So I know that a lot of people who are new to vaping, like myself, are surprised at the fact that there is a huge community devoted to it...I thought it would be fun to list funny misconceptions you may have had when you first started reading forums (ECF or otherwise)

Mine: On my first couple of days on ECF, I kept seeing people refer to the "condom method" of refilling cartomizers....not knowing that "condom" in this case was referring to the little rubber caps that come on the ends of cartos, in my head I was envisioning some ridiculous thing involving an actual condom (think Trojan) filled with liquid and a cartomizer...I was pretty sure everyone was crazy.

I guess I didn't really have misconceptions that didn't revolve around my preference for vape habits. When I first joined ECF, I KNEW I wanted "a cigarette". I wanted something that looked and felt and tasted like a cigarette.

I'm now vaping banana out of what looks like the alien crossbreed between a juicebox and a flashlight. I couldn't have been more wrong.

Thanks for clearing that up...until know...I still thought it was some way to utilize a condom...and was wondering how silly that would look in front of my family!

I also had the misconception that getting into vaping would be easy. Just order a kit, and everything works. Turns out that is far from reality. Lots of refilling, replacing, cleaning, priming, dripping, dipping, recharging, backordering...to name a few things I wasn't aware of.

I think someone yesterday posted a great thread. It basically was to get newbies aware of bottle fed mods. More expensive, but closer to a no frills setup (I'm guessing). I went ahead and bought in between. My RoughStack should be here in a day or so. It's not bottle fed, but at least I can go a full day without charging. I bought some cartomizers, so hopefully that will make things easier for me to enter the wonderful world of vaping :p

My greatest misconception was that I'd buy an e-cig and some juice and I'd be all set. I'm on my 3rd rig now and I've got enough stockpile of juice and spare parts to go into business.

Def this, I thought I'd be saving tons of money. I made it almost week up untill last night without placing any orders. I am starting to spend less now then I would of buying cig's though. Mostly just buying DIY stuff now, pretty happy with my rig atleast untill a very reliable juicebox comes along with excellent reviews.

I have a while to go with this yet, <a week today>...but I really thought I was going to miss the cigarette feel and glowing tip
I also had a tiny issue with the manual button... but like everyone has said <repeatedly> the button takes a minute to become a "no thought process"
I wouldn't mind a glowing tip, and I DO miss not hanging a gag out of the corner of my mouth squinting through the smoke, LOL

My first misconception was that Marlboro juice was going to taste like a Marlboro. Not!

Then I eventually realized that I don't want any juice to taste exactly like a cigarette. Analogs taste pretty terrible the more you get used to vaping. There is, however, something in tobacco cigarettes that makes you want one after a meal and various other times. I still smoke more analogs than I like, but try to keep it down to 6 or 8 a day (from 40 or more 6 months ago).

I spent a good deal of time wondering what the appeal of "Swedish Fish" was. Why in the hell would anyone want to vape something that tasted like FISH? I had to do some digging, but finally came across a thread where someone posted a picture of the Swedish Fish candies and then I got it. I guess I was deprived of something in my childhood, because I'd never heard of a candy called Swedish Fish.

That was my newbie misconception.

That's so funny.....I thought the SAME thing...I couldn't figure out why anyone would vape fish....and I, too, had never had any candy called Swedish Fish. I ordered some when I heard someone say how good it was....and boy am I glad. It's one of my favorite flavors now! Ha.

But they're still a rich source for Omega-3s, right? I love them, so I've been telling myself that.

I had the same thoughts about Swedish Fish. So I ordered it, have had it for about four weeks and will probably never use it again. Didn't like any of the six bottles I bought from there. No throat hits, bad taste, ugh... but that's for another thread...

That it wasn't going to work and I would have a Ecig for the times when I couldn't have a real one.

Not very funny, but its true

I was in the same boat with the condom thing as well.

Kind of makes me wonder if anyone has filled a trojan with some juice and dropped a couple of cartos in there.
