Saw this on the co-op. Has anyone taken apart the top cap.

Sorry I was just informed the pic was from the bottom of the cap. So they don't come apart.
They do look like they are two pieces pressed together. Will have to try and press one apart when I get some more.

Umm... they do come apart, when I was pulling the tubing off the top seperated from the internal tube and broke the solder point at the 510 center pin connector. Easy fix, popped the center pin out and resoldered the wire and pressed it back in. But not before I used a 2 part epoxy to seal the air hole and on the inside of the tube where it mates to the top. Sucker wont come apart again and no more juice pooling in the tube :)

What 2 part epoxy did you use? Is it food/eliquid safe? Thanks :D

Dan, what I was referring to was the mouth piece, can you press it out from the screw cap. It looks like it is two pieces pressed together.

I have to say, with minimal modifications, this thing works pretty well. I wanted to thank all of you earlier adopters for your great modding suggestions.

I did have to switch out the tube, as the one that was on it was slightly cone shaped and would either seep out the bottom or not hold the top on very well. But now I don't have to worry about this thing coming apart in my pocket as much, the replacement tube is a but tighter. Now O-ring life, that is another story. I have actually entertained putting a fill hole on the side as well.

Oh well, just thought I would chime in. Hope you all have an excellent day.

Well the wire snapped in mine when I first took it apart & I was being ultra careful, coz I'd read about other people having the same issue.
The design on this part of the tank leaves a lot to be desired!

Anyway, I am thinking of modding it & since I want to use the bottom air draw, rather than poking a hole in the top of the tank, I am thinking I could drill a hole through the bottom center pin. Drill it in it's side & then put a screw into the top of the center pin to reconnect the wire, without having to solder it.
I don't like the thought of using epoxy to keep the inner tube together, since I'll be inhaling air through it, anyone see a problem with my idea?

A lot of great information and tips here in this thread. I want to thank everyone who has contributed, and those who will contribute, to this thread.

:toast: :headbang:

And thanks to you TomCatt. Without this thread, I would not have known about this modd-able device. I have been awaiting a genesis RBA that I ordered a couple of months ago and had never tried one until I made this one. Thanks again.:toast:

Expoxy is not a problem if you get the non-toxic when dry stuff. I use it all the time.

Okay, so mine's dead. As I've probably overstated on this thread I'm brand new to this. It was working reasonably well and then I started getting less vapor. I drained it and took it apart I fired it and found a couple of hot spots. I tried tweaking the coil a bit and then decided to wrap a new one. Now I get nothing at all. I'm pretty sure that means I have a short. Can't figure where that may be though. My suspicion lies in the area of the positive post. Has anyone taken this thing all the way apart? How so? And if so, will I be able to re-assemble? Any advice would be most welcome....
