Just looking at the last couple issues of Goat and Dirquist...since getting a 15 pack of the pos screws I have some experimentation leeway...to lessen the coil "tail" at the pos side I left my pos screw just slightly loose and with a pair of needle nose, bent it in towards the wick...now I just wrap the coil tail in the gap between the spacer and screw head 2-3 times (a la Line) and done...haven't had an issue and no tail glow...:2c:

I never got around to trying my G-tank-US with type B eGo tank cartridges. Well, I have some ordered and I'm wondering if I should cut my SS wick flush with the spiky protrusion on the middle piece? Currently, my wick extends a few millimeters beyond it and it's working fabulously. I'm thinking if I leave it as is and try to puncture the silicone on the tank cartridge that way, I'm going to monkey up my wick and coil.

What say you folks?

Those ego tanks are very easy to puncture using a small screwdriver or something similar. I find that a longer wick seems to work better for me. Even when using the ego tanks, my wick sticks pretty far into the tank. I think you could easily puncture the tank separately and have no trouble keeping your wick long.

Hey all crazy atomizer mad scientists,

I am still loving the ole G-Tank US and I think I have found my good setup. I have become pretty decent and oxidizing a wick and have ended up using this method (sans cotton part, I never really get any shorts):

GTUS build with Mesh/Cotton hybrid wick - YouTube

.........haha, I was about to post a question as to suggestions to get more vapor as my taste and hit were great but lacking some vapor and while I was typing the answer just appeared to me..........to self: "...it's wicking tooo well and flooding.....turn up the voltage idiot!!!..." ;)

never thought I would ever be vaping 2.6 ohms at 5.2 volts  woohoo vaping like a freight train woot woot!

ugh, nic sick...That's all for now

Next coil will be higher ohm-age to test this theory.

I usually like my coils at 3.3ohm -ish or higher and anywhere between 5.3 and 6v. Problem seemed that 36g wire seemed to thin and always had way too red a "tail" at the POS post and cooked. Tried out some 32 and and it took soooo many wraps to get a resistance I liked that the whole atty would get super hot and the 32 felt like it just took too long to get heated up for my taste even at around 2ohms or less.

Got some 34 in today and just as I hoped it was a great happy medium of wire durability and quick heat-up time. I was going for a 3+ ohm coil and guess I lost count and it showed up as 2.5ohms, figured oh well I'll just adjust. I got a lil paranoid about popping the coil so I left voltage low, but once I took it up.....oh man.........I am now getting the best I have ever had of the big 4: flavor, vapor, throat hit and TaDa!!!...NO FRIGGIN DRY HITS!!!! ;) Still a lil "floody" but I would rather deal with that than the other way....

Something told me it was gonna be a good vaping day when I saw my buddy's new G-Tank(talked him into one), sq. foot of 400 mesh and 100ft of 34g wire sitting on my doorstep from the mailman:) Oh yeah, my new AR-15 tactical sling came in also.....

Thanks fellers

A slightly gurglely GTUS is a happy GTUS imo...if I'm a couple hours into a build and it's just seasoning in and I'm "not" getting any gurgle...something's wrong, or soon will be...about once a day I take 20 seconds, pull the outer off and run it and the tank section under the water tap (careful not to get water into the air holes) to rinse off the condensate shake/pat dry and I'm good to go...it's a joy of GTUS ownership ;)

Wow, I think I finally "got it" when it comes to building this thing

Did up a wick last night, wrapped the coil (no thread this time, just mesh). Installed it this morning, fiddled with it a bit 'cos both legs were glowing at first, now it's got no hot spots and it meters at 1.1-1.2 ohms. Loaded up with some GJ and stuck it on my P+. it's vaping beautifully! I can't quite chain-vape on it, but I'm getting good solid hits with great TH and flavor, so good that I don't even mind that it's a cooler vape. This is also the first time I've actually used the 5ml tank and top

You would need to use that tank for all that vaporization!!!

Sweet Killjoy, your definitely a step ahead of me but the good news is I got her going and going pretty darn good. Not sure if it vapes quite as hard as penelope but better than most anything else I have. I wish I took a pic of the coil before I put it together. No hot tails at all and it seems to be wicking just fine. Been using it a few hours already and I noticed it jumped from 2.6 to 2.8 ohms according to the provari. I use it on my Wasp and not the provari though, just use that to make sure I dont short on the Wasp and to check the ohms.

Huge thanks to you all for helping me out. Im afraid to take it apart and try again until I need to. Part of me wants to make sure I can repeat my success but part of me wants to enjoy the vape for a while :)

Here are a couple pics. First with the 3mil on the Provari. Then the 5mil before I got it working on the Wasp

What ya'll think?

Dang! That things a BEAST!!!!

Ya, it sure is lol. Thats why I needed a beast of an atty. It actually looks pretty small on the Wasp. I love it though. I was out vaping in the bar the other night and people were trippin on it. I just like sitting back in my chair and vaping on it. It basically sits in my lap and still reaches to the pie hole. My wife thinks its the ugliest thing she has ever seen.

Yup, now that Ive actually had it working for a day I really really like it. It is a great atty. I hope I can repeat the build though. If I were you Id get one.

Yeah, isn't that always the rub  My current coil setup is the best I've had and the only one I've done since the day it arrived that rivals my very first successful setup. At least I know I have a wick that's working well, so if it comes down to rebuilding all I gotta re-do is the coil. I'm on my third fill, now, and it's still great. Like many, there was a point where I almost regretted the purchase and thought about selling, but after this weekend I'm finally glad I didn't ;-)

I felt that way about my first GTUS (a pre release) a number of times but I finally figured it out then I sold it:(...I went without a GTUS for a while till the co-op finished up...when my new one showed up, I drilled out the mid section right out of the baggy, threw one of my thread wrapped 35x35 big hole 170 mesh wicks in it and it immediately took it's place amongst my Ody, Penny and Lines (and that's saying something), I'll be keeping this one :)...and re-tooling the Cutlass to hold it, pfft! no regrets there...best $200 I ever spent, thanks Landlord ;)

Dan: How much would it cost to have another piece made... the nipple top without the nipple? I am utilizing the B tank and it is working pretty darn good, but want to have both!

I hear ya. On even numbered days I want to drill the hole bigger and lose the nipple on odd numbered days I say leave it alone.
