I play eve online as well been off and on for little over 2 years now (currently noticing goonswarm getting a little to close to our neck of the woods lolz)

i am currently trying out fallen earth now its not bad but its hard to play another MMO after getting used to EVEs training books system its nice not having to grind for levels :p

Played WoW for a year, went to Vanguard (I miss that game to pieces but the pop is just too low) and now back on WoW.

I am Crushtan (alliance) on Gnomeregan. I am open to rolling a new toon for an ECF guild lol.

Also played:

Eve
Guild Wars
Too many F2Ps (Pretty much done there)
Perfect World (Ye, it's another F2P but in a class of it's own I think)
Battlefield 2

lol ya we are actually in an alliance with AAA but simply because we rent out 11 systems from them

AAA is in a bad spot come Dominion. The exponential cost of owning multiple regions is going to make it  to maintain the amount of space they hold. Especially with a good portion of it being relatively crappy (compared to Delve at least).

I figure they are going to go from 4 regions back down to 1 in no time flat.

A little late on this board but oh well!

Ultima Online, Dark Age Of Camelot, AC, EQ, EQOA, MATRIX,WOW( Original), EQ2, WAR, Darkfall, Now Mortal beta but ehhhhh.. I played alot with "Expletus" in wow if anyone is familiar.

I allways was into PVP and wanted to try EVE. However isnt there an open ended skill set? If you join now there is now way to catch up correct? Correct me if iam wrong but thats the idea i got from it. That is the same reason i did not play Anarchy Online.

You should check out Eve-Online. It is 100% PvP everywhere with no punches pulled.

couple good friends of mine have been trying to get me to play eve for years, but i always heard mixed stuff about it and managed to find something else to play.

nowadays i'm not playing any mmo's. i always end up playing too much and burning out. aion sure is tempting though.

and shaydin that was one of the things i remember hearing about eve lol

Ya we already have a contingency plan if they go knee deep in problems maintaining space but its not like goons wont a few problems either lol probably less but still have some troubles.

Hell yes except..I smoked inside and, being the tank, I couldn't always roll one fast enough before the DPS decided...I'M PULLINGGGGGGG!
Gdamnit! Drop my paper, filter and baccy on the desk and run in to save their ....! Bah....
Least now I don't have to worry :D
Oh and pushy RL's bug me to no end, stupid people, I AM the tank and I will decide when to pull..got it? Good..or you can go lay dead over there on the floor while I laugh.

Ahem, bad raid memories coming back..sorry :D

You need a good pally healer. Someone who will Divine Intervention you when the dps starts being stupid in a no stupid zone.

Correct, but incorrect as well.

In the strictest sense of pure skill points, you will never catch up to a player who has been playing for years (and consistently training their character).

The caveat is, there is a limit to how many skill points are useful at a given time. At some point you maximize your skills in a given area (or given race) and you have to start training something else (either other ships, races, industry, or mining).

For example:

Say you have a newer player (played for a year or so) that has decided he wants to fly interceptors (small and FAST frigates used to hold enemy ships in place so the bigger ships can kill them... i.e. VITAL in fleet/gang warfare). That person has maximized all the skills needed to fly that interceptor and the modules he fits to it.

Along comes a Veteran who has played for 4 years in an interceptor. He has also maximized all the skills needed to fly that interceptor. Guess what, you two are equal in terms of skill points (experience is a different matter). He could have 100x the skill points you do, but in that interceptor he is using a fraction of his total points because he also has maxed the skills for that ship fitting.

The true advantage of players who have played a while is in their wider selection of ships and equipment. In addition to an interceptor, they may be able to fly Recon ships, Covert Ops, Heavy Assault, Battleships, and Carriers as well. Instead of being good at flying 3 different types of ships, they may be skilled in 13.

When it comes to PvP, nothing is more dangerous to a Vet than a fleet of newbies coordinating their attacks. I have seen a 3 year vet lose to 5 newbies in frigates. He got overconfident and they punished him for it.

Thankfully we only have 2 regions to worry about.

I have to admit though, I think the sov changes are going to make 0.0 a hell of a lot more fun. I expect to see lots of little empires pop up in the cracks between the big established empires. It should make the sov map look like a disco as new empires rise and fall (while the established alliances get good pew-pew in the process).

ya its going to be a nice change it will allow smaller corps as well to stake claim in 0.0 easier instead of getting blobbed to death lolz.

Although my corp is going to have a hard time we own 11 systems so we will find out what troubles will be.

It will also be interesting what they do with dust 514. CCP said they are planning on releasing walking on station before dust514.
