I think some is holes and some is not, usually larger is hollow for sleeving cable, well that's scary they told me at a new shop, but they weren't props by any means.

Mine is only 1.5 mm, and it is hollow, but yea it very well may come in different varieties, but it seams to me the nature of the braid makes it hollow by default.
