What kind of wick material are you using?
I'm using rayon. Little over a week ago, I can proudly say I've mastered my rayon wick in these foggers (for me and my vaping habits anyways). I'm guessing you're pitching the idea that a channel may be exposed, which I've done in the past experimenting and in those cases it would just flood the chamber like no other. Shake out & blow out excess, get like 2 normal hits at best before it floods.
On my 6th tank now with this 4.1 guy and aside from the mystery gurgle, it really is performing flawlessly. I'm just not understanding how the heck this is possible when close to nothing comes out trying to blow out excess as if it was flooded. Maybe the deck itself is flawed somehow and letting juice gurgle over the hole without actually going in via surface tension, long as a pool on the deck remains in contact with that rayon in the channel, it will get wicked without issue and maintain equilibrium through some kinda surface tension type effect. I'll take a closer look at them next time I rewick, I think the air holes in this guy might actually bevel in.
