I thought it would be helpful to have a thread dedicated to general and possibly model-specific information and advice regarding the 510, so that others trying to find it might do so in one place.

Since I'm a new owner, I don't have much to offer though, so I'll kick it off with a post from KreeL in another thread that was started by me because I didn't see this anywhere else...

My 510 is my favorite model. Several things I've noticed:

They put out a lot of vapor. This means they use more juice than some other e-cigs. If you are getting a 'burnt taste' it probably means your carts are running too dry.

I don't drip on the auto bats, but dripping on the manuals is easy, you just center your bottle over the top and let a drop or two go right down the center. If you miss a bit, no worries, it vapes everything in a close proximity.

Before you top up your carts, take a pair of tweezers and tug the stuffing a bit and bring it back up to the top of the cart. Add a few drops (but don't 'pool it').

Only hold the button for a split second before you inhale. Release it right after you have finished your inhale.

Don't draw on it like a tank. It hits really easy and overpulling can give you a burnt taste because you are not allowing it to vaporize naturally. Go easy on it and it will go easy on you.

You cannot install the cart in the 'wrong' direction. There, your mind is at ease.

On the auto bats watch the LED closely right after a draw. Sometimes, usually right after topping a cart, it will stick a bit. If it stays lit for more than a few moments, unscrew the battery quickly. That is the only nag I've had with mine since I got it. I now own 4 510s and love them all. My favorite bat is the manual, but you do have to understand that they operate differently internally and vapor production and taste are different also.

Blow your atomizers out at least twice a week. I used to do it every night, but I then realized I was wasting 4-6 drops of nic juice. If they need more cleaning that that, you can try a multitude of suggestions already out there, but be careful - atomizers for these babies are a bit more expensive than the 901s.

Never carry any pv battery side up for very long. vaping in bed, unless you are sitting up will likely shock you wide awake with a nice drop or two of nic on your tongue.

After all of that, if you feel like throwing it away, just send it to me. :)

Feel free to add whatever you have, but I'd appreciate it if we could stay on topic, so that us newbies don't have to scroll too far to find the meat... :)

And if you find something that someone else posted that you think belongs here, out of courtesy you might try to let them know, but by all means please do be sure to give the proper credit...

Thanks,
Tim

I wondering if anybody finds they use the 510 differently than other e-cigs... by which I mean, I find that I tend to push the button and drag twice... the first I send right out my nose, the second I inhale... I find this increases the flavor. Much easier to do this with a 510 manual battery.
I hold the button just barely 1sec and then inhale 3 to 4 seconds. Your right about the flavor, the whole drag up my nose;)

I hit it twice with using the manual, too. The pre-filled RY4 carts that came with the kit sure don't last very long, on one I think I might have gotten 5-6 good drags off it before it started to tasted burnt. My juice should be here tomorrow, we will see how that goes.

Okay, I was intrigued by this and tried it, and I'm just not getting very much vapor from 1 second on the button... however, I do notice that inhaling for a couple of seconds after a 2-4 second burst sucks out the rest of the vapor caught in the emtpy cartridge when dipping and provides a nice little kick... so thanks for that tip! :)

tester, I continue to depress the switch while I inhale, just wait about a sec before starting to inhale;)

I have had my 510 since the first of March and really prefer the manual batt.
The auto batt went though a cleaning cycle (at least I think that's what it was) and it almost burnt my fingers before I could set it down , then a week later it died. Yes boys and girls, if your auto batt starts flashing like crazy drop it like it's hot  because it soon will be.

My 510 is the Holy Grail of Vape... Keep in mind I only use Manual Batts Im running 2 Complete kits and I couldnt be happier with it.... I can even French Inhale this bad boy I love it like a first born child... also note with Manual Batterys not only do you not have a cleaning cycle as well as sealed batterys you can drip on without worries but the Manual Batterys are not effected by sound or wind either another huge perk...

The French inhale is a trick one can perform while smoking. One takes a deep drag, then while the mouth is open and the jaw is slowly closed to force the smoke out, one inhales through the nose, thus inhaling the smoke drifting from the mouth.

This trick is often performed in conjunction with the smoke ring

I am looking at buying a 501 next, is there any difference at all between the models? i've been looking at the Dura-c or the Titan I like the Dura-c but you don't seem to be able to use the pcc with the manual batteries, can the Titan pcc be used with both the manual and the auto? I think i'm reading to much info and confusing myself lol:confused:

They are all the same thing, the only difference is prices and lengths of warranties.

The Dura-C now comes with a shorter manual battery which is supposed to work with the PCC. This would apply to the 510 as well, and I would expect to the Titan, but you might want to ask your supplier before you purchase whether you will receive the long or the new shorter batteries.

Karen my opinion I would hold off on the PCC reason being is ElectroNicStix.com is going to have a 510 Manual Passthru this combined with a Kensington Power Pack youll never worry about having a steady power source again...

still analog, but i plan to get a 510 manual battery kit for topping off & dripping...also some 306 atomizers for dipping...just got a few last questions to make sure i didn't get mixed up...

-dripping & dipping is good for vapor & convenience for adding juice, but these methods tend to kill more juice? can someone give an example of how much more juice gets used? also, does it affect atomizer life span?

IS THIS RIGHT?
-recessed atomizer: mesh is inside the atomizer, dripping is a problem with automatic batteries since they are not sealed like manual batteries, juice can leak down & damage the battery

-exposed atomizer: mesh is exposed/sticking out for easier horizontal dripping (vertical dripping likely to cause juice to leak down)

Do not use liquids or cartridges other than those delivered with your e-cigarette.
-i understand the cartridge problem...but do i really need to worry about the liquid? any suggestions on which juices to stay away from?
