I've been vaping a long time now and made the change to cartos not long after they came out. Like everyone else, I'm used to the occasional bad carto. Here lately though, it doesn't seem to matter if it's smoke tech or boge, I'm getting nothing but bad cartos!

Out of my last batch of ten, 9 didn't work right. Mostly adding enough juice to make it come out the bottom and still nothing reached the middle so all I got was burn. Yuck.

So now I need some advice on finding a good 510 carto.

Help! :)

The trick to cartos is getting them completely saturated. Just because juice comes out the bottom doesn't mean the inside is saturated it just means juice is getting into the center air tube which will come right out the bottom.

If they are standard length cartos you need to get almost 1ml of juice inside the carto. If it's an xl carto it will take close to 1.5ml of juice.

My most dependable way to fill is with a 20 gauge sharp syringe. I put the needle all the way down and slowly inject and then slowly pull the needle up while injecting putting in about half the juice. Then I put the needle down the other side and do the same thing. I've never had that method fail, ever.

The other thing you can do is put a toothpick in the center hole and then drip juice in and wait for it to absorb and just keep doing that until a drop or two come out the bottom. Always gently blow the excess out of the center hole and it should be ready to go.

That should help.

Hey there! Sorry you're having a bad run with your cartos. How exactly are you priming them? Whats your pg/vg mix? I've learned that just because the juice is running out of the bottom that doesn't mean they're primed. Especially since I vape 70/30 & its pretty thin. I look to see if the filler in the punched holes looks like its saturated now. The condom method didn't work for me. I use boge SR cartos. I've gotten them from several places...hoosier vapes, ElectronicStix, & valley vapes. I've started punching my own & now get them from hooiser or mt baker (great coupon codes or automatic coupon code from hooiser usually). A lot of people love ikenvape but they're always out of stock. Vaporbeast & vapor alley also have great prices.

Stalk Ikenvape. Sign up on the product page to get an email notification of when they're back in stock and jump on it. I got lucky and hit it last time. I was dealing with at least a 50% failure rate on Boges and Smoks, then got these Ikens. I'm going on 10 days of heavy vaping, 100% VG in a cartotank, and it's starting to taste a bit toasty.

Tried the toothpick thing on the ones I saved that didn't work. It didn't work on them but thanks for the tip.

Will be checking out more suggestions tomorrow, thanks ya'll.

Once their burnt they're done. They will always taste burnt. Throw them away. That's why it's so important that all the filler is completely saturated with fluid.

I have used nothing but Boge cartos for over 7 months filling only with a syringe and have never had a bad one. The only one that ever tasted burnt was one I didn't get completely filled early on.

Ive been using the boge 3.0 cartos almost couple years now and using the syringe is really the way to go. On a new carto I leave the bottom condom on which keeps the bottom hole plugged up so i can actually over fill them and give them a min to soak up, then I pull back on the syringe to suck up the loose juice then pull off the condom. Works every time. Having a 1ml syringe is the perfect size and it doesn't have to much pressure on it.

I'm also getting a little frustrated with the cartos. I'm currently using 808d thread stuff, though I think I'm gonna start collecting 510 batts & threads cuz eventually I'm gonna be on a Provari. (I've just accepted it as an inevitability). I really dig the Bloogs, though they seem to run a bit warm for some juices. But they last so long and their draw is so easy, but not airy. I've tried the Vapor4life wow blanks, the SR Boges (which were a disaster- 3 of 5 failed right out of the pack, and I'm 99% sure I know what I'm doing) and now I'm trying some Kanger Horizontals but haven't used them enough to form an opinion.

So anyone know a 510 that performs like a Bloog?

Well, I heard about this condom method of filling carts for the first time and have decided to try it. The first one I tried worked like a charm. I'm gonna see how it goes for my remaining carts and the ones that I just ordered. If it continues to go well I'm gonna have to chalk this one up to being my fault instead.

I used to always just drip from the top to fill them the first time but evidently that method is not all that effective and becoming less so it seems. Not sure if they changed the cart or not. Maybe they have filler more tightly packed now. Not sure.

We'll see how this goes.

My story is very similar to the OP. And many others on this forum. Happily vaping Boge's & Smok's for a long time. Then quality control went to hell.

I too would recommend Ikenvape cartos. Yes they are frequently out of stock which is frustrating. But they are out of stock for a reason... they are great cartos!

When they're in stock, jump on them. I just now ordered some Punch (tank) cartos. Get 'em while you can.

I use the SMOK XL cartos - hardly ever have problems. I saturate the foam until the juice drips out (careful not to get any down the center tube), and then set a timer for 30 minutes - to really let it soak through.

I top them off when I get home from work, and then in the morning before I leave and usually get a good 5-7 days out of them.
