Someone else posted pics of their switch not being flush either, which it should be. The switch on both of mine (ss/engraved and brass/laser etched) are recessed, and stand perfectly without issue, so I guess there are some qc issues. Sounds like you are capable of working these issues out though.
So I just received a brass 4nine from Focal's group buy:
$19.48 4Nine Style Mechanical Mod
The Good: It's amazingly tiny and minimalistic. All of the tubes and threading is well-machined although the seams between the tubes are apparent, there no hiding them. All of my atomizers fire with flat top batteries although I'd recommend button top batteries in order to shorten the throw of the switch. Hits noticably better than my brass stringray. Oh, and it was $14!!
The Bad: The switch/button provokes three complaints.
First, the delrin/magnet housing for the top part of the switch (attaching to the bottom of the battery/floating above the button) is too thick. This makes it difficult for the button to make contact with the copper housing and/or the copper housing to make contact with the battery so that sometimes the mod will not fire.In the short term this means that you have to spin the magnet lower in the housing. In the mid term this probably means that the delrin needs to be sanded down .5mm or so (tomorrow's project). In the long term, this might call for a new switch/button.
The second problem is that the button sits just a hair or so below the tube creating a dissapointing wobble when the mod is set on end--isn't that the point of having a recessed switch?Using a button top battery to shorten the throw and thus increase the static force of magnets should address this.
Lastly the button is not exactly flush with the tubing which creates a little crunchiness. I expect as the copper rounds this will disappear. Again a bit of sanding can address this.
Overall I'd give this a 3/5 stars. I would have paid more to have gotten the tolerances in the switch worked out but otherwise a fine value if you're willing to put some work into it.![]()

Kinda cute, kinda errrr... errr, I'm not sure
Did you get your Stingray X from FT yet? Curious to see pics of it.
Glad to see you now though
