My standard setup on the GTUS has been 400 mesh with 4 or 5 wraps. I removed the ptfe spacer, so the wick is pretty thick. This setup has worked incredibly well. I then decided to try 325 mesh, as I have read it will increase throat hit (and I'm a fiddler by nature). I set up a 325 wick just like my 400 wicks, oxidized, and wrapped 5 wraps with no shorts. I tried to vape it and it was burning so hot that it was unvapable (burning the liquid, basically). I fiddled with it for about 2 hours, with 3 separate wick attempts, all with the same result. Finally, I added two wraps to the coil, for a total of 7, and it works perfectly. It seems to perform pretty much the same as 400 mesh with 5 wraps. I don't recall reading anywhere that a lower mesh number would require more wraps, so I'm a little surprised by all of this. Anyone have any thoughts or comments on any of this? Just trying to learn a little bit.

EDIT: By the way, after about 5 days use, I have not gotten even one dry hit with the 325 mesh and 7 wraps. Actually, I don't think I've gotten a dry hit since taking out the PTFE spacer and widening the wick (using both 400 and 325 mesh).

Just keep an eye on the classies for a few weeks after we all get them. Given the number of units that were made, the odds aren't too bad that there will be a couple of people who decide it's not for them :)

I'm very much looking forward to the completion of this co-op, both 'cos I'm eager to try the G-Tank and because Dan's gonna needs some much-deserved R&R after this ordeal

Ok, between my Sgv3's and my gtus I have fried all of my pwm mods and the switch has gone bad on my okr beauty. As of right now all I have is my no-ego and dual 18650 parallel box.

Anybody have a recommendation for a commercial vv that will stand up to the sporadic mesh shorts with a better price point than than the provari but still having good quality?

Hey Ed-

Saw this hit my inbox and thought I'd make an appearance,,,,
FWIW.. I'm still using the same provari since November 2010- that's almost 17 months - I bought a backup (not for sale) because I'm always putting it down around the house and forgetting where I left it, and I was in fear that i'd drop it in a lake or a bucket of water while washing the car... or something like that. I'm about as rough as anyone on my devices and the original unit hasn't failed once. Both are going in for upgrades to the new 3.5A board ($20 each) and I'm expecting a new mini any day now ... If you want a provari, get a provari- you'll be better off in the long run. The knock offs just aren't built the way the real deal is. The boards in the provari are replaceable, and as you already noted, the build quality and durability are top knotch and if you ever do have an issue, ProVape stands behind their product. Given the number they've sold, I'm sure there's one or two haters out there, but I got my $ worth and then some.
Add they hold thier value- used they don't last long on the classifieds at prices not far from new....
