Is the idea to roll it onto the pin from the unfolded side, so there are no frayed ends when completed. That is the fold is on the outside of the wick when completed.
Next question. How long are you guys waiting after gluing in the scew w/ the head cut off. I waited an hour using Gorilla epoxy and when I tried to put in the machine screw, it got tight then 'screwed' the nylon insert out of place. I re-glued it and will wait over night to try again.
Yes this way the frayed edge is tucked inside and only a smooth oxidized surface touches the SS sides. Minimizes the possibility of shorts.
GG takes 24 hours to fully cure. I have in a pinch used GG super glue before on the bottom 3 threads so it is not in contact with the juice, and inserted it in from the bottom (ready in 10 minutes). But I would use an epoxy over super glue in the log run.
