Remember that the FDA can "only" regulate, they can't tax. But they certainly can try to regulate ecigs out of existence, though they know they'll be barraged with lawsuits if they do, so I'm clinging to the hope that they'll be fearful enough to be somewhat reasonable.

I believe the first draft will be very restrictive, but as the process takes its course I expect some easing before final regulations are set. I also believe if the regulations are too restrictive there will be lawsuits challenging the regulations which could possibly hold them up for quite a while. As a layman, I can only wait and see and provide a voice and support for the cause.

The FDA has also said they will follow the science, so here's hoping they read past the headlines and come to the same conclusions we vapers have.

Their is another person that loved to use those tactics. He was named "Adolf Hitler."

... and Hitler was probably the earliest example in modern times of a political leader with a rabid campaign of terror and persecution against smokers (though he had smoked in his youth). The same campaign of disinformation and scaremongering still works today ...

I honestly dont know what to think anymore! Every time we see a ray of light, we get bombarded with more fear mongering. We are going to have to combat this in the media IMHO, when the time is right. I hope OUR leaders have some good contacts. We need to sway public opinion in a big way. We have to push back. We can't just roll over. I have to imagine, out of ALL our ECF members, there is someone out there connected to the mainstream media at some capacity. Just my :2c:

I'm tired of thinking about what they might do and then what we will do thing.

The sooner the FDA comes out of the closet and goes public ... the better.

Many here will panic and most threads will end up being "stock up" and DIY discussions.
Oh, not to forget YE OLE suggestions that we need to "write your Congress person" and of course
the tried and true method of getting government to listen ... a White House petition.
:p

Then in time we will find the work-a-rounds and things will calm down ... Again.

How do you know it's October 2nd? Did the FDA come out and announce a specific date? I thought it was October 2013, no actual day specified. The notice (for this go around) is here (View Rule) and has a date of 10/00/2013, but no legal deadline.

I said (the month of) October is 2 weeks away, not that it's going to be October 2nd.

This same thing has been going on for A Long Time, as I am sure you remember from back in the day. Just everyone, Calm Down...
If the FDA works like Congress and the Senate, then we still have Years until anything happens. Also the innuendo that they are spewing will do nothing without lab results, which will take years. This same BS was going around in 2009, if they wanted to ban it, why haven't they done some testing and trials in the last 4 years? Because everyone they do don't give them the facts they want, so they are pumping up the media to spew the facts they want everyone to believe. If you tell a lie often enough, people will believe it to be true. Just My :2c:

Total B.S.! Metals and Formaldehyde in E juice! Whatever.

In e-juice, no. However, it is my understanding that formaldehyde is formed as a byproduct of the vaporization of the liquid, and that metals can be detected in the vapor because of the metal material(s) used in the coil. What is BS is that these things (when detected) are at very minute trace levels, and those with an agenda focus on them without mentioning that fact, or putting it in context.

That sounds nice. I hope you're right.
The changelabsolutions.org site seems to believe the FDA is going to help them keep their patches and gums free from real competition though. Getting Your Voice Heard - Commenting on Federal Regulations | ChangeLab Solutions

I hate when school opens. Every year, first thing, the kids bring home colds and flus. So far, I've been fine. It must be the PG.

On three separate occasions since I quit smoking/started vaping, I've gone to bed with early cold symptoms, certain that I would wake up coughing, aching, and doomed to 2 or 3 weeks of misery ...

All three times, I dodged the bullet, no cold or flu, like when I was 20-something (40 years ago) ...

Coincidence ?

I fully understand your feelings and concern. Considering that only a miniscule fraction of ECF members take the time to join CASAA and far less actually provide support, it becomes discouraging. And then there are the supposed vapers on ECF who post that FDA restrictions are a good thing and that vaping is the same as smoking. You really have to wonder where this lack of logic, common sense and understanding comes from.

If the demon regulations are ugly for vapers, I think we'll see a slight uptick in CASAA membership.
And when I say slight I mean huge.
