Hey guys, I'm thinking of ordering a Nemesis, specifically it's between the two cheaper ones: Nemesis Silver SKU: 13124and Nemesis silver gold SKU: 18302. Do you guys know if they are the same (threading, manufacturer, quality)? If they are, I will probably choose the solid colored one, just because I don't like mega shiny gold.

I'm wanting to have the option of upgrading to a magnetic switch, so if that isn't possible, I will look for other similarly priced options.

I currently have a 4nine, which I like due to it's insanely low voltage drop and magnetic switch (although the switch can be finicky at times), and because it's so damn compact. If someone could recommend a competitor of the nemmy with those features while still being $20 or below, I'd be all ears for that as well.

Interesting, I purchased the golden one and like shiny. Gave it a 5 star review but its not there now. I didn't know they removed them. Its 1:1 as far as all threads. I've been using it for a few months and the golden hasn't worn off yet, still very shiny.

13124 (as of July 1) is pretty decent quality, it's threads are not to nemesis spec though, they are somewhat larger in diameter and it will not, for example, take a hybrid adapter. The switch is fine (for a nemesis), and I had no problem installing magnets.

If you can possibly swing it I would recommend a Stingray.

I have 3 perfect 1:1 clones from FC and 2 expensive clones from FT. All of them have the same threading as my Kayfun 3.1 ( original and clone ) and my 5 hybrid connectors. These threadings are not compatible to the King mod. But I have also 2 Npmpses and 2 mixed golden/ss Nemeses from FC and their threading fits perfect with the King Mod and is not compatible to the adaptors.

I will keep the King, because the switch is very good and the narrow threading has less play - less voltage drop. But I think it is important to post these infos for potential customers. The FC pictures show a 21x1 threading.

I`m still looking for nice 20x1mm mods for my Herons and so I have to check the threading by looking at the pics. I don`t like the polished GP brass versions ( with or without logo ). I want a SS mod.
I did more playing around and you're right. The Nemesis from FC isn't 20.5 that's why everything fits the King so well. Here's the strange part, my King isn't fully 21mm, probably the thread cutting was a little off in that run. In some combinations it will fit my 1:1 Nemesis, but the same parts on the FC Nemesis won't fit the 1:1. I'm so confused right now, but I like strange stuff. I think I like the King more now :)

The SS Tree of Life mods at FC are 20x1, but some (or maybe all) of the Fire of Life mods are 21x1. Don't buy the SS Paps from FT, it's total crap. Made that mistake and wound up giving it away after a month of frustration.

i have both nems 13124 and 18302.
like many have said, 13124 has not nemesis standard tubes and cap threading, so you won't be able to exchange tubes or caps with other nemesis. its switch is pretty good.
18302 has standard measures. the switch is slightly worse than 13124 though. the golden plating of lock ring and cap gets off relatively fast, but the color of the underneath brass is nice.
threads of both are very good. the joins of tubes are not invisible.
both switches are easily upgradable with magnets (but get good magnets, inner diameter should be equal or greater than 10mm, 17x10x1mm for example, N42 grade or greater is desired).
upgrading the rice pins of the switches is also possible and desired (replace it with a wider pin, 1.98 x 6.00 is a right measure, for example, instead of the one stocked, which can be 1.78 x 6.25 or 1.88 x 6.00; make it yourself, you can use any material, like copper or brass). this helps to reduce wobbliness.
lubing the switch will help to reduce crunchiness. you have to lube the exterior side of the central post, and the interior side of the ring. if you don't have a good grease (like no-ox-id, for example), you can use the graphite of a pencil: just "paint" the sides with it.

about the stingrays, i also have the two models. sxk and the cheaper one.
sxk one is clearly better in every sense (joints, engravings, switch, etc.), although the cheap one is very good. both have less voltage drop than nemesis (which are quite good in this aspect, too). the only advantage of the cheaper one (not 1:1), is that you can use it in 18650+kick mode by using the stock tubes. you can do it in the sxk one as well, by purchasing an extra tube extension (22mm desirable).

edit: "normal" stingrays (not x) are also a good option. voltage drop similar to nemesis. quality of switch, and joins invisibility depends a lot of the price of the stingray. you can replace the rice pin with a wider one, if it is too thin. lubing is very advisable, like in stingray x and nemesis. if you plan to use kick, you should purchase the extra tube extension (22mm) though.

I went ahead with the SXK SR X. Can't wait :D
That's a nice choice for a first mod. The older design Stingray mods are nice also although the switch can be crunchy. There are plenty of threads here about how to take apart the switch and improve its action. Doesn't take more than a few minutes and helps much. And the Nemesis is a good solid design. So either will be good choices when you decide you want more. Which its rather likely you will. Welcome to the club. Soon you'll have more than you can use but don't worry, you'll still get more ;)

Oh yeah, I forgot about that damn rice pin, I think I used a wire hangar for that. Real project mod that one.

Next time someone asks, the definitive FC Nemeses review is post #10675.
