I don't understand why everyone cares about the insulator of the Crius having a hairline crack. I think its an OCD type of a deal because it wont effect the vape at all. There are two giant 4mm holes right next to the hairline crack and you guys think the leak will be from the crack? If your build and wicking is sound there will be no true leaking from the Crius with a cracked insulator or not. And the tiny amount of "leaking" from the Crius is because there is a seam between the JFC and AFC. Any condensation that forms "leaks" from that seam. The reason I put "leaks" in quotation marks because its hardly even noticeable. It seem that the Griffin has that seam as well so it might "leak" just like the Crius even if it has a Peak insulator.
I, for one, got a broken ceramic chip in my mouth from the broken insulator.
For another thing, if I buy a new product, I expect it not to be broken when I recieve it. Even if it worked fine (which mine doesn't), it would still be broken. Thats not acceptable in my book.
If I bought any other product that had visible damage (whether it affected performance or not) I would return it.
The leaking may not be caused directly from a cracked insulator, however, the deck is press fit and it seems that the 510 pin and insulator are partially responsible for the structural integrity of the deck. The sloppy fitment between the jfc and afc rings may have something to do with inadequate pressure caused by an improper press-fitment that also may be causing the cracked insulator.
I actually removed my shattered insulator (that came out in a hundred pieces) and made an insulator out of JB Weld just so I could still use the Crius until my replacement arrived. But it leaks soooo badly from between the jfc and afc, that its practically unusable.
