Okay - Is there anyway to get rid of that recently added "Profile Statistics Information" box that is now coming up on the right side of every page

If you are on an OS ( such as Windows ) which allows you to resize your browser windows... you can size the width down and those stats then go to the very bottom of the page. I've also done it by increasing the font size.

YES - "You're" Correct and I have done so before, however be it using MS IE or Google Chrome and/or "Resizing" the browser window or Text size - they No Longer Move to the bottom of the page as they did before . . . :( Unless I narrow the viewing window down to something I can no longer read text in without using the scrolling function . . . AND - Which is why I brought it up as a new issue . . .

BTW: The Profile Sat's Box is something very NEW, which also seems is something that only I can see . . . o_O

I use Chrome most of the time and just tested again on IE11 ... it is still able to size to a point that the box is moved below. Due to my eyesight... I've got mine zoomed into 125% on Chrome and 130% on IE along with a windowed sized browser. A suggestion to try... look at the right side of the posts themselves... you should be able to see the border line that divides the post from the area that contains those stat boxes... size down to that or a little more. Before you do... you may want to open another browser window so you can resize the test window back to the size you prefer using the second window as a size guide.

???? i see no such box, uncle!

and 'staff online' 'forum stats' are at the bottom of my page :?:

Depending on how wide your browser window is... the box will either be on the bottom like you are seeing... or on wider screen or window on the top/side as Uncle is talking about.

Well - I maybe crazy and all that, but it is there especially if the Viewing window is open to a reasonable size like a sheet of paper -of 8" x 11" on a 17" Monitor . . .

Now if I narrow it down to half that size and/or reduce the text size of the webpage to 100% or less then what I normally would view ECF with, then YES the Profile Sat box is gone and then other boxes' go to the bottom . . . But, just like "Me" not everyone views ECF the same way . . . Since the new interface has been introduced and with the text size being so small in the post, I had to not only had to increase/ZOOM in from 125 to 150 - I had to adjust the window to be larger to see that text . . . Matter of fact, the new reading glasses I have work just fine too . . . Just Sayin' . . . ;)

Thank "You" ! ! ! AND - Yes, it seems "We" have done the same thing, however I am now having other results given the new format as I explain in the previous post above . . .

Even with that said, more importantly, even though the Text size in post has been mentioned before, I am just bring this up as another issue - especially with that new Profile Stat Box sitting there, and since I am pretty sure other's may be experiencing the same issue/situation . . Also, so it might be adjusted sometime in the future . . . :D

Although I know I can scroll past all of them, they are taking up way to much real estate at the top of the page and more importantly, have become extremely annoying to see each and every page to say the least . . . :censored:

Thank You . . . :D

Even if they relocated those items, it would probably still just be white space over there. Typically forums utilize that space for ads, which probably aren't there for you because of adblocker or some other software (or maybe the ads haven't been placed there yet)

my connection is marginal and with all those videos trying to load i wasn't getting anywhere
That's part of the problem here also, before we could block the gif's and cute pics and see a link that said what they were many I had seen hundreds of times and didn't need to see them to know what they were. I'll keep looking for a add on that just blocks the gif's and cute pic's but doesn't remove every pic on the page.

The terms "issue", "bug", "problem" etc... only apply when they aren't done on purpose... so it may be an issue for you, but that doesn't make it an issue for the forum since it is by design.

So sarcastically ( because I don't care for it either )... this is a feature we are talking about. At this time, this "feature" is not able to be disabled.

While I'm being all technical and stuff ( sarcasm directed at me :) ) ... The relative size of a monitor screen and the contents on it... should be stated in pixels since inches ( or mm etc ) can have different amounts of pixels. Example... while I have a 22" wide screen monitor here at the house, it's actually a 1680x1020 pixel screen... the 21" I use most at work is 1920x1080 so a window of a certain size can equal the size on the other ( in inches ) the number of pixels would differ considerably in some cases. Just an FYI... at home my Chrome browser windows ( inside the borders ) is 1335px and as I mentioned I'm at 125% zoom in order to not see the box on the right side.

You can find addons that can block ads and such since those usually come from specific places... but you probably won't find one to only block just the specific image types you are talking about. GIF's, PNG's, JPG's and others are used interchangeably and which is used is often determined by the attributes that are needed. Example... both GIF's and PNG's support transparency but JPG's don't and in addition the transparency of PNG's on Internet Explorer is dependant on how they are defined and used so it doesn't always work in that browser... so most images with transparent attributes will use a GIF where possible. The resulting size of the pic may also determine which format is being used.

But gif's are also mostly animated and using them that way in signatures has been explicitly ruled out by rule 27.

    T
GIF's can be animated and they are one of the few that allow that... but that doesn't mean most of them are, just that they can be used for small animations.

The sig's can already be disabled in the user settings... avatars on the side can't be yet where some of this situation can be a problem for users on limited internet/data accounts. Of course most browsers also let the user turn off all images but many websites use so many, much of their content is then lost when browsing them without images. That is where it would be handy to have user settings that allow the user to select what they want to see and what they don't want.. ie blocking both sigs and avatars could help save some users a bit of data bandwidth but killing some of the images within the posts take away from the content.

But the bandwidth certain users are not in a worriedly way of disparate fundamass musing about, could well be the generaction muftitude that we've come to expect based on the loafitudinal studies.

"@rdsok" . . . Thank you for that information and edification . . . AND - I do really appreciate 'Your" sarcasm . . . However, Ya' have gone WAY ABOVE "My" Head be an "inch" away or over a 1000 "pixels" to far . . . It is what it is, just like you said, but that still does not negate what I consider a possible issue for "Me" and some others . . . More importantly, why is there now a profile stat box showing only to "Me" . . . I know "My" Stat's I do not NEED to see them - be it that they only show up in a bigger window or not - it's other's that might not know and would be interested in those stat's for their own reasons . . . Anyway, I think "We" have discussed way to much now and if something will or will not be done is up to ECF Administration and the "Team" . . . ;)

    Again - Thanks for responding to "My" post . . . :D

I've been playing with different configurations of my browser window size and zoom and I have found a happy combination after several adjustments. My questions is as follows: can I save that setting? Is there a simple way to do that? I just resize the window um... manually--drag and drop...

I'm not sure this is the place for that question since it's for forum issues and not a general computer forum... perhaps send me a PM ( conversation ) about it so we don't take this thread off topic... include what OS and it's version and what browser you are using since those must also be known. If I don't know the answer, maybe I can point you in the right direction to find them.

I just read a post in another thread where someone said that "hovers" don't work for previewing threads on Chrome.

Has that been determined to be the case?
Because I was sort of patiently waiting for a fix.
    :)

As in 'if you hover over the thread title you can see the OP'? Works for me (in Chrome).

They work fine on mine... I could see some add-on/extension blocking them though
