Just a little thought experiment here...

Can any of you fine folks sell me on a regulated box mod readily available at FC? About time I got some hands-on with one. What I want is

- Single 18650 battery
- 10-50 watts. Can be more, but that's no requirement
- Small as possible
- Adjustable/floating 510 center pin
- No 33.33hz chips please
- Price max $100 but hopefully as low as possible. Not looking to save $10 for lower quality.
- Runs down to 0.6 ohms. Just for easy swapping of atties from my mechs.
- Comfy
- Sexy

I don't plan on nitpicking this a lot. Just want to make sort of an semi-informed impulse purchase of something regarded as a good representative for box mods.

That's a tough list to fill. I had similar features on my 'want list' and ended up with a rDNA 40 but it's almost double your budget. They're having a cyber monday deal for 20% off so it brings it down to $160 with a sharkskin.

On my FC dna 30 clone I got used to the delay from sleep mode to firing fairly quickly. However I have a 'lazy' button (bottommost "down" button); its click is muted compared to the other buttons, it was fine when I first got it. It's not loose or anything, just not nice and snappy anymore, although it still works as it's supposed to. The biggest problem I have w/mine is it adds 0.3 to 0.4 ohms to the resistance of attys that are around 2.4 ohms (I haven't taken the time to pin down exactly where the error starts and stops as I don't usually use builds having resistance high enough to cause the error). Changing to a build having, say, 1.5 ohms and it reads correctly. Just something you might keep an eye out for...

ETA I may have made a similar reply to an earlier post w/much the same info, if so pls. disregard.

The fire delay is getting old already. Hotcig fixed theirs but KSD didn't. All my buttons are crooked but they work fine. The ground is soldered directly to the 510 so it's very accurate on mine. I have a Kanger with a 2.1Ω coil and it reads spot on when tested against an ohm meter. Same with my KF's at 1.4-1.8Ω. The 510 is much nicer than I expected with smooth threads and not sloppy at all.

I didn't have very high expectations though since I bought it mainly to mod and upgrade to a DNA 40 box.

Thanks for the tip. It doesn't strictly have to be a 'box' box mod, just not half a mile worth of tube mod :)

I did notice they got a ZNA 50 mod just the other day also.
$99.75 1:1 ZNA 50 by Robbot Tech (18650+18490/18500) - Silver
Would that be of comparable quality?

My guess so far is I'll end up with either a Hana or a ZNA. If no other candidates show up, I'll figure which is considered the highest quality and push the order button.

If you get a Hana clone, I would recommend the ones on FT shipped w/o a battery for faster delivery and not the value versions which are the KSD's that FC sells. I ordered a Hana mini clone from FT, also to mod.

right now you can get a rDNA 30 for a 100.00 USD at vapor shark! (black Friday sale) that is a smokin' deal!!! I just bought a VS rDNA 40 but, for that price i'm very tempted! my VS 40 is a beast :)

Actually, it's the DNA 30 which has the 1300mah lipo for $96 on Monday (code: cybermonday). The rDNA 30 will be $136. The rDNA 40 will be $152.

I think I would buy that instead of the Robbot myself.

I got the Wotofo for $40 and it was only 2 weeks old.

But, if we are talking $100, I would get the VS.

As for the ZNA50, does it have an adjustable pin? The ZNA30 didn't, which is why I wanted the Wotofo.

Thanks a lot for all the tips folks! The Vaporshark may be a bit cost prohibitive due shipping and such. It is tempting tho...

The list of features is not set in stone. Except for adjustable center pin, comfy and sexy. I'm in unknown territory here anyway. I'm willing to take what I can get as long as it's considered decent.

Just got an e-mail from eleven telling me they only got half their order of the Zero's so it will be another 2 weeks. I ordered within hours of it being up so I asked her where I was on the list, the reply I got was "thank you for supporting focal". What? Really?

The "Thank you for supporting Focal" is an automated response. I get one every time i send an email to Eleven. She will respond separately from that automated message.

that's my list, too (plus voltage step down (bucking) capability).
i'm still waiting, because every mod fail in some items of the list, and new ones are showing up everyday. would say patience, wait a bit more..

hi everybody, sorry for lurking again, but i'm fully concentrated in our mobile/tablet game (it goes very well, in the path of becoming a big success, so we have to add new features quicky). will trip for 10 days on friday to meet the boyz and work together.

got the spares for the fc squape-r. i'm lucky, loving it (and its 3mm air hole) a lot: no shorts nor similar (at least, w deck and 510 pin are ok), great air draw while keeping far better flavor than squape 1.
waiting for the orchid v4, and the erl from fc (amods one, sorry, instant killed it), and enjoying another erl from ft (plus glass tank): comfy one, good vapor and flavor (maybe a little lower than kf flavor tho).
can't add porn now, sorry.
my best wishes for you all.

ah, plz count with me for a sx mini preorder, if any.. ;)

As haku mentioned, it might be worth it to wait as there's a bunch coming out in the next few weeks. The IPV Mini (not to be confused with the SX Mini) might work for you. $50-$60 on pre-order.

The IPV Mini looks interesting. "Only" 30 watts, but that should be no big deal.

Are there any specific features I'm missing out on by not waiting, or just a better selection of mods in general? One "feature" I'd be willing to wait for is a sunken atty mount. As in, it doesn't sit on top of the mod.

I usually vape way under 30w so it's not really an issue for me.

Just a better selection that will check off more of your "want" list. The sunken atty mount mods are way over your budget unless you go with an Innokin VTR. I've been keeping an eye out for one too and I found one guy that makes one that's really nice but it's about $350 (ouch!). I didn't save the link because, well... it's frikkin $350!

Mine started out accurate, then one time when I used an atty having 2.4 ohm resistance, the display showed 2.8- 2.9, and was firing w/the voltage to match the erroneous resistance, i.e. too hot. I've read of others who've had this same problem too, hopefully yours won't go bad over time. At least it's still accurate around 1.5-ish ohms where I use.it. I checked the soldering/wiring, and from what can be seen (510, switches, battery tray, etc.) it all looks okay.

I thank you for not saving the link :D

I would certainly increase the budget for something in that form factor tho. But not to $350. I could get a DNA board and take a woodworking class for that amount. Initially I'm just wanting to get some hands-on with a new kind of toy, i.e regulated mod in a non-tubular shape. I'm happy if I end up with something that works well even after the initial new-toy-joy wears off.

Is your ground wire soldered to the 510 or screwed to the case?

I had pretty much the same list as you including budget. I ended up with a rDNA 40 though because I thought it was worth it. I just got my rDNA 40 today and I'm really happy with it so far.
