If you haven't already I encourage you to watch DJLsb's review/tutorial on the Zeus. I followed what he did and haven't had any issues with dry hits. Good luck

His wicking does work well but if you chain vape at higher watts you can run into dry hits. My solution was to thin my tails and cut the ends at a V, the thick part of the wick is what stops the deck from flooding. You get a more saturated vape and can be a little spitty but if you like taking 5 to 6 hits in a row it will save you from a dry hit.

starting to practice making coils for my Zeus, first coil ever a 1.5(was aiming for 1.4) installed in my new Ammit 25 wicked and vaping nicely at 16 watts(no signs of leaking after 2 hours now)

I lost count how many times I turned my Zeus upside down and 360 degrees.
I can’t make this tank leak.

If I try really hard, I can flood the coil, still no leaks. But after few puffs at double wattage, it clears the flooding.

Latest findings after playing around with this tank for the last week ... it seems the flavor is definitely better the higher the coil is placed. Anyone else noticing this? The tops of my 3.0mm coils are now mostly above all of the holes, with the top 1/4 of the coil sitting slightly above the notch. I probably can't go much higher as it will touch the outer edges of the outbound airflow hole.

Just built my highest coil yet ... the top of the coil is just slightly below the tops of the posts and it's not shorting (wow). It just keeps getting better flavor-wise ... loving it! Build them as high as you can! Had to adjust my wick trimming a bit to make sure there was enough to make it down through the channels. :)

Turn the top juice cap towards open direction and it will get the juice flowing to the wick and coil quicker. Watch the big bubbles rise up. It’s a little trick if you are chain Vaping at HIGH wattage to saturate the wick faster.

Other wise, make the tails very very very very thin if you want to vape or chain vape at high wattage. But the tails would need to be a tad longer, add 1-2mm.

The thicker the juice, the thinner the tails.

That is interesting.
In my short experience with Zeus tank, the lower I mount the coil the better juice flavor I get.

Today, I spent an hour building and testing 4 coils at various heights. And in IMHO, the lower the better.

At the end of the day, it’s all subjective and the are too many variables to make a factual conclusion.

I’m just happy I have a cheap, fun hobby and I’m smoke free. :)

And all while being leak free!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone know how to take the tank apart to change the glass??
I haven’t broken the glass on the tank but I can’t disassemble it.
I got mine apart pretty easily when I first opened it but haven't tried since. I saw one reviewer use a use some needle nose pliers in the juice fill holes to turn the top and get it opened up

This sound like something is wrong with the airflow design. Could the best coil position strictly depends on the way you make your draw - either yours is a short and strong draw or long and gentle draw ...

I hope my Zeus will arrive today and let's see how coil position affects the performance.

OBS Nano is no good for chain vaping - regardless of how I position my coil and tweak my wick. I seriously hope that the same matter won't repeat in Zeus...

I chain vape my Nanos regularly. I think coil placement in Zeus is probably dependant on how open your af is.

I can't really figure out what factor(s) that make chain-vaping with OBS Nano an unpleasant experience, my conclusion is made base on the fact that, with all other conditions unchanged, when I switch to chain-vaping with tanks like IJoy Exo or Govad, I get better chain-vaping experience.

Definitely agree. I was going to say just that, but I didn’t want to get anyone all riled up about DNA vs. Smok, etc. :pop:

Normally, on every other tank, yes. But I cannot with the Zeus. 50 watts is too much to keep up with wicking, it must be the bends in the wicks that kink the juice flow a bit (using a triplecore fused clapton, at 0.25 ohm.) 40 watts works just fine tho.

I really hope on the inevitable Zeus V2, geekvape gets rid of those bends in the wicks. It wicks fine, but I could never crank this up to 60+ watts like on most tanks. Great tank for what it is tho. Flavor is superb.

Zeus V2 will have a square deck. You screw your coil from the other site of the deck, so the juice cup will be placed in the center and you won't need to bend a long cotton - a better juice flow.:pervy:

OK ... more trials tonight. I have one Zeus with the coil way high (the highest one I was previously speaking of) and one that I built as low as possible. Now I can't really tell the difference... I did try to match my wicking as best as possible in both and they're both feeding very well, so maybe coil position doesn't matter as much as I thought it did...

4-5 second draws, relatively strong pull, DTL, airflow slightly over half way open.

I'm just going to start centering them like I did when I started and leave it at that, unless someone else comes up with some other revolutionary method. :D

Thank you. You have just proven no matter where our coil ends up we will get a good vape. Sure saved me some homework. Now all I have to figure out is the best build for it.:)

As long as you have what works for you. Haven't chained the Zeus hard yet, might have to lower nic for it.

Seriously think about it, most people agree RDA's give the best flavor, why is that? Because the coils are the closest to your mouth. Mounting a coil in an RTA close to you mouth will mimic the same performance, the reason for great flavor is the proximity of the coil to your mouth.

It's not rocket science people but at the same time preference plays a part, just do what is enjoyable for you.

ohms? watts? tc? useless info...........

My apologies, was worried I was getting a bit too repetetive with this info in my earlier posts/pics/etc.

3.0ID, 8 wrap 26Ga Temco SS316L spaced in temperature control using a DNA75, 60W hard pre-heat for 1s, 40W normal with TC set at 460 using the default DNA75 SS316L material profile curve.

It’s working well, was trying different coil positions to see if I could tell a difference and ultimately came to the conclusion that the difference is negligible. Flavor is great no matter the placement. I’m building them in the middle, maybe slightly higher than middle.

ETA: Wicking is KGD, slight resistance through the coil, ends raked well with ends barely brushing the bottom of the cap. Thinned/raked wick ends has been the single most important part of building this tank so far for me.
