Are these real joyetech devices? I went on to Joyetech website, I found a list of vendors that sell supposed Joyetech devices, and they are actually copycats! I bought one before I knew this, and it sucks! I had to go to a website that is authorized to sell them, and bought a wonderful device that is a real Joyetech, and I love it!

They set a limit on how low you can sell a product.

Having worked in retail, a lot of stuff we sold was priced at "cost + 10%", which usually worked out to roughly what the MSRP price was. "Cost" being what we paid for the item from the manufacturer/distributor, as opposed to the cost of manufacturing.

They may not be real Joyetech - there are a lot of clones on the market too.

That applies when it is the original product. Its not news to me - I've known for a long time that there is a MRP on many products. Vapor Joe's post is referring to original brand name products - Innokin in this case - being sold at different prices. However, there are also clones and knock offs in the pv world - some of which work and some don't. These are not the genuine products. A good example is the Vision vivi nova. There are a lot of cheap vivi novas, but they are knock offs of the Vision ones. This isn't price fixing, as Vapor Joe was referring to, but copycat products.

So yes, Joyetech does get copied - there are plenty of no name Egos that show that. Some of the Egos work just fine. But if people want original Joyetech - and they do have a good reputation - then usually a site will have the brand name showing, e.g. Joyetech Ego, Vision vivi nova, Innokin SVD.

Um. Yeah, no kidding!

My point was simply that just because a vendor is NOT listed on the Joyetech website doesn't mean a product is necessarily a knockoff.

You know... seeing these prices really makes me cop a bit of an attitude towards B&M stores.

They serve a purpose.. if it weren't for a local B&M.. i would never have known vaping could be as good as it is.. the try before you buy is great and that you can see and feel devices is a huge plus..

They have to pay overhead so i get the markup.. now, if it's a ludricrous markup such as with mall kiosks that's different.

It is worth it to many to see an actual person and talk to them about their products... what bothers me is when they don't know about, what i believe to be, a simple explanation of what juice steeping is.

Ah - well you didn't say anything about that, and neither does the blog post you linked to, which is about price fixing on original products: http://.........blogspot.co.nz/2013/06/the-dirty-little-not-so-secret.html
Which is why I explained the difference. So yeah, no kidding.
