Give him your opinion on mods. Just be sure to tell him the risks of running rebuildable's (battery safety, no regulation in a mech, etc.) He can make his own choices so It's up to him if he wants to use nicotine. Consider getting him a box mod with a sub tank so he's blowing respectable clouds and it's safe(r).

While you're at it, find and show him some pictures of injuries gotten from batteries venting while stressing only knowledge about batteries and extreme care can prevent the venting.......while "forgetfulness" and "fake" batteries can happen to the most astute vaper. :)

Mech mods are really NOT for beginners simply because there is so much to learn to be safe and to get use to. His friends will NOT be around him all the time to prevent him from making a mistake.

He's watching his friends blow clouds and wants to be cool like them. Nothing else will do...
Those clouds are mighty tasty Steve and gives me a great nicotine fix without tasting like crap.

My opinion on this stays the same as before. He's an adult, better vape than pick up a different more harmful habit. I'd give him all the information he wants, and what he needs to be safe, and let him make his own choices. I've got a few buddies who vape that either never or very very rarely smoked. Nicotine withdrawal or dependence hasn't been a problem with them personally. I like doing it, so I'll rebuild for em at times. They can do it, but they like it when I do it better ;)

I have come cross this senerio more and more within the last few months. The answer i give them is if it is for social reasons, skip the ego stuff and go directly to sub ohm. But sell it as more than a "cool" thing and as more a hobby. I do my standard pipe bomb speech, and if that does not scare them, we move on to what is involved with doing this. Most continue on and go cloud chasing, but some say screw that and move on. Make your friend understand that it is a hobby and also there is a bit of responsibility to vaping and let them decide what they want to do. just my 2 cents. LongLiveVape

I might be in the minority here, but nicotine has a lot of potential when it comes to preventing degenerative neurological diseases, it can help some people with ADHD, and it's a pretty decent stimulant and does all of the positive things that low-level stimulants do. If someone is an adult and they want to vape, I don't feel that I have the right to stop them even if they want to vape nicotine. There's a reason why pharmaceutical grade nicotine even exists. Vape companies might use it, but it wasn't created for them. I'd feel an obligation to remind them that it's viciously addictive and I'd give them safety advice, but I don't see it as my place to dictate someone else's personal habits.

Tell him it's an expensive habit and recommend 0 nic since he's not addicted to it no reason to become addicted just in case they find out that inhaling this stuff causes us to all grow extra toes or something. That will make it easier to quit if he doesn't enjoy extra toes.

Expensive? Not unless you buy stuff like crazy. I use $4 on juice a month and my coils last for about a month. $3 a coil. And my gear (two in one) costed $30.

I used $350 a month on cigarettes alone. I stopped eating snacks and soda when I started vaping too, so basically I spend as much as a non vaper.

How about starting him on this. A defender 36 watt or i stick 50 watt and a decent sub ohm tank say a Arctic with a 0.5 ohm coil. Should be safe with this setup and he won't need to upgrade in a couple of weeks. This is what I rock on and it's great. As for juice on that setup a selection of juices of different types in both 0 nic and 0.6 nic to see what he prefers.

I have a friend who never smoked in his life but given he hangs around with me and my other friends who are always ripping mods and vape talking he told us he wants to start vaping too. He's asking us for advice on where to start (he wants to go straight into a mech or APV device) Is this generalized as a bad choice? What should I tell him? I don't want to seem like a jerk but at the same time it wouldn't make sense for him to start vaping since he's not a smoker to begin with.

It may make more sense then you realize. It's impossible to gauge why somebody wants/needs to take on vices like vaping, smoking, alcohol, caffeine etc... You are his friend, not parent. If he enjoys being part of a forum, suggest he come here so that you have a back up teacher. That I would say is the most important thing to do.....See that he is educated about safety, the different views on addiction, DA/AP and other chemicals in ejuice, and the political side and fight behind this world we love. Not being sure how close of a friend this is could I suggest you let him borrow a set up of yours for a bit so he can see if he really wants to do this or not? Once again I reiterate educating him on the safety!!! Good luck. Hopefully if he decides this is for him that he will take the time to join ECF and get involved with learning all he needs to be safe and informed. :)

Vaping is not an expensive habit if you do it right.

Cloud chasing on the other hand IS.

Cloud chasing is to vaping as hot rodding is to driving.

Dont confuse the two.

hes gonna vape no matter what... hes interested, curiosity has the best of him... show him the ropes teach him correctly and start him on 0nic.... no need to give him nic and wanting it for the rest of his life..... unless hes already been snagged by it from trying others vapes which had nic in it... if thats the case, its too late, he is doomed .....
