I sat down and did a few calculations this weekend just so that I could get MY head wrapped around the whole 'cost of new carts' thing. Just thought that some of the new people might find this helpful when trying to decide if the VK really is the right one for them. Especially people who are not too interested in wanting to bother with refilling carts. To give some perspective, I smoked a carton a week.

Based on vaping 1 ½ carts per day:

365 days x 1.5 carts = 547.5 or 548 carts
548 / 5 carts per pack = 109.6 or 110 packages of carts
110 x $12.50 = $1375.00 less 10% = $1237.50

Cigarettes based on 1 carton per week (as I don't know what everyone pays for their cigs, I have supplied several costs)

$50/carton = $50 x 52 weeks = $2600
$60/carton = $60 x 52 = $3120
$70/carton = $70 x 52 = $3640
$80/carton = $80 x52 = $4160 (this is what I pay here in Canada)

So, as you can see, even at the cheapest end and if you never refilled a cart, you are still saving over 50% the cost of analogs over the course of a year even when you add in the cost of the initial kit and replacement of batteries a few times a year if necessary and the $20 shipping each order.

Add to this the fact that you are healthier, you and the people around you are happier, you, your house and your car all smell better, not having to run outside every time a nic fit happens, the EASE OF USE of the VaporKing and a myriad of other personal reasons and ... HOW does it get any BETTER?? Oh yeah, let's not forget all those special 'surprises' Steve always throws in with every order. Is it any wonder that we all love this guy the way we do? :hubba:

Hope this breakdown helps even one person make the switch as it is SO worth it!

Believe it or not, Cartons here on California go for about $50 so I guess I am at the low end - I was whining about $50 and had no idea other people were paying so much more lol!

Seriously though, I would gladly pay more then for cigs just for the taste and health benefits! VK rocks and V4L is awesome!

By the way, just got an order this morning at work - I ordered it Thursday morning and it was here in Saturdays mail! I was shocked. Steve, you are going to have to stop spoiling us all - we can't have you going out of business on us! I do love all my goodies though and can't thank you enough. ;)

Thanks for posting this. I actually paid less for a carton of Misty Lites here in Colorado (about $33), but I will still save over the long-term. Plus a carton never lasted me a full week, more like about 5 days.

But I think most of us would pay the same we were paying for analogs just to be able to finally quit smoking. I've spent over $400 in less than a month with my 901 stuff and juices. And as you can see from my signature, I've been smoke-free for just over 3 weeks now.

I made my first V4L order last night -- as I said in my other post here, I was convinced about the superior quality of Steve's products. There are nothing but happy customers here in this subforum. Can't wait to get my order. :D

My question kind of relates to Kristin's. I was about a pack-and-a-half-a-day smoker, but I'm going through like 3 or 4 cartomizers per day. Granted, I don't vape them dry (at the first hint of a change in taste, I switch). I've seen many posts that a carto lasts about a day, but not for me!! Maybe I'm vapeing too hard?

Anyway, using 3 carto's per day in the OP equation, and considering my cartons were about $45, I'm not saving any money.

But you know what? I'm totally fine with that!!

You know why? Because I'm not smoking!

THANK YOU, VAPOR4LIFE!!

I usually vape about 1.5 cartos per day, if I am home on the weekend, 2 cartos bite the dust! Cartos that I refill myself would probably be 2 cartos and maybe 3 on the weekends if I am home vaping a lot. I smoked a pack a day Marlboro lights.

But I'm with you Tom - I would probably do this if it cost MORE then cigarettes because I feel good about it! ;)

I've cut my analog use by 45 or so a day and it's a little difficult to calculate because I have so many carts in use in a day, (1 in pocket, 1 on computer, 1 in VAN) but with dripping carts I'm probably still only averaging 1.5-2 carts a day. (I feel I must be doing something wrong :D)

At any rate I thought the analysis by FisherPal was fantastic but even @ $56/carton w/tax I am saving a whole lot more money. Of course that analysis didn't count dripping which substantially reduces the cost.

I going by the number of cartons I'm NOT buying vs. what I spend on VK products after the starter kits.

Great analysis, Fisherpal!

I used to buy a pack at a time...first name basis with my pals at 7-11, drugstore, gas station...it was my way of denying my habit and justifying it...I don't smoke THAT much. I would get nervous when the pack was getting low...always made sure that my next analog was a flic of the bic away. Not the most cost effective way to be an analog smoker...but, it worked for me.

I'm totally free of all that now!!! How priceless is that???

I just thought I would post that because I know it is a question that people who are considering buying an ecig have on their mind and thought it was a quick and dirty way to put it into perspective. I remember when I first heard of ecigs, my thought was that even if it cost the SAME, it was way healthier and worth it. Also people who don't want to be bothered with the refill thing sometimes think that is the only cost savings.
The whole analysis was good for me as well and brought things back into perspective. I know that, especially in these economic times, lots of us are scrambling to find enough to make it through each month. Funny though ... even through hard times in the past, I always managed to scrounge enough to keep me smoking! Hated myself for doing it but ... that's the nic demon for you! Once I got onto ecigs, I thought I was set! Then I started getting hung up on the 'well, if it costs this much for new carts, I can save SO much more buy refilling' and along came mega tons of frustration until I was almost ready to quit (as my video attests). Fortunately I re-found this forum and decided to take one more kick at the can. Like everyone else, I was blown away by what the VK can do. Then ... got caught up in the 'maybe I can save a few more bucks' scenerio. I needed to run these numbers for myself as much as anyone else to clear my head again.

As we all know, there is NOTHING like a new, fresh cart on your battery or passthru. And that is what keeps me off analogs. I just needed to shake this 'I HAVE to be able to refill' mentality that I was swinging in to and this did it for me. Glad to hear that some of the rest of you also found some useful info here.

As far as 1.5 carts a day (for a slightly more than a pack a day smoker), this may not have been the case right at first. There were still some nic demons I had to get off my back and, as a result, vaped more than I am now. Unless I have a flavor that I am really fond of and then ... well ... away she goes. But I have found that, on the average, this is where I now am. Next goal is to work my down the nic level but will take that one slowly.

For now, I'm just enjoying my VK, the crew at V4L and all the wonderful people on this forum!!

You could probably lessen that by increasing your nicotine mg
I am not sure what your using now but if you went higher the throat hit and the nic are stronger and you may vape less and satisfy your craving faster. Just a hint :)

I was a pack and a half per day smoker. I am currently using 24mg but am cutting back a notch with my latest order. I do not vape like I used to smoke. I only hit it when I start to get the craving for nicotine. It takes longer for the nicotine to take effect than it did with an analog.

I do refill my cartomizers before they get a chance to get dry..lol. They last a long time and it is important not to vape hard on them. Long and slow will produce volumes of vapor. I know I will be saving at least half from vaping as opposed to what I was spending on analogs. Any they were about $33.00 per carton here when I quit...I am also taking into account the coupons I received from Marlboro.
