Is the idea to roll it onto the pin from the unfolded side, so there are no frayed ends when completed. That is the fold is on the outside of the wick when completed.

Next question. How long are you guys waiting after gluing in the scew w/ the head cut off. I waited an hour using Gorilla epoxy and when I tried to put in the machine screw, it got tight then 'screwed' the nylon insert out of place. I re-glued it and will wait over night to try again.

Yes this way the frayed edge is tucked inside and only a smooth oxidized surface touches the SS sides. Minimizes the possibility of shorts.

GG takes 24 hours to fully cure. I have in a pinch used GG super glue before on the bottom 3 threads so it is not in contact with the juice, and inserted it in from the bottom (ready in 10 minutes). But I would use an epoxy over super glue in the log run.

Picked up my package this morning. Assembled with no problem, made a couple of changes. (1) drilled out the polly tube inserts to 2mm just becouse I could (2) chucked up the tanks and milled the tapers inside flat up about 3mm NO SLIP with large "O" ring. Running mesh 35mm X 30mm 325 ss works great. Thank You DAN!! Now I going to go kick some sand ( thats DANCE in desert talk ) woot woot.........

Well I have tomorrow off, and planned on spending the day gluing inserts and assembling the ..... 145? units. So I should have some ready Tuesday morning to go out.
Dan

I am getting excited, I finally ordered kanthal and mesh last week. Thanks Dan for the hard work! Hope mine is number 7 in the batch of 145 to assemble!

Dan, my package arrived today and you'll be happy to hear that everything screws on just fine :) The bottom two sections were slightly rough, just a few micro burrs that I worked off with little effort, but other than that all is smooth :) May not get a chance to do the assembly tonight, but I'm looking forward to putting it through its paces

EDIT: okay, I got it assembled. Took all of 10 minutes to give the parts a quick cleaning (they were actually already pretty good) and do the bottom assembly. Really was a heck of a lot easier than I had expected

Installed the smaller of the two o-rings for the tank, the larger one wouldn't allow the tank to go on even after I lubed up with a little PG, but the smaller one seems to be a perfect fit :)

Hey everyone just found this thread when I was trying to make the wick fire right for the G tank us. The top coil and bottom coil where the only ones to fire I kept adding juice and burning it about 3 times with a 4 second fire and it started working like a champ full coil burn every time....

I love this thing!! being in the military I needed something with a tank that wouldn't break and I found my piece.

By the way this was my first coil and wick every made...Success on the first time!! I can taste my RY4 for the first time!!

Thank you Dan!:toast:

Wooo-hooo! Yikes! I done did it. I put all the pieces together, rolled and oxidized my 1st wick, added the coil and it worked!

Sorry 'bout the pictures, rushed the photo shoot to get back to vapin'. Using it, I feel like the time I caught my 1st trout on a fly I tied myself.
