I got it set up 2 days on a vamo ago and just now I started comparing it to my kanger T2 on an eGo. The juice is around a 70/30 mix with the flavors tobacco, apple, melon and a hint of menthol. I bought it with the knowledge that a genesis tastes good and clean, not muted.
I was proud of myself when I got the wick and coil almost perfect on the first try (reading 2 Ohms), but the flavor is either hardly there or it tastes burnt when I raise the power (at 7,5W already). I'm currently using 500 mesh and it seems to be wicking fine. I tried putting some of the juice directly on the coil and vaping it, not much of a difference. I really want to like it, because the thought of not scorching my wicking material by using it makes me happy.
What am I doing wrong? Did I oxidize the wick too much? Should I not have torched the kanthal? Should I buy a carto tank instead?
If possible, how would you go about improving the taste?

Thanks for the advice.

Besides having so many problems with hotspots with my genesis attys the flavor wasn't there for me either. I know most people say the flavor is pure and clean but I couldn't even taste the flavor I had in it. I used 500 mesh also and it wicked great but the flavor just wasn't there. I sold everything and went back to my carto tanks. Much better flavor and less fiddling IMO.

BTW: You should burn your kanthal with a lighter before you wrap. This takes out the springiness and burns off any chemicals or other nasties that might have gotten on it. I'm not sure you can over oxidized a wick.

I found that getting the coil wraps closer together increased vapor production & flavor. Worth a try.

If it's getting a burnt taste I'm leaning towards a hot spot on the coil somewhere. Really can just destroy the vape.

I definitely get better flavor from my AGAs, though its not leaps & bounds ahead of the carto-tank I'm using.

Gen's tend to shine w/ tobacco flavors especially, so something is amiss... Tobacco flavors are very strong in my Orion using 400 mesh/PG liquid and a 3/4 wrap of kanthal 32g.

W/o knowing every detail of your setup it will be hard to pinpoint. You mentioned using 500 mesh. Saying that you're not having wicking problems, maybe it's the opposite-- over wicking perhaps. That could create muted flavor.

Another possible.. someone posted in this forum about using ribbon kanthal w/ muted flavor. I understand it can mute certain flavors. Don't know if you're using ribbon or not but wanted to throw that out there.
