Well if you feel strongly about it there are other venues where you can post. There is no free speech on the internet, servers are privately owned and operated and it is up to the owner to decide what he/she will allow.

Kind of like you have the right to kick some one out of your house if you think he's an asshatt...

I hope that there is a way to get back all of the precious posts that people have contributed when there is an accidental deleting of ALL prior posts... I highly value all of the effort and footwork that others have contributed :) It means a lot less trial and error for me and points me in the right direction to being on the right tracks.

Yup he is most certainly unwelcome on ECF for now and forever. It is fine to disagree with policies here but when you cross the line and just become disruptive and abusive it is time to go. And that's about all I'll say on the subject other than I will admit I made a mistake, I added an extra zero to delete last XXX posts. Whoops!

Is that last part supposed to be funny? I have too much respect for Dan in order to high jack this thread...guess I'll start a new one...

I respectfully ask that this topic be dropped in this thread. You can even remove these posts if ya want. Bottom line is ECF looks like the ...... in this situation but this isn't the place for that debate.

So, I've been messing with this thing all day (as soon as the mail lady came at 12:30 that was about it for my work day:p) and like a lot of the guys that have the pre-releases it was dry hit city, in fact that was all I was getting...now that could be the way I vape, one of my buddies vapes like an old lady drinks tea and another buddy fills his smoktech mega's till it's pouring out the bottom, cranks the vv up to 5.5v and blasts away.

I finally got it vaping fairly good,

1. It's a much cooler vape than what I'm used to, there's a lot of real estate, especially in the 5ml config for the vape to cool

2. You have to get rid of the hdpe bushing where the wick goes through the mid section, I then I bored out the wick hole with a 3/32" drill bit, I also got rid of the lower bushing in the bottom section.

3. I made my wick out of a 13mm x 30mm piece of 320 ss mesh (seems to recover way faster than the 400) and rolled it around a 3/64" drill bit, I then just tempered/sugared/sooted the whole thing.

4. I wrapped my coil around the 3/32" bit, put in in place, tested it then slide the wick in, primed it, slid the mid section on, snipped the wick on a slight angle about 1/4" up, loaded the tank and put it together.

5. Now I read this part on here and wondered wth! but...before you take a toot, blow into it, it's cool, this little jet of vape comes out of the air hole  but I watched why it works with the recon tank on...as someone figured out, it seems the wick vapour locks with air bubbles and stops the juice flow, when you blow, it shoots the bubbles up into the tank which allows the juice in...see kids, the laws of fluid dynamics are fun:D

At any rate, I can "almost" chain vape this thing with this set up, to compare I have the same juice in:

1. 2.3 ohm Joye atty (dripping, de-bridged/de-wicked) on my Provari @ 4.5v
2. 1.8 ohm coil on my SGV3 @3.7v
3. 1.5 ohm helical dual coil set up in my Ody @ 3.7v
4. 2.0 ohm coil on the GTUS @ 3.7v

my results (and this is obviously a very personal opinion) from best to worse

Taste: 3 - 4 - 1 - 2
TH: 2 - 1 - 3 - 4
Ease of refill: 1 - 2 - 3 - 4
Ease of full rebuild: 4 - 2 - 3

Now these ratings may change with how the GTUS works with different juices, etc...it's no Ody but considering it's half the price (or if you check what some guys on the classies are asking for them, a 1/4 the price :glare:) it's a nice piece of gear. The "set up" learning curve is a little steep at first but so is every re-buildable, I think there is a lot more tweakablity with the GTUS and I can't wait till you all get yours so that the modding fun can really begin, over all, I'm pretty happy so far.

Seems to me you are rolling a straw and not a wick, for a 3/32 dia wick I would tightly roll 45mm with no hole and it works perfect for HV chain smoking and does not leak like the straw will.

Hey BJ, just the guy I was hoping to hear from...Jamesd pointed that out to me as well couple posts up...I rolled 35 mm x 35mm of 320 as tight as I could about an hour ago and bored out the mid section wick hole another 1/64" (so much for that little chase on the tank side:D) I like that slug of wick it's way easier to work with, it's like chunk of black 3 1/2" spike (if you've ever built anything on your house you'd know what that is:))...just seasoning it in now...It's strange, I'm breaking it in on my PT I built with digital amp and volt meters on board...as this wick breaks in you can see the current drop and the v drop get less, hmmm)...already a big of an improvement dry hit wise, huge improvement leak wise...I'm really glad that 320 is better with these, I got about 5 square ft of it off a local guy for free...it was just laying around his shop...I can experiment with wicks till the cows come home:p

Great, here is what I have observed watching on hundreds of SS wicks I have fiddled with and looked at under high magnification, with the juice on top you don't want a hole. When the coil heats up the juice boils and rises thru the hole back into the tank (pure physics), this can cause dry hit on a hard draw, also that rising juice ends up contaminating the juice in the tank. When you are off the trigger the juice flows like a straw down and it is very hard to control the amount and can very easily flood the atty. For me the best is a 2 to 2.5 mm dia wick rolled tight no hole and that takes about 45 to 50mm of 400 mesh and this way you get true wicking and no straw effect.. I have not tried any 320 yet. Now when your juice is under like the Line you benefit from a small hole and the heat rising effect on the juice like a volcano and I normally do 45mm around a small paper clip. As a test I made two small kerosene lanterns out of 5ml bottles one with 1mm ss wick and the other with a 2.5 mm wick, the small wick took 21 min to burn the 5ml of kerosene and the larger wick 3.5 min. I also did 2.5 wicks with different sizes of 400 mesh rolling them looser and the most efficient was the one I could get the most amount of mesh into the diameter.

BJ43, that was very useful info about wick construction. What do you think about wick length?
Does the juice enter the wick primarily through it's sides or through it's end?
If the latter, the wick would need to be very short to allow for feeding at low juice levels. If through the sides, presumably a longer wick would be preferable.

As long as you can make it without shorting on the bottom if the bottom is metal.

I have been using my GT-US daily since receiving it and absolutely LOVE it. I followed Dan's instructions to the letter as far as the wick goes. In the beginning the vapor was cooler than what I like but it seems that as the wick seasoned more the vapor has become warmer. I also found that if I activate the PV for a second prior to vaping the vapor is warmer.

My current mesh is 400 and 15X30mm with 5 coil wraps and 1.9ohms according to my ProVari. With this set up I like the ProVari set at 3.5. I can chain vape with this set up and my 90% VG 10% water/PG free flavor and get no dry hits.

The Danco 7/16 X 5/16 #6 O-Rings Dan recommended for the juice tube was a great fix and I am able to refill easily and yet have no leaking issues.

Here's a pic of my set up which was requested by a PM and I thought I'd share it with everyone.http://
