I received my Squape from Focal last week and it's a dud unfortunately.
After a couple of emails from Doris on Saturday, the replacement base was sent on Monday - very pleased with the way they've handled the situation.

Despite the faulty item, I'll be dealing with them in the future - they run their business in a very professional manner.

Thanks for that feedback Dirk....o ... unfortunately the DOA Squapes are occurring with several vendors, it has been become quite bad. Thank goodness Doris was able to get replacement bases fairly quickly for the all the customers go received a Squape with an internal short.

I don't tilt mine, not sure if that makes any difference at all but I hold mine completely upside down, fill and leave a small space at the top (bottom when holding upside down) then put screw in and flip over. Also I am sure you know this but make sure your chimney and cap are tightened all the way.
As you know the air hole is under the chimney so unless it was flooded it would be hard to leak out the air hole located underneath the coil.
So seems liquid is feeding way too fast underneath the chimney. What are you using for wicking and can you post a pic? Nini posted some great pics on here a while back on the kayfun.

cotton wick, i posted some pictures, hopefully i can get this figured out, but the only juice i have is a small amount left of a limited run and i am scared to put it and have it run all over again and waste it

Well, i can see Doris just will send him money or replacement and she sounds a lot like really nice person and put all what she has for FC (not like someone like me - get what you wish for )

Aha, I have to go search for that thread, I am curious to read more about that ... I did see that Nibiru came back and posted a couple of comments, but I did not read them at all ... I saw the name and just scrolled to the next comment.

I am sure Doris will just replace it or refund without a problem because she is sweet, kind, and cooperative ... I am with you Laylel ....

I know, i should be adoring some pinky stuff with shinnies what make you blind, but i don't. And then more bitten and worn out origin looks like, then more i like it.
I have huge bag of leather pieces, waiting for free time so i can temp to make some sleeve for this mod.

I've been busy working for the last bit but my kayfun lite clone came in, and as soon as i set it up it just leaks all the juice right out the airhole.... Aaarrrggghhhhh!!!! I emailed Doris and she wants pictures of what happened so that's next on the list. But I'm super fed up with these dang kayfun clones :-(

Well really you should just seek assistance here on the forum for this issue, which sounds like user error, not a faulty device. Kayfun's will leak on you if you do not build, and fill them properly... there is some finesse required to get it right.

I can see that Crocky has already chimed in with some building advice, but I am sure the solution is in your build method. ... it will work out!

i removed the fill screw from the bottom, tilted it to 45, and filled it.... the way ive seen it always done. tightened the screw back up and flipped it over and put it on a mod and it leaked out as fast as it could...

It sounds like what I suspected, you filled it but somehow lost your "vacuum" inside the tank ... that is what causes a Kayfun to leak. All of your tank sections, including the top cap may not have been fully sealed prior to filling.

I was gonna say this ... to turn the device completely upside when filling it from the bottom, and keep it upside down until the fill port screw is replaced.

i filled it from the bottom, but i dont understand why it drained all out the airhole....

It drained from the air hole because that is the only way out of the device once its flooded ... You either lost the vacuum inside the tank, or you flooded the chamber while drawing on the device by bringing too much e liquid into the chamber. The entire wicking system of the Kayfun relies on a "vacuum" instead the tank.

Based on your pics there is nothing wrong with your Kayfun, you just need to master your wicking and filling technique on it ... pull your old cotton, rewick the coil, reattach all pieces making sure everything is properly threaded and sealed, and re fill from the bottom with the device turned COMPLETELY UP SIDE DOWN, and replace your fill port screw while the device is still completely up side down.

Or do like me & forget to put the chimney back on while putting everything back together.
I've somehow managed to do that 3x's.
In my case since I bottom fill all my juice runs out the top cap.

Pictures look good from what I can tell. It is leaking from the side airhole? I aunt tell from the first pic but does you cotton come down to just above the threads for the chimney?

What vg/PG blend are you using. Not that it would or should matter much.

I just did another full rebuild. and i think its the case of something never works till someone is looking over your shoulder watching.... i dont get it at all. i built it a bunch of times and this time it worked.... i dont get it. but whatever it works now. the blend is 65pg.35vg i think? its grape ape from nicoticket. but now it works so yeah.... engage foot in mouth...

I'm using the top fill method personally ... I can't be bothered with screws and screwdrivers every time I want to fill up. Just re wicked and refilled 5 minutes ago, changed my juice to blueberry

Go Vykos! ... its just like that sometimes. The Kayfun is one of those that you have to "do it" just right, and now you are back in business!

Because way before I started this thread, someone from Wallbuy's (staff) had broken forum rules by posting in the New Member's section, so Wallbuy's/Focalecig is IP banned ... so you will never be able to click links for Focal from ECF.
