It's been about 3 weeks of vaping for me now. As I acquired all the equipment I needed to do vaping "right", I gradually reduced my smoking of analogs. Right now I'm on day 3 of NO ANALOGS. There has been just maybe 3 or 4 times I thought about smoking, but I resisted and vaped more! vaping WORKS!

I've been reading and studying everyday and I'm finally figuring out vaping. There's a LOT to vaping! Don't get overwhelmed, but keep reading and educating yourself. There's some outstanding folks on this forum. I just want to pass along some things that might help another noob out.

* Find a juice that you really like. In fact, find 3 or 4 that you like. It makes a world of difference when making the transition from analogs. If you don't really like the flavor of what your vaping, you probably won't give up the analogs. I tried a few different brands and I have found backwoodsbrew.net to have the best eLiquids. Their tobacco flavors ROCK.

* Buy MULTIPLE devices and accessories to vape with. Just buying a single 510 is not going to work, you'll be smoking analogs when you run into problems. I recommend you have at least TWO eCigs, AC charger, USB charger and quite a few atomizers, cartomizers and carts. I also recommend you buy a pass thru with AC adapter so you have something 100% reliable. All of this is money well spent, better spent than on buying analogs! Use the money you would have spent on analogs to fund your purchases and go "all in" to vaping.

* On top of the above, I also bought a Phidias which was money well spent.....search the forum. I highly recommend buying a more "hardcore" vaping device no matter what it is. At the advice of others, I tried using the "LR" (low resistance) atomizers and found I didn't like them. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. It's going to take some experimentation to find what you like. Don't give up! IMO, it's worth spending $100-150 on a better vaping device and it WILL help you quit the analogs. If you find you don't like the device, simply sell it here in the classified sections, take the money and try something different. It's very easy to sell your unneeded vaping equipment here.

* With the 510, cartomizers are the ticket to success. Put different flavors in them and switch up what you're vaping. It's one of the biggest advantages over analogs, you can change up the taste anytime you want.

* As you give up analogs, make sure you vape a lot before bedtime. I've quit analogs many times and I have a very hard time falling asleep if my nic level is not high enough. I think this applies to most people that quit smoking. Vape like crazy before bed and you'll sleep better IMO.

ADDED EDIT

* I had a lot of problems with dry atomizers and burning the bridge fibers on the atty. If you hit your ecig and it burns and tastes like holy H3||, your atty is dry. A DRY ATTY WILL PRODUCE VAPOR....SOME NASTY VAPOR. Make sure your cart is saturated with juice and try tilting the ecig downward as you hit it so the juice moves toward the atty. After you hit it, hold it in a down position ALWAYS to help keep the juice near the atty. A cartomizer will help you avoid this problem.

GOOD LUCK!

Hi, I am a noob vapor.

It has been 32 hours since my last analog! Oh, I also started vaping (Ejoye 510), 32 hours ago :)

I agree completely. I thought I bought enough to hold me over till my next order comes in, while I do have enough, it is enough of flavors that I found I don't particularly enjoy. I got the standard kit that has pretty much 2 of everything. I found the preloaded tobacco flavor to be highly lacking. While it does taste somewhat like a marlboro, it has a long way to go. I also bought a bottle of apple and a bottle of menthol. I am not a menthol fan, I like them every once in a while but I figured what the heck, I would try it. Well, basically, mine tastes like mint. Not menthol. I am not that great of a mint fan. A mint person would probably love it though.

I also got the apple. It is pretty tasty but not something I want to smoke all the time. So, there are my two choices until my big shipment comes in in the next day or two. I am holding out fine though, I have only had a couple times where I actually thought about a real cig and I think that had more to do with what I was doing at the time instead of the actual urge to have a real one. So far, so good on that.

Now the odd.
My vaping is very inconsistent. One hit will be full of vapor and the next hit will be much less, then the next hit may be lots of vapor again. I can't seem to figure out what I am doing that is causing the inconsistency, I feel that I am doing the same thing every time but obviously there is something I am doing differently. So far, I have tried the cartomizer which I like, but its full of menthol and oddly enough, doesn't produce a lot of vapor. I am currently dripping 3 drops of the apple directly on the atomizer and using an empty cartridge with no filler inside. Dripping is nice, but I think once I get the juice I like that I would rather go the cartomizer way. Although, for around the house, dripping is not a bad way to go. Especially if you are trying to figure out how much your actually vaping. I have around 100ml of different flavors coming, I just wish it would hurry and get here.

As a side note: With the apple and menthol (they are both 36mg). I feel more satisfied after I have smoked the crappy pre-loaded cartridges then I do with those (at least at this moment). I think it has to do with the tobacco flavor for me. At least for now, in the early stages of me quitting analogs. Its like I am cheating with these other flavors hehe.

I also dont feel like I am vaping like crazy. I was a 2 pack a day smoker. I am getting around 3 hours of smoking out of the little 510 battery before its vapor production really starts dying off. A single cart seems to last me around the same amount of time. Today I have been hitting it a little harder but I still got 3 hours out of the battery. I guess a lot of it has to do with my juice being at 36mg, which I will be cutting back on when my other stuff gets here. It was just the only strength they had when I first ordered.

Same problem I had, I just didn't like the marl or the first flavors I bought. In fact, I hated them. LOL Now that I found BWB flavors, I'm good. I feel I can go out and try some other brands to experiment with. The pressure is off on finding something I like.

I also got the apple. It is pretty tasty but not something I want to smoke all the time. So, there are my two choices until my big shipment comes in in the next day or two. The urges to smoke will come back, over and over. Good luck winning that battle without flavors you like. I had to buy some analogs to tide me over until I found the right flavor{s}.

Now the odd.

Not enough eL getting to the atty. It might be in the way you're holding the 510. Try to keep it pointing down as you hit it so the juice flows toward the atty. When you hold it between hits, keep it pointed down too.

Now that I have the Phidias, I don't get near enough vapor out of the 510's. It's OK, but nothing like the Phi. Follow my advice and drop $100-150 on a better vape device. It really feels much more like smoking when your ecig can crankout the vapor.

Find a good tobacco flavor! I'm vaping the BWB Maple Tobacco like a madman. My fellow vapors at work constantly ask for hits of it off my Phi! LOLOLOL I'm going to have to start charging them....they are in lust with my Phi and Maple!

I have to be honest... to me it is all about finding the "right" liquids. That is all that matters in your success. Not all liquids are created the same.

It took a few tries before I found the ones that worked best for me. Even similar flavors from different sources were RADICALLY different.

I also thought the idea of vaping "sweet" flavors was not for me. I don't have much of a sweet tooth. It turns out, I reall do like many of the sweeter ones on occasion.

After trying about 20 different liquids from 5 different "recommended" vendors, I found the producer and flavors that worked for me. VaporBomb has a "Virginia" tobacco flavor that is spectacular and it is my regular vape. I go for their chocolate-mint, french vanilla, and snickerdoodle (yes... snickerdoodle) flavors when I want something sweet. Their "Max" tobacco flavor was OK as well. All of them were better (for me) than any of the other ones I had tasted from other vendors.

Don't be afraid to shop around.

When you read reviews from people who sound like you, read more of their posts. You will tend to find greater chances for success that way.

Don't be afraid to share your failures or challenges. You will find PLENTY of others in the same boat who are willing to help.

YES! Notice how I put that FIRST. I too feel it is really the most important factor. You gotta love the taste of your juice.

I'm officially through my first week of analog to vaping transition! w00t! NO ANALOGS ALL WEEK!

Tonight we had a lot of folks over to the house, several smokers. Vaping is crazy, I spent a lot of time explaining vaping to everyone....it's like I have a mission to convert every smoker I run across to vaping. Everyone is so intrigued by my vaping and equipment they keep asking me questions. LOL We don't allow smoking in the house so I was frequently joining the smokers outside for conversation. I'm primarily using a Phidias but I also have a couple 510's. I had all the smokers try the devices and flavors. Two of them are already interested in starting. Most of the outside conversation was dominated with talk of vaping! FUN STUFF!

Another cool thing....we played some cards and yahtzee...I vaped the whole time. No annoying the non-smokers with stinky smoke, no stench, no ashes....it was nice. The advantages in a social situation really came to light for me tonight.
