Anyways sound too advanced for even me and I'm good at stuff like that, not sure I want to play around with 10 different settings per drag... just way to much for me. I just want to put batteries in it and vape. Also sounds like a lot of room for failure on this PV, like electronic parts of it, usually we all only have to worry about a switch failing but what happens when the circuit board fails?
How about having an enclosed unit that contains all the circuits and it can easily be screwed out and swapped with a new one. Just takes two screws to hold it in place with plug-in wiring that can just be unscrewed, pulled out, and a new module placed in to bring it back to life. Sounds simple enough to me. Just a slide in unit that when screwed in, touches the + end of the batteries and the V+ out end plugs onto a tab on an atti connector. The V- can just be attached from the screws that hold the unit to the body. The switch can be part of the capsule that pulls up into place when you screw in the two screws.

This would make the unit user serviceable and save costs for the company from returned units. You could offer a trade in on the faulty unit which could then be repaired at leisure. Just my opinion. Hope it does work this way.

nada...i signed up for the waiting list...but havnt heard anything...i think this is a really great PV and i think the more people invest in PV's the beter it will be for us vapers...sure a lot of people might not use all the features but in 5-10 years when this is old technology you will probably be able to pick up one of these units just like a 510 generic kit and for like $30....it is new technology and innovation that will allow vaping to progress and grow like every other industry out there!

buzzkill said something about the new precious having the same technology!!! i dont care who makes it or what its called...i just want the tech :) i dont even really care about the cpecial features all that much either but the PWM technology seems likie it would make a great addition to the PV market...its really a pretty simple concept...i surprised others havnt made one yett.........ahhhhemmm...someone!!!! anyone???? BUZZKILL?!?!?!

Hello everyone,
I'm one of the creators/engineers working the development of "The Pulse" with Cisco. I wanted to take a moment to answer some of your technical questions and respond to some of your concerns.

First of all, I see some concern over the complexity of this PV. While this may possibly be the most technologically advanced PV in the world, I assure you that we are doing everything we can to make it as simple as possible for anyone to use. Right out of the box it will come pre-loaded with a default profile, so you can literaly put batteries in it, connect an atty and begin vaping. When you want to change your vaping profile, you can connect it to a PC via a USB cable, open the Graphical User Interface (GUI), and select or create a new profile.

The GUI will come with many pre-set profiles to choose from. When you click on each one, a graph will show you a picture of the profile's power curve (power vs time) to give an idea of what the profile will feel like when you vape with it. Thats all there is to it for the simple use. For the more advanced users, there is an advanced mode. In the advanced mode the user can specify the pulse width, on-time, off-time, segment duration, pulse frequency...etc for each of the 10 segments of a profile. We give the user the option to break up the profile into 10 seperate definable segments, though I doubt most users will need to use all 10. After you've tweeked the settings to your liking, you can save it to a file for future use, trade with your friends, etc.

Regarding efficiency, there are only a few electronic components in line with the flow of energy to the atomiser and we have very carefully selected them for maximum efficiency. Based on our calculations and prototype testing thus far, we expect efficiency to be 90%-95%. There is very little loss in this design.

Regarding battery power roll-off compesation, this PV will be constantly monitoring the battery power and as the battery begins to weaken, the PV will automatically inrease the pulse width and duty cycle. This means that the user will not notice that the battery is weakening until the battery is depleated and needs to be re-charged. Of course, there will be a cutoff point where the PV will prevent the user from operating past the batteries maximum discharge point. (Safety cutoff)

Date/time stamping will be implemented and when the operator connects the PV to a PC, they will be able to view their vaping history in all kinds of ways. (vape duration, vapes/hour, vapes/day, vapes/week, average, min, max, ......etc)

Thank you to everyone who has commented so far. We are reading all of your comments and taking all of your feedback into consideration. Please continue to comment and question as it is helping us tweek this design to accomodate as many people's ideas as possible.

Thanks,
Doug

Very Cool. Big Brother is vaping

aside from the PC interface, how is this better than a box mod using a PTR01800W adjustable switching regulator (92% efficient at 5 volts, more efficient at lower voltages), and also utilizes pulse width modulation?

don't get me wrong, i appreciate the effort and tech going into this, but it seems like more of a gimmick than anything.
