This is one I sometimes get from my SMOKER friends.. "I don't care what you say those things CAN'T be good for you. Plus I don't smoke that much anyways so I don't really care" They're 100% uneducated too. It really starts to get on my nerves. You'd think they'd be happy for me or proud of me. I think part of it is jealousy. Not ALL my smoker friends are like this, just a couple.

Omg, The Onion is the funniest thing ever.

I really dislike when people pull that "what if" crap. It's like, that's a what if, cigarettes have been proven to be incredibly harmful to the human body...

Oh, I got another one.

Don't you hate it when people go "Man, that thing smells weird." ??

"Those things aren't good for you.", they say while smoking a cig.

Really, and those have vitamin C in em and $h!t, I say.

that's the one that got me.

thing is, it was my sister being "righteous". all well knowing i do my homework. also did it in front of my mother from the other end of a phone call well knowing that i'm in the midst of converting her and her husband for the sake of my ignorant sister. because. get this. my mother isn't allowed to see her grandkids unsupervised because she might smoke around them. well... unless my sister needs to dump them on someone right now, right now, RIGHT NOW!!!!!

and my mother has no idea why we don't get along.

After telling a good friend that I quit smoking butts with this *hold up my MVP2*. She says "That's Awesome! So how long will it take for you to quit that too?

My answer... "Probably never!" *with a smile*

that's another bit of malarkey my roommate gives me "isn't the point of that to quit nicotine?" so i explained the varying levels of nicotine and then told him i don't want to give up fun flavors because fun rules.

I look at any misinformed comment as an opportunity to educate. I was once one of those annoying, misinformed people. I got turned on to vaping by a co-worker. I was still smoking and he had been vaping about 6 months. I remember distinctly having the "How do you know that is any less dangerous than smoking?" conversation with him. Even after he explained just what was in his e-cig, I was still skeptical. But I went home, did some research, and a few weeks later both my wife and I were no longer smoking and enjoying vaping.

I guess what I am trying to say is while some comments may seem silly to us as informed, educated vapers, for someone outside our community, it can look strange or equally dangerous as smoking. It is important to be kind and patient and explain why vaping is safer.

I've never had anyone say anything rude or dismissive about my e-cig. I've really only ever had anyone talk to me about it because either they or someone they loved was trying to quit smoking. Or because they had one too, and wanted to compare setups.

Three months into vaping for me and I've had not a single word said against it even though I vape all the time. I'd say at least half the 'real life examples' on here are completely fabricated.

I like the anti-freeze questions. When I first started vaping, my mom saw something on tv about it. "I just saw something on the news, those things have anti-freeze in it!!" No, they don't have anti-freeze in them. There is PG, which *is* a component in anti-freeze, but it's also used in inhalers, and as a suspension in some injectable medicines. "Oh, ok. Well, as long as you don't smoke...."

It's not a myth that PG is in anti-freeze, it really is in it, so I can see how the anti's focus on that to try to quell ecig sales. We just need to educate people, time and time, and time again about the truth!

I'd have to disagree with that. I've been confronted by many people about my ecig. I live in Connecticut. Maybe people vary from place to place.

I've heard almost all of the comments spoken about except the anti-freeze one.

My former co-worker, who claimed that the "smell" from vaping (outside) gave him abdominal cramps (and would then clutch his stomach dramatically and run for the men's room), was the most extreme absurdity I've gotten so far ...

I think we can expect the media disinformation about toxicity and "anti-freeze" to achieve urban legend status ...

But its hard when visiting in Mexico, where every smoker I've talked to about it wants to try vaping, some even offer to by my PV on the spot. I have to try to explain that, without a source of juice and a charger, it will be useless to them after a few hours ...

The tobacco industry in Mexico was protected early in the game by a federal e-cig ban ...

While in Merida, the natives didn't try to buy mine but every time I would try to step outside to use it--the tour guide, waitress, curator, store clerk would drag me back inside assuring me over & over that it was ok to use it inside and much too hot to use it outside.

My mother is convinced that everyone on the Internet is trying to steal my kids and that only thieves and scammers use Ebay.

So.......after 17 months of Not Smoking and everyone that knows me is aware I switched to vaping.........

3 Times today I heard the exact same line from 3 Different People.

Situation:
It is Below Freezing here today. 9 degrees before wind chill
Morning Break, Lunch, Afternoon Break

As I prepare to step out to the Patio area at work - Smokers prison(bars and all) I Here:

PERFECT DAY TO QUIT SMOKING!

Ignored the first 2, but by the third time I was tired and had heard it enough.
I Spun around and blasted out, I QUIT SMOKING !& MONTHS AGO!!
The numb nut even knows me and knows that and responds with, Oh thats right you did.

Couldn't stop myself. I said I WOULD USE THIS in inside(showing my Nemesis with Ithaka on Top) to enjoy my Cappuccino but some people have NO clue!:glare:
My co-worker exited double timing it away.

People must be a lot nicer and less busy-body where you live. I have heard every one of these and I even made the comment, "Why would anyone want to smoke mocha" before I started vaping. I had been a vaper for less than 2 weeks when I desperately wished I had a mocha vape to go along with my apple-cinnamon & menthol.

I have heard all of these and still get the fake coughs & waving the imaginary smoke/smell away. People also drag their children away from me which isn't a bad thing. Children have germs and I don't want to get sick--that's why I carry a personal vaporizer rather than try to get children banned from public places. My health is my responsibility--not the government nor my employer.
