Instead of the epoxy in the bottom I just used a tiny bit of cotton stuffed down in there. It won't ever burn and keeps things from touching. I can't get the wick rolled super tight so I just use less mesh. I would say about 22mm or so? I also keep my wick really short like Rusalka does. Having the rolling paper on there helps because once it burns away your wick has a tiny little space around it that helps the coil not dig into the mesh wick and keeps the shorts away.

I think the important part is to not have the wick fitting too tight in the upper hole. It should just pass through it without much resistance. This allows for air to re-enter the top chamber and aids in wicking as well.

You can also use a tiny bit of cotton on the wick where it passes into the top tank to keep it isolated. Just roll the wick over a cotton ball until it catches a few fibers...you don't need much at all!

Good luck!

Great, thanks for the advice. Sounds good. So, if I cant get this work Im gonna be hunting you down in Everett lol.

Can't make it. Family reunion that day in Sequim. Painful cause I am not too far away from it that day. Well, offer stands if you still need some help just shoot me a PM!

Thanks for the generous offer. Ill order some more mesh and try out these latest suggestions. If that doesnt work then ya, expect to hear from me lol. I really want this one to work since it was hand picked to go on my Wasp ePipe.

Has anyone come across the vape company that has a wick and wire pre-rolled and ready to go for sale? I saw it when I was browsing some sites and now I cant find it. If you know please post name.
By the way just a note: I too have not been able to get my GTUS going. I tried quite a few times but kinda put it on the shelf. The wierd thing is I have one of the Gtanks from sturm and it works like a charm. Been burning the same wick and wire for probably 4 or 5 months now and have had no problems. Go figure.

poland, and the brassy lands of google
Oh, sorry I thought you meant through the positive and through the post too. You still have the issue of the feed tube needing to be isolated from the positive and the body which is ground. Are you thinking of a metal feed tube or something synthetic? A messier option would be to have the hole drilled through the SS base, and the brass positive pin, and just flood the lowest chamber (the one with the brass piece). The wick could even stick down into this very small reservoir. There is an issue with brass + juice though.

Top feeding might be a lot easier.

I want a good bottom feeder 18650 VV device, but do not have the money!

I just bought a Phoenix clone and was astounded at how good it tasted right off the bat, and it holds about 10 drops... on the REO forum here on ECF someone drilled the Phoenix and I was thinking along the same lines...figuring I could use one of their reducers to ensure that it does not leak or put out too much when I squonk the bottle

I am wanting a shorter, not longer device, but also want to use a single 18650, preferably without having to use a kick (more $). I like the VV Gripper but would rather it have a bottom feeder in it...and I don't want to slap a bottle on the outside of it, and the GTUS is just too big for it, even the 3ml, and the box if easily breakable (well, it looks that way at least) I could see building a box with the GTUS in it along side an 18650... been looking for project boxes (and eying an old unused quality stereo unit I have that has nice teak sides to it!)

I thought that it was just copper beneath the chrome on the phoenix cap that I was needing to be careful of, forgot about the brass center pin on the GTUS!!!

Dangit, I was supposed to sleep so that I could go check out garage sales to see if I could find a nice sized wooden box with a sliding lid... I can just cut out some of the inner wood if I need to....I have seen many over the years and wish that I would already have one... when I get these thoughts I must force myself to sleep... modumust fever has got a hold on me again! :)

A 5/64"" hole with 5/64"OD 1/16"ID" PTFE tubing would solve the brass problem. Just drill a 5/64" hole through the center pin and then in the bottom well of the base. Then run a 5/64"" PTFE tube through the whole assembly.

Dan: Excellent!!!!

Wouldn't you want the tube to be longer to go down into the bottle, or are you just showing that it can be done?

Just showing it can be done. But yeah if you make it like 1/16" longer so it goes into the center pin of the battery connector then you'd be golden.

Fascinating...just thinking out loud here...if you removed the insulating washer that goes between the top of the pos disc and the underside of the base and replaced it with solid insulating disc (with a hole drilled in one edge for the pos con screw to go through) then just drilled through the hole works with a 1/16" bit, would you even need the tube?, juice would have no where to go except up into the wick well?...you know, that's worth chucking the whole assembled base unit up in the lathe and trying...nothing some epoxy and some wire and solder couldn't reverse if it didn't work?

About the only issue you may have is a need to finger the air hole when you squonked to draw your juice up...
