So this afternoon due to boredom I created a little spreadsheet that totals what I have spent on vaping, what I would have spent on smoking, how much I have not smoked, calculates my YTD balance, break even date, 1 year projection (minus expenditures) and so forth. Are there any other useful calculations my fellow geeks are putting in their spreasheets? As long as I don't buy a Provari and go crazy on flavors I will break even in a month! The Provari would bump it up to 2 months, which makes it even more tempting...

I did in the early months, but then stopped when I realized I was buying so much stuff I wasn't really saving.

Now I AM saving, since I know what I like and don't buy anything really unnecessary anymore. I don't need the spreadsheet anymore either, as I am not spending much, and know I have saved a ton! :2c::D

Out of curiosity I should have probably kept track just to see that big dollar savings, but at least I know I've saved a bundle, not to mention got full lung capacity back! LOL

After 3 months (2 months dedicated to vaping) I have about a grand into this give or take some. It is abit more than I expected BUT I am currently stock piling like a pack rat lately because of my employment status or I should really say my unemployment status. Just making sure my PV's are reliable, I have plenty of juice on hand, and cartos or something to burn it with. It is still in the long run going to be a savings.

I keep track w/ my cig banner. It tracks money not spent on cigs. Then every time I buy something else (juice/clearos mostly) I add it to my "break even" total.

Looks like, as of today, I'm less than 2 cartons away from breaking even again... roughly 15 days. I am considering building a box mod (maybe a vv), but that's on the back burner until I break even again.

I almost did a spreadsheet when I started, thinking it would be interesting, fun & informative to see how this "vaping" thing shook out financially. But then I figured heck, one of the great things I've been able to do since retiring is to quit keeping score. One of life's fascinating little ironies (to me anyway) is that so many of us spend our most (potentially) productive years as scorekeepers, and that's kind of sad because Life isn't calling for more scorekeepers, it's crying out for Players! It would have been nice If I'd realized this sooner but it took what it took so I'm not complaining, I'm just grateful to be in the game of the Living (and unconcerned about the score). :D

i do keep almost all my used-up,defunct and retired kits..this is a whole year since i started vaping from March 2011 to now March 2012..will give it a decent burial since these kept me away from analog after 30 + yrs on it.. i refine my starter kits..will only use variable voltage batteries, presently eGoVV and coupled with cartomizers and cartridge/atomizer setup..the DIY e-liquids i learn and getting the right mixtures in PG/VG and nicotine..i am totally absorb in my new founded hobby & pleasure of vaping..happy vaping every1..regards mafig

I haven't kept track of all the spending I've been doing. Guess I don't really care as long as I can get off of analogs! To me, after smoking for about 30 years, that in itself is PRICELESS! My husband still smokes and spends around $350/month on cigarettes, so that pretty much leaves me wide open! lol!

Edited to correct spelling.

Buy the Provari anyway....It will "Rock" your vaping world... Been at this vaping thing for 2+ years now and loving it. Even if were to cost me more than smoking(which it does not) I would still do it.. Much healthier option than smoking, for those who love their nicotine.

I think the common response for anyone who has been vaping 100% for 3 or more months is "ya I have spent WAYYYYYY to much $$" But we all feel better, smell better and we are having fun vaping, trying new things, see what our favorite juice, mod, voltage is, we are a giagantic experiement and breaking new ground every day!!!!

Edited to correct spelling.

You wouldn't believe how often I go back and edit to correct spelling and grammar. Nice to see I'm not the only one who does this.

I have spent probably 2x as much vaping than I would have smoking during these first 9 months vaping. This is largely due to experimentation with various equipment that I later discarded or sold at a loss. This number is also large because in the last 2 months I've bought 3 mods at an average cost of $150 and a few very expensive carto tanks. Some of this will be recouped when I sell one of these mods off (I only think it is reasonable to keep 2 mods, the best variable voltage mod and the best "on the go" mod).

With that said, I now have enough equipment and supplies to vape for a year without buying anything further. My experimentation phase has come pretty much to an end, I now know what I like/dislike. I have bought about 45 cartos and enough DIY supplies to make 2 liters of juice. Further expenditures will be mostly DIY flavoring which is very cheap.

I have spent about 230 dollars since I started vaping..and would have spent about 260 dollars on cigarettes so far...I'm happy with that.

I've found a juice I like. I have found carto's that I like..the only thing left is a mod or two and I'm set. I don't really care to do a bunch of experimenting to find "perfection" so, as long as I'm happy with my experience I won't be buying much more outside of juice and cartos once I get the mods.

As my sig show I am keeping tabs on things.

The numbers are actually better than shown as I have bought stuff for my wife in that total but alas she is still smoking.

I am about to take it well over the grand mark in 8 days with a Provari for me Provari Mini and a 510 kit for the wife, yeah still trying.

I figure once I have those I will be in a holding pattern of juices, atty's and carto's until I can get my hands on a Zen Atty for the Provari or two. Then in another holding pattern until a Zenesis, then in another holding pattern for a.......oh dear.
