Well enough about "other" vendors. I really want to try the Frenilla when it is released!

Me too. I have a small stash of tobacco flavors (from "other vendors") that could use a good drop of Vanilla.

I did set up an account with Nicoticket so hopefully he will announce it through a newsletter or something. I may also try the Custard's Last Stand.

Try CB too. I haven't tried CLS (have a 15ml bottle coming in today) but CB is truly super über good.

However, I have a very simple set up for now. I have an eGo C passthrough battery with an Aspire ET BDC Clearomizer so don't know if that is my problem. I really don't want to spend $$$ for the custom set ups I have seen on this site!

Well. While I did get blown away when I tried my Provari for the first time, and my KF is miles better than my Kanger clearos, I totally understand where you're coming from.

I still use and like my EVODS, though I like the Innokin VV3 better. If you want to stay on the "cheap" side, I would recommend it (VV does change your life), or an MVP2 (haven't tried that one but heard a lot of good things about it). They're both sold in the $30-$50 range I believe.

If and when you end up willing to give building coils a try - go with an EHPro Kayfun Lite Clone. It sells for $35 and is as good as the real thing.

Or maybe you just need a little time to get off the cigs. Some of us did smoke and vape for a while and for a lot of them, their smoking just disappeared on its own.

I would still try to find a really good juice you really like before investing in hardware, if you ever want to do that. A good juice is the key. Hardware just make it better. Maybe you can go in a B&M and ask if you can try a few different tanks and/or mods, see if they change anything for you.

Youtube is your greatest friend when it comes to learning the ways of the e-cig. I started out with a simple ego and cheapo clearomizers. I am sooooooooo glad I made the jump to rebuildables and mods. If wrapping your own coils isn't your thing, then companies such as Kanger, Innokin, and Aspire make solid tanks. My wife uses the Kanger aerotank and the protank 3 on top of a Sigelei v5. It's not the best but it's certainly leaps above an Ego. As was mentioned earlier, a VV/VW (variable voltage/variable wattage) device will allow you to adjust your battery output to whatever tank you are using for the best results.

As for sweet flavors from nickoticket, try CB (Creme Brule) CLS (Custards Last Stand), Frenilla, or GCD (Grandmas Cinnamon Danish). If you like fruity flavors, pretty much all Nicoticket fruit flavors are spot on. Tobacco flavors? I'm in love with Wakonda and Radioactive! Virus is good as well.

Ok I see what the MVP is. I really find it weird to be using a box! LOL! My Freedom Smokes carries it. The kit is $59.95. Not sure if my clearomizers will work on it. I have spent a lot of money in the last month with this. Yes I know. Think about how much I spend for a carton of cigarettes. Once I find that sweet spot, the spending will go down. My husband is happy that I am attempting to quit smoking. He is not happy with the money that I have spent so far on liquids and the simple equipment that I have found. I have read a lot of reviews on different liquid vendors and all of them are using non start up equipment. I wish the vendors would post something on what type of equipment is best to use with their product.

The main advantage is Variable Voltage. You don't have to understand it to use it. You just set it lower or higher until you find it performs in the way you like.

If you don't want the box form factor, there are other VV mods :

- Innokin iTaste VV3 - I have it and like it a lot. It's also super light. Sells for $30-$40. I just wish it wasn't squared.
- Evod VV - I have one too and it's good, although I like the Innokin better.
- Ego Twist - haven't tried them but I suppose they're just like the Evod VV, except not the same brand.

Do that, and find a juice you love. The rest will come naturally (or not, but that setup will work just as well).

You can generally find the MVP at 101Vape for 39.95 for the kit. So be sure to look around at different sites. Same goes for the clearos, for the Aspire ET-S I've seen price ranges from $7.95-$16.95 at different online vendors.
Like was stated above, find the juice first since better equipment will just enhance the flavors you like/love.

TBH my son started me on this. We went into a cigarette shop in my town and I bought a simple eGo kit and a menthol and mocha liquid. While neither one blew my socks off, it did help. The last carton I bought (which would normally last me 7 days - I work from home and smoke in the home) ended up lasting me over 2 weeks. I have tried several different liquids since then. I really like French Vanilla even though there are now reports that it can harm you. It figures that I would be drawn to something else that will kill me!

The problem that I am having is seeing people post that juices are out of this world but they are using expensive modded equipment. How do these liquids taste in an inexpensive set up? Why does more expensive equipment make the liquid taste better? These are the answers I am seeking as continue my adventure into the world of a smoking alternative.

Once I find that one liquid that does it for me, then I can start to back off on the spending and just quit cigarettes altogether. However, I feel that my search for that elusive liquid won't come until I invest in something that will probably be way too expensive and will require maintenance that I am not sure I am talented enough to accomplish.

I am grateful for this site and thank all of you for your advice. :)

The only change I noticed when I upgraded my gear is the flavors became stronger or elements of the juice others mentioned I finally noticed. Your gear is absolutely good enough to find a good juice!! :D

How about just using a variable voltage battery for now? I think I can justify spending the money on that as long as I can still use my clearomizers with it. I have 8 of those and don't want to throw them out! So what is recommended for a variable voltage if I can go that route?

Good idea, and I stand with my recommendation of the Innokin VV3, unless the box is ok in which case maybe the MVP2.

This one I've read good things about: iTaste VV V3.0 - Best Electronic Cigarette | E Cigarette Manufacturer|Best Vape MOD| Innokin

and I like that MVP from same company.

Both of those you can continue to use your clearos and will give you good flavor.

Don't be surprised if you find more than one juice, I hit 4-8 different flavors a day, though I do have a couple of big favorites.

Finding the flavor profile and nic level you like will make a huge difference for you. When I started the vaping journey several months ago I didn't have a high enough nic level and I couldn't find a juice I was crazy about. A month ago when I started vaping again I went a higher nic level and quickly discovered Nicoticket. All of the flavors are outstanding, even on my vv v3.0 with an aspire tank. My understanding is a tank can mute the flavor somewhat. I can really tell on certain flavors something isn't getting through! Even though the flavor is still good. Butterscotch pudding does this for me in a tank. I still love it but I can tell something is missing. My favorite flavor is constantly changing but I did stock up on 265 ml of Refresh because I really really like that one even though I don't care for fruit vapes!

In a quest to maximize flavors I have purchased a mechanical mod and I am starting to build coils. Once I get coil building down I am going for a Reo Grand!! What flavors do you like? I saw you mentioned menthol and mocha...you might consider trying the coolcumber mint and Wakonda from Nicoticket.

NZ = Near Zero - most vendors would just call it zero and call it good, but the gist of it is, I don't *intentionally* add nicotine to the liquid, but, because there is nicotine "on the table" when it's mixed, there is an outside chance that some nicotine may creep in there. The chance is remote, but any chance is a good enough reason for me to say "hey, this might have a little nicotine in it".

As far as gear is concerned, you will get lots of recommendations. If what you have, works - don't be at all pressured to upgrade. "The best ecig on the planet is the one that works for you." In the end, if you enjoy it - that's all that matters. I started on simple equipment and have upgrade to some very expensive and elaborate gear over the course of the my vaping career - BUT - all the liquid without exception is tested on "simple, beginner equipment" and works just fine. Comparatively speaking, drippers and advanced user devices (like the Kayfun, etc) will always give better flavor and a better experience - but there comes a point of "diminish returns." At some point the increases in relative flavor and performance between negligible, and mostly unnoticeable. One thing you will come to find is that ECF is increasingly becoming an enthusiast community - we split hairs and argue about fractions of a volt when it comes to voltage drop, etc... in the beginning, safe to ignore all that...

The only thing I would add is that, like you, I was adamant that building my own coils wasn't something I was even remotely interested in doing, but from a financial perspective, it makes total sense. For under $7 (shipped) you can get 100' of Kanthal wire, enough to make 50 or so coils minimum. Comparatively speaking, the "stock atomizer heads" that come out of China cost at least $1.50 each, sometimes as much as $3-5 dollars each in a brick and mortar store. Add significant performance increases to the savings, and the single best thing you can do to ensure you make a successful transition is to get over your residual fear of "can I do it" with regard to making your own micro-coils. Honestly, not that difficult... and worth the time and effort to learn.

There is a book by Robert Pirsig call Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Essentially, the author bys what by all accounts a "good motorcycle" - but, he takes the time to do regular maintenance. His riding partner buys a "top of the line motorcycle" under the auspice that "they are the most reliable bikes ever made, I shouldn't NEED to fiddle with it." On the trip, the pair get into high altitude riding (Colorado, ironically enough) and both bikes start running lean. When a minor adjustment is made, the guy who took the time to learn a little about the bike underneath him had a much pleasant riding experience, while the guy who was totally opposed to picking up the maintenance manual continued to struggle up the mountain.

It's a paradigm for life - being a successful vaper isn't about throwing money at hardware until you find the right solution, it's about learning how to best utilize the resources at your disposal and ensuring that they continue to run well.
