Hey Ocelot, very informative link thanks for posting. I think we can all agree that lithium ion batts have their own unique set of issues. (as do all rechargeable batts in their own way). Some will spontaneously combust for no reason at all. Others are cheaply made and the built in safety features fail. No need to be testing the batts limits by charging them in extremely undesirable conditions. It is a known fact (Google it) that heavy water vapor can seep into lithium ion batts and react to cause combustible gas that will expand, explode and/or ignite the battery.
If I were MrSato... I would be putting a "bathroom disclaimer" on all the starter kits I
sell... ~
this is the first time ive ever seen one up close that has caught fire, im happy that the battery did exactly what it was suppose to and blew out the bottom plug and caught fire.
You could further add warnings not to charge batteries inside of a microwave, while in a tanning booth, on a raft in a swimming pool, on top of a washer or dryer...
Is it just me...or are MOST of the failures ego style (knockoff/kgo/whatever) that we see? I have only seen issues with others that while scary were the result of mistreatment. Not that I have gone looking for them...but the one I see seem to be the same style.
I charge all of my batteries in (a the bathroom on a tile counter, and (b in a LIPO bag. I don't charge over night and I don't charge when I am not at home.
