I raged nightly with my GTUS after I got it. Still to this day it is impossible for me to roll a wick 35x35 and get it through that hole. Eventually I went to Lowes n got a Dremel bit to make it bigger. Works really well now.
On a scale of 1-5 for easy friendly coil setup the GTUS is a 4. Once you get it, it works great
Hang in there, bump the coils around and make sure the top n bottom are well oxidized

Btw I saw the pic of your Epipe with the GTUS on it. Looked amazing!! At least I think it was yours

Yup, that is me, still trying to get it to work. Just did it all over again and still fail. Retorched and re-wraped a couple times.

Mind doesnt have that vinyl in the bottom divot hole. Is this a big problem?

Im not going to give up but I have to say this is testing me pretty good lol. It looks awesome on my wasp and with 5mil it is my perfect hang around the house APV.

I don't have either one of the inserts installed on mine, top or bottom. I did take and put a dab of epoxy in that bottom hole, so I can still seat my wick inside it but it won't short against the base. Just use a toothpick to spread a thin layer inside that hole and let it set for a day (though it won't take that long for such a thin layer, most epoxy requires a 24 hour curing period and I'd rather not vape those fumes ;-) ). You could probably do the same for the upper hole, though I haven't bothered with that myself.

While the paper trick is not needed for everyone, I highly recommend it for new users. And do not burn the paper with a lighter, I dry burn the coil until it burns the paper off, thus ensuring that the paper under the coil carbons up the SS wick. I have since adopted torching it red hot, and then using PG/VG dripped on it, or your favorite juice to quench it. Then light the wick on fire. The PG/VG will burn until gone. Repeat that process about 4-5 times, red hot, quench, lite on fire. Then wrap the paper, then the coil and dry burn the coil until all coils glow red to burn off the paper. I have not had one short with this process.

Hello all, been rocking a Gtank for a week or so now and i'm loving it, was a little funky learning to get the wick just thin enough to fit the top cap, and still wick well. I think i've got it now, only a few dry hits (325 mesh and 60vg / 40pg ) found it really likes the 70pg/ 30vg, but i'm more of a vg vaper. Does anyone have any tips, I've heard 275 mesh is great for lots of vg. Been working on loosening the wick up so it flows nice, but still getting dry hits here and there.

The smaller the space between wires lends itself to wicking better as there is less space for the liquid to jump. There are many theories out there about which works better, but I personally do just fine with thin straw-like wicks of 400 in 3 sizes f G-tanks and traditional style genisis. YMMV.

There is someone in the cotton thread that recently uses a mix of 270 mesh and cotton wrap on the outside, but from the outset 200 mesh was deemed appropriate for a carto filler substitute and not as a wicking medium. There is also the bonuts that take advantage of this.

Crap!, GTUS is up on the hoist for a week... finally broke the pos screw by having to continually bend it in so it wouldn't contact the outer...ah well, time I took it apart and fixed it properly anyway...I have 15 chances at it :D

Just a note though...I run my Quigsticks exclusively in my GTUS (1 layer of cheese cloth thread wrapped around a mesh wick)...I'm using 170...not rolled into a drinking straw so much, it's more of a pipe ...completely unconventional I know but with this set-up (I've reproduced it 5 times now) easily keeps up with my Ody and beats the Line vape wise...only drawback is it has the gas mileage of a motorhome...

A pipe (tube), huh? I might have to try that, I keep forgetting to do so and just do new wicks just like the previous one  I certainly don't get anywhere near the performance out of this that I do out of Ody, but I've been doing a pretty much solid wick, both with the Quigstick and without. I'm due for a new setup, anyway

Aha, it was indeed you Quigs, only #170, my oh my. It's been a trying last little while for me, not keeping everything straight. :)

Hope everything is ok Asdaq???

I didn't know it was 170 until I sent a chunk to Cyrus to try, he stuck it under a microscope and did a thread count on it...it's pretty beefy and not the easiest to roll but it works.

I've never had much luck with a solid wick, it'd work for one or two pulls then dry...maybe a little hard to see but here it is:

As you can see I tighten it up to where it's a little sloppy in the mid (it'll just fall out on it's own) and by wrapping the cotton I barely care about the oxidization...roll it up, heat treat a bit, wrap my cotton/coil and done.

Yeah, I'm loving the cotton in that regard. I only even bother to oxidize the mesh with that setup because it makes the wick a little stiffer, so easier to wrap the coil onto. Un-oxidized it's too flexible and a PITA, but just a couple quick torches and it's good and sturdy

On the solid wick thing, I must have done something right the very first time, but not since then, because that first GTUS wick I made was a solid roll of #400 and I was vaping Gorilla Juice with no trouble. Since then I've been hit or miss with all-VG juices working well with my wicks. Definitely gonna try a hollow roll. Overall, I've gotten pretty good performance out of this thing, but I know it can be better and I'm determined to master it and get the full quality of vape everybody else talks about. It's still the only top-fed genesis I've used, so I've got nothing else to truly compare it to, but I've liked it better than any of the bottom-tank ones I've tried so far

Pfft, isn't that always the way?, man, if I had a buck every time that happened to me...

You want a sturdy wick, get some 170 ...hence the "pipe" comment, plus the fact that by using the thread wrap...I only have 2 wicks for my GTUS, don't see needing the 2nd one (ever) let alone a 3rd

Did up a hollow wick, but haven't gotten a chance to actually fill-er-up, yet. I didn't do a good job of the thread wrap, I think one of my coils may be between the threads and touching the mesh and I only did a half-a** oxidation. Test-fired fine, but we'll see. At least I don't need to re-roll the wick, I can just strip the thread and re-do that part if i effed up

All I've got here for mesh is 400 right now, but I'm almost out so when I re-stock I'll probably get a couple different weaves

Don't feel the need to deviate from the 400 mesh thing, I've done both, to me it doesn't seem to make any difference...I just used the 170 because way back in the day I got a 3' x 3' piece of it from a local guy for free (it was a sampler) and I've just been using it because I must of missed the post where someone said it doesn't work...kind of a "blissful Ignorance" thing on my part :D
