I am listing the 12 Senators that have declared war on harm reduction products and noting if they are up for reelection next cycle. There will be an asterik(*) by their name. I am including a little background on some of them. Take note, you might want to volunteer in their opponents campaign.

1.*Sherrod Brown Progressive Democrat Ohio. Career in politics except for a few years teaching. His wife is a journalist and one daughter works for the SEIU. He is leading in the polls in Ohio.

2.Jeff Merkley Progressive Democrat Oregon. Career-Government jobs. Swept in by Obama election.

3.Tom Harkin Democrat Iowa. Reported to have been vetted by Obama as a possible running mate. His wife is an attorney and has worked for lobbying firms and is a director for Conoco Phillips.

4.Barbara Mikukski Democrat representing MD. Worked as a community organizer, elected to the House in 1976 and first
elected to the Senate in 1986.

5. *Ron Wyden Democrat Oregon. Prominent critic of tobacco industry and announced he was opposed to FDA jurisdiction over tobacco and yet coauthored an early proposal to put cigarettes under FDA jurisdiction in 1998.Considered a moderate Democrat. Oregon vapors might consider lobbying him or maybe consider working for his opponent in the General election.

6.*Bob Casey Democrat Pennsylvania. Will be hard to beat. Former Governors" son.

7. Al Franken Democrat Minnesota. Well, what can I say about this one?

8. Michael Bennet Democrat Colorado

9.*Jeff Bingaman Democrat New Mexico. Not seeking reelection.Vapors in New Mexico--work for a good candidate to replace him.

10.* Richard Blumenthal Conneticut. First elected 2010 to finish Senator term. Up for reelection.

11. Bernie Sanders Independent Socialist Vermont. Votes and caucuses with the Democrats.

12. Frank Lautenberg Democrat New Jersey. I think we are all familiar with this Senator. He will be in his 90"s when he completes his term.

12.Frank Lautenberg Democrat New Jersey.

Thanks for putting that list together.

It seems to me that the worst offenders in that list are...
--Tom Harkin
--Sherrod Brown
--Richard Blumenthal
--Frank Lautenberg

I've seen those names printed on a lot of the things we are fighting.
But where did you get the other names?
Those are 12 Senators encouraging FDA to propose regulations that could ban most ecig products and eliminate most ecig companies. I will have to go back to one of Bill Godshalls" posts that listed the Senators to be more specific on their lobbying efforts to influence regulations/legislation. I think Mary Landreiu(sp.) of LA. is ready to join them. I have not checked all the Senators up for reelection, but will do that and research their voting record. I will say again--vapors would be wise to "make friends" with the opponents of unfriendly Senators.

OOPS! Mary Landreiu is prepared to support the cigar people to fight the inclusion of cigars in Chapter IX of FSPTCA. Sorry Senator. Vapors in LA. might wish to thank her and ask for her help fighting inclusion of ecigs in ChapterIX.

Sometimes I feel like half my life is spent writing letters and making phone calls, urging my congressmen to block the democrats who are trying to ban one thing or another that I enjoy.

Sorry, that's probably off topic, but it hit me as I read that list that the same people trying to ban ecigs are the same people who are always trying to ban guns and lower speed limits and keep me from eating fried food and saying I can't play with lawn darts and legally compelling me to wear a motorcycle helmet etc. etc. etc....

Why can't I choose how I will live, and how I will die?

Another OOPS! Blumenthal of Ct. is not running this cycle. It is Lieberman of Ct. and he is retiring. I should not post so late at night.

This guy i think is usually one of the more reasonable senators, one of the few politicians I actually have some respect for. I think if you write to him and explain what a electronic cigarettes is and how it actually helps a lot of people he would probably understand.

I'm not sure if Al Franken is against Tobacco Harm Reduction, but he is one of the sponsors of this monstrosity...

Because you’re not really free are you? Freedom is an illusion, a guise. You are in no way shape or form -- free. You are merely free to do as you 'ought' to do dictated by men with no real authority who scribble words on paper and call it a law. Enforced by brainwashed monkeys who in turn put you in a cage for questioning said authority all the while telling you -- you are free.

Real laws such as the law of inertia can be proven mathematically, and have no author short of god/nature. Man's laws force compliance and by their very own nature assure us we are not free.

Take a look at the Utah state house bill. It is sponsored and written by Republicans. It's not just democrats we are fighting. It's all politicians regardless of party affiliation. I could name some things that republicans are infringing on my rights as well, but that is not our fight here. The prohibition of e-cigs is. Let's stick to the real fight and stop bashing political parties.

Did I miss something? What does that bill have to do with e-cigs?
Well, yes, you've missed quite a bit over the last few years.
:)

The 12 senators in question wrote the letter October 14th letter described in this thread...

As for the bill in question I assume you are talking about the one I posted?

That bill would apply equivalent tax rates to ALL tobacco products so those tax rates are equal to cigarettes.
They would use the money from those tax increases to help fund special education.

This has to do with electronic cigarettes in the following way...
--If the FDA does what the letter of October 14th urges, then electronic cigarettes will be a tobacco product
--If the bill passes and electronic cigarettes become tobacco products then they would be taxed at the same rate as cigarettes

Yep....both parties (and Independants) are equally guilty. The tobacco and BP lobbies have lots and lots of $$$$ and reguardles of party, $$$$ is what talks in DC (instead of common sense).

Make LOTS of noise vapers.... because the only thing those crooks in DC listen to other than $$$$ is votes. And it takes a lot of votes per $ to offset and change thier minds.
