases they have never seen or heard of the original device, because again, they are not vapers or consumers of the products that they sell. Vaping is not a lifestyle in China, its just a job.

You are trying to apply logic from a consumer, and vapers perspective, to a non consumer, non vapers perspective, and approach to doing business when that is not the reality of China's way of doing business. The vast majority of US ecig vendors are in fact vapers themselves, and so it makes sense that their approach, and general business philosophies make sense to you, and me because in most cases we come from the same place of knowledge and understanding. But the United States is not China, and we shouldn't really expect them to do anything that we do, most especially since we have very different motives for doing anything.

I apologize if this has been addressed in of any the previous eleventybillion posts...

I just placed my first FC order and noticed this language with regards to product warranty:

Please read the following after-sales terms first so as to better under Focalecig warranty:
1. Non-human causes of product problems, we will be committed to one year warranty, you need to pay the freight.

And for defective products:

Within 90 days (from the date of shipment)
Policy: Upon being returned, the defective item will be refunded or replaced for free. Return shipping fee reimbursement is 35% of the item's price up to a maximum of $40.

So, has anyone had to return anything to FC? If so, how much would I typically expect to pay for return shipping? I suspect return shipping costs would exceed the cost of the unit in many cases. Perhaps I'm wrong. I like the fact FC will stand behind their products for a year but if shipping costs are prohibitively high, I may as well toss the unit in the trash in the event of a failure.
